‘Sick, inadequate fantasist’ asked for ‘young girl’s’ knickers

A man spent months engaged in sordid online chats with someone he believed to be a 13-year-old girl, a court has heard.

Peter Kundrak asked someone he knew as “Amber” intimate questions, asked her to send him her underwear, and suggested being her “friend with extras”.

In fact, the 27-year-old was talking to members of a paedophile hunter group called Confronted and Caught.

A judge branded him a “sick, inadequate fantasist”.

Swansea Crown Court heard that in April last year two members of the hunter group created a profile of a 13-year-old girl from Manchester called Amber on social media platforms.

In July, Kundrak initiated contact with Amber, and the pair then began chatting on the messaging app WhatsApp.

John Hipkin, prosecuting, said that over the following months there was “frequent and regular” contact between the pair.

The court heard the conversation soon became sexual with Kundrak asking Amber to describe her breasts, asking her to perform sex acts on herself, and requesting that she send him her knickers.

Kundrak sent the girl pictures of his penis.

Mr Hipkin said Kundrak suggested the pair could be “friends with extras”, and mentioned travelling to Manchester and meeting Amber at the city’s Piccadilly station.

The barrister said that although there had been talk of meeting, the prosecution accepted it had been “token” in nature, and the defendant had not planned to travel to Manchester.

In October, Kundrak abruptly terminated the contact between the pair, and it was subsequent to this that Confronted and Caught went to the police to report his online behaviour.

Kundrak, of New Street, Lampeter, had previously pleaded guilty to attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity when he appeared in the dock for sentencing.

Judge Paul Thomas QC told Kundrak his conversations with what he believed to be a 13-year-old girl had been “simply disgusting” and showed “paedophile tendencies”.

He said he accepted the defendant had not intended to go through with a meeting with Amber, and it seemed to him Kundrak got his sexual thrills from the explicit conversations.

The judge said: “You seem to me to be a sick, inadequate fantasist.”

Judge Thomas said that rather than impose what would necessarily be a relatively short sentence it would be better for the defendant – and more importantly better for society – that he receive specialist support and treatment to tackle his problems.

Kundrak was given a two-year community order with a rehabilitation course, was made the subject of a five-year sexual harm prevention order, and was placed on the sex offenders register.

November 2019: Perry, 32, died in hospital after attempting to kill himself in Parc Prison, Bridgend

Dangerous paedophile who abused babies ‘confessed to police to clear his conscience’

A dangerous paedophile that sexually abused babies and young children walked into a police station and confessed what he had done as he wanted to “clear his conscience”.

Jared Perry abused the youngsters – some just months old – in a series of opportunist attacks, a court heard.

The 32-year-old was described to be an “extremely high risk” to children as he was locked up for an extended period.

Swansea Crown Court heard Perry abused both male and female children, with some of the children he targeted aged less than six months old.

Prosecutor John Hipkin said the abuse only came to the police’s attention when Perry walked into Aberystwyth police station and asked to speak to an officer. Over the course of some seven interviews Perry disclosed what he had done.

The court heard Perry was brought up in a strict religious environment and from an early age began watching pornography to which he later became “addicted”. That was initially adult pornography but then progressed to images of young children, the court heard. He also began to abuse drugs and was described as a “controlling and manipulative” individual.

Perry, of Llanilan, Aberystwyth, admitted 10 counts of indecent assault and sexual assault on a child under 13.

Judge Paul Thomas QC said he had carefully read psychiatric and pre-sentence reports into the defendant and had come to the view he could properly be regarded as a dangerous offender.

He handed Perry a sentence of 17 years comprising 10 years in prison and an extended seven-year term on licence.

Perry can apply for parole after he has served two-thirds of the custodial element of the sentence.

He will be on the sex offenders register for the rest of his life and was made the subject of an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.

Sending the defendant down the judge told him: “I believe without a doubt you present an extremely high risk of sexually assaulting children in the future.”

Ex-Assembly member who harvested sickest child abuse images spared jail and given £200 fine

Former Plaid Cymru Senedd member Simon Thomas downloaded Category A images and videos

A former Plaid Cymru AM has been handed a 26 week prison sentence after admitting possessing more than 600 indecent pictures and videos of children.

Simon Thomas, 54, of Aberystwyth admitted three counts of making indecent images of children when he appeared at Aberystwyth Magistrates’ Court

But the judge at Flintshire Magistrates Court suspended the term for two years.

District Judge Gwyn Jones said the offences are so serious an immediate custodial sentence could be justified.

That sentence, he told Thomas, would be so short as to have little impact except delay the addressing of issues the pre-sentence report had identified.

In addition to the prison term he must work with the Probation Service to address these issues.

The judge, noting Thomas had “suffered a significant fall from grace”, ordered Thomas to observe a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for the next seven years. This will restrict the use of computers and he cannot delete any internet browsing history and make all electronic equipment available to police on request.

Within the next three days Thomas must register his details with police and these will remain on the Sex Offenders Register for the next seven years.

Thomas was also ordered to pay costs of £200.

The court heard 150 pictures and videos, found at the home of the former Plaid Cymru Welsh Assembly member in July, were in the highest category of illegal images.

The father-of-two Thomas pleaded guilty to making 94 still and 56 moving images of category A, 87 still and 16 moving images of category B, and 354 still and five moving images of category C.

Former Plaid Cymru MP admits to making more than 600 indecent images of children

A former MP has pleaded guilty to making more than 600 indecent pictures and videos of children.

Simon Thomas, 54, admitted three counts of making indecent images of children when he appeared at Aberystwyth Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

The court heard 150 pictures and videos, found at the home of the former Plaid Cymru Welsh Assembly member in July, were in the highest category of illegal images.

Father-of-two Thomas pleaded guilty to making 94 still and 56 moving images of category A, 87 still and 16 moving images of category B, and 354 still and five moving images of category C.

“All sentencing options are open,” District Judge Gwyn Jones warned Thomas before he adjourned the hearing for a pre-sentence report.

Thomas was ordered to surrender his passport to police and was prohibited from having unsupervised contact with children below the age of 16.

District Judge Jones said: “The fact the court has adjourned today for a report should not be taken as an indication of any predetermined sentence.

“This includes custody or the case being sent to the crown court.”

Thomas, from Penparcau, Aberystwyth, was granted conditional bail until he appears at Mold Magistrates’ Court on October 31.

He resigned from Plaid Cymru and from his role as the Welsh Assembly member for Mid and West Wales after he was arrested in July.

Thomas, a former librarian, was MP for Ceredigion between 2000 and 2005. He was also in the running to become Plaid Cymru leader but dropped out before Leanne Wood won the contest.

Ceredigion man gets two years in prison for child abuse images offences

A CEREDIGION man who had a computer tower hidden in his wardrobe when police searched his home has been jailed for making and sharing indecent images of children, as well as inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity.

Dyfed-Powys Police officers executed a warrant at the Ystrad Meurig home of Dean Lyster Harper, aged 61, after receiving intelligence that he had uploaded and distributed indecent images of children online.

A number of electronic devices were seized, including a computer tower which he had kept in a wardrobe. Digital forensic investigators from the Digital Communications and Cyber Crime Unit (DCCU) examined a laptop, mobile phone and the computer tower

As well as examining the hard drives, analysts were able to look back through Harper’s messenger conversations, where they found that he had downloaded more than 1,300 indecent images of children between category A – the most extreme – and category C, some of which he had been distributing.

From the evidence gathered, it could also be seen that Harper was using chat rooms to talk to people who told him they were girls as young as 10, and continued to ask them to send images of an indecent nature.

Following CPS advice, he was charged with six counts of making or distributing indecent images of a child, and one count of attempting to cause or incite a girl under 13 engage in sexual activity.

On Friday, June 22, Harper was sentenced to two years in jail and was placed on the sex offenders register. He had a sexual harm prevention order placed on him for 10 years.

Man, 61, tried to incite child into sexual activity

A man has been jailed for serious child sexual abuse images offences and attempting to incite a young girl into sexual activity.

Dean Harper, 61, of Sisial y Pin, Ffair Rhos, admitted downloading 317 indecent images of children in the most serious category A, 400 in category B and 500 in C.

He also admitted sending images in all three categories to a third party, all on a single day.

Harper also admitted attempting to incite the girl into sexual activity knowing that she was under 13.

Kevin Jones, prosecuting, told Swansea Crown Court that the distribution of the images alerted the police who raided Harper’s home and removed computer equipment.

An examination of his internet activity revealed he had made contact with a girl via social media and swapped messages with her.

The judge, Mr Recorder Peter Griffiths, told Harper his offending was serious and a jail sentence was inevitable despite him being in a wheelchair.

Harper was jailed for a total of two years and ordered to register with the police as a sex offender for 10 years.

He was also made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order which will restrict his contact with young people and his internet activity after his release from prison.
