Worle primary school deputy headteacher engaged in sex acts with boys online

A deputy headteacher who incited a child to commit a sex act online has been jailed.

Outwardly, David Jenkins was a hard-working teacher who had taught at Mead Vale Primary School in Worle for 18 years.

In reality he was a socially isolated man who led a fantasy life online, having sexualised chats with boys and making one perform a sexual act as he did so on camera.

When an investigation launched due to his contact with children via Facebook, it was established he had viewed child abuse images on his work laptop.

Jenkins, 54, of Hopefield in Newport, pleaded guilty to making indecent images of children, possessing extreme pornography and inciting boys to engage in or watch sexual activity.

He also admitted inciting a boy aged 13 to 15 to engage in penetrative sexual activity.

Judge Michael Longman jailed him for six-and-a-half years. He was placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register indefinitely and is subject to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).

The SHPO includes prohibitions on him having unsupervised contact with boys under 16 and loitering in the vicinity of any school, school playground or children’s club.

He told Jenkins: “It is likely to have caused consternation with the parents of the boys you came into contact with and a reaction from disappointment to outrage among colleagues, staff and the entire school community.”

Jenkins was told to register as a sex offender indefinitely, and handed an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order designed to stop him re-offending.

David Scutt, prosecuting, told Bristol Crown Court it was established Jenkins was involved in more than 100 Skype conversations with persons outside the UK, and 11 within the UK.

Three of these were boys with whom the teacher was established as having sexualised conversations with.

Jenkins was initially investigated after an informant using the school’s “whistle blower” policy reported concerns over his Facebook chats with youngsters.

As a result he was suspended in July, 2015, and it was found that his school laptop computer had contained images of children’s underwear, his commenting about being in a supermarket toilet waiting for someone to come in and photos and videos of himself masturbating.

A forensic examination of his laptop found he had viewed a relatively small number of child abuse images.

A total of 161 of these were deemed to be in the highest Category A abuse level.

There were also 57 images deemed to be in Category B and 153 deemed to be in Category C.

Police also found evidence of the teacher searching the web for subject matter such as “used underwear” and “gay boy chat”.

Analysis of his Skype chats, for which he used the name Gromit 2508, revealed sexualised conversations with boys.

Police were able to focus on three lads aged between 12 and 14.

One 14-year-old said he was in the process of discovering his sexuality when he chatted with Jenkins and talk quickly degenerated to sex chat and encouragement to commit a sex act.

A second lad said he thought of Jenkins’ attention as “weird”, while a third boy said: “I was only 14. I feel abused. I feel horrendous. I feel disgusting. I still feel sick.”

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: “Jenkins was suspended by the school in July 2015 after it was found he was in contact with former pupils, on social media, in breach of school protocol.

“An internal investigation found indecent images on his school laptop and the matter was reported to police in October 2015. Officers found almost 300 indecent images of children on this laptop, of which more than half were the most serious category.

“Further forensic examination of the laptop showed that Jenkins had been in contact via Skype with boys under the age of 16 from across the country and that the exchanges had been sexual in nature.

“Jenkins resigned his post and left teaching prior to his arrest on Wednesday 16 December 2015.

“Further investigation led to the identification of three boys aged between 12 and 15 who confirmed they had been in online contact with ‘Gromit2508’ – Jenkins’ username – and said that he had exposed himself to them, performed indecent acts and encouraged the boys to do the same.

“In May 2018 following a thorough investigation Jenkins was charged with three counts of making indecent images, one of possessing extreme pornography, seven of causing/inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and six of causing a child to watch sexual activity/image of sexual activity.

Sick teacher who viewed LIVE sex abuse of children is banned for life

A teacher has been banned from the classroom for life after he was found to have watched live sexual abuse of children on the internet.

James Edward Glazebrook, 37, of Nottinghamshire admitted to police that he had used a chatroom that involved the live streaming of attacks on youngsters and viewed indecent images.

He was formerly the head of computing and ICT at secondary school Castle Donington College until he was suspended in September last year and resigned a month later.

A Teaching Regulation Agency Panel has now banned him from his profession for life.

An agency report said Glazebrook had viewed one or more indecent images or videos between December 2015 and February 2016. The panel ruled that his actions were sexually motivated.

Glazebrook was arrested in September last year, in connection with his private internet use at home, which had been intercepted by police, the report said.

This included him viewing indecent images, streaming images and “sexualised electronic chats” relating to boys aged 12 to 16.

The report said: “Mr Glazebrook had been employed at Castle Donington College since August 26, 2015 as a teacher in the position of head of computing.

“In September 2017, Mr Glazebrook was arrested in respect of his private internet usage at his home, which had been intercepted by the police. This usage included his viewing of indecent images, streaming of images and sexualised electronic chats relating to boys aged 12 to 16.”

At the time of his arrest, Glazebrook was suspended by the secondary school in September 2017 and resigned a month later, the report said.

The report said the panel took into account a transcript of an interview between a detective and Glazebrook in which the teacher was reported to have admitted using a chatroom that involved the live streaming of child sexual abuse and viewing indecent images.

No criminal proceedings were brought against the former teacher in connection with his internet use, it said.

The report also said: “While the panel noted that these allegations took place outside of the education setting, these were proven allegations by a teacher involving his viewing of the sexual abuse of children. It is inconceivable for these actions not to be taken into account when considering Mr Glazebrook’s profession.”

It continued to say: “The panel took into account the way the teaching profession is viewed by others and considered the influence that teachers may have on pupils, parents and others in the community. The panel took account of the uniquely influential role that teachers can hold in pupils’ lives and that pupils must be able to view teachers as role models in the way they behave.”

The panel ruled that Glazebrook’s conduct fell “significantly short of the standards expected of the profession”.

The panel accepted that Glazebrook previously had a good history and noted references stating he was an “excellent teacher … and allows students to progress rapidly”.

The panel also noted that, in 2017, Glazebrook requested to be voluntarily removed from the teaching register stating that he did “not ever wish to teach again”.

The panel also noted that, in 2017, Glazebrook requested to be voluntarily removed from the teaching register stating that he did “not ever wish to teach again”.

“I have also taken into account the panel’s comments on insight and remorse which the panel sets out as follows: ‘While Mr Glazeberook did admit the allegations at an early stage and some remorse has been indicated by him, which may indicate some insight into his actions, the panel saw no evidence of any other efforts of remediation’.

“In my judgement, the lack of full insight means that there is some risk of the repetition of this behaviour and this risks the future wellbeing of children.”

Ms Lewis confirmed Mr Glazebrook has been banned indefinitely from teaching at any school, sixth form college, relevant youth accommodation or children’s home in England. She also said he would not be able to apply for his right to teach to be reinstated.

Mr Glazebrook has a right of appeal within 28 days.

Alexander Parkhouse – Penclawdd/London

March 2018

Pub worker sent video of his penis to young girl he tried to groom online

A 22-year-old Gower man sexually groomed a young girl online and sent her an intimate image, a court has heard.

A judge said he was in no doubt Alexander Parkhouse had set out to find young girls via social media and to engage them in sexual conversation and activity.

Swansea Crown Court heard Parkhouse “pestered” the girl, even though she had made it clear to him how old she was.

He asked her about her sexual activities, about her underwear, and sent her a video of his penis.

The girl – who lives in Lancashire – told her father about the contact, and the police were alerted.

Pub kitchen worker Parkhouse, formerly of Graig y Coed, Penclawdd, Gower, but now of The Mall, Southgate, Enfield, London, had previously pleaded guilty to inciting a girl under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity between August and November 2016 when he appeared in the dock for sentencing.

Judge Paul Thomas QC said he believed Parkhouse had gone on to the social media site with the purpose of having sexual conversations with underage girls.

He said: “You were testing the water to see how far you could push things.”

The judge said Parkhouse was clearly an intelligent man in a settled relationship, and with much to lose, but he had deliberately gone online to sexually engage with a young girl and there was no reason to suspend any prison sentence in his case.

Giving him a one-third credit for his guilty plea, the judge sentenced Parkhouse to two years in prison.

Parkhouse will be on the sex offenders register for 10 years, and he was made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order for the same length of time.

Kenneth Menagh – Ballynahinch

July 2018

Sex offender ‘tried to meet girl of 14’

A Co Down man banned from contacting children allegedly went online for sexual chats with a police decoy posing as a schoolgirl, the High Court heard yesterday.

Kenneth Menagh, 48, thought he was asking a 14-year-old to undress for him and to become his girlfriend, prosecutors claimed.

Menagh, of Lisburn Street in Ballynahinch, faces charges of breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, attempted sexual communication and attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming.

He was granted bail on tight conditions including a prohibition on accessing any social media or dating sites.

Menagh is currently barred from associating with anyone under the age of 16 following a conviction at Croydon Crown Court last year.

Crown lawyer Kate McKay said on that occasion he had travelled to England in a bid to meet a child.

She claimed he breached the terms of the Order on April 10 this year through online chats. “He engaged with what he believed to be a 14-year-old female child who was, in fact, an adult police decoy,” Mrs McKay told the court.

According to the prosecutor Menagh began a sexual conversation. “He asked if she was a virgin before introducing himself as Kenny.”

Lord Justice Treacy heard the defendant told the decoy he wanted to be her first meeting, and for her to become his girlfriend for real.

At one stage he accused her of being a paedophile hunter, but then continued with the exchanges.

It was claimed he requested photographs and expressed a desire to see her undress. Opposing bail, Mrs McKay contended that the potential risk he poses cannot be properly managed.

Despite expressing concern over the alleged offences, Lord Justice Treacy granted bail based on the time Menagh has spent behind bars.

Markyate paedophile jailed for forcing teenage girls to watch sexual act

A paedophile from Markyate has been jailed for 26 months after forcing two teenage girls to watch a sexual act.

Adrian Hayward, 48, was serving a community order sentence for possessing indecent images of children when he contacted a 13-year-old girl from Leicester over the internet.

The girl received a notification from someone using the profile ‘Jamie M’. The girl, who was also with a 16-year-old girl, thought it was a school friend and replied ‘Hi’.

Prosecutor Martin Mulgrew told St Albans Crown Court: “The defendant called through and the 13-year-old girl answered. They could see the defendant masturbating. He asked her to reveal her breasts and she ended the call.”

The court heard that the girl blocked Hayward from sending her messages, but he made 10 attempts to contact her. He asked for pictures of her and sent her a photograph of his penis.

The 16-year-old girl told the 13-year-old’s mother what had happened. She contacted the police and Hayward was traced through the IP address he used.

He was arrested and police recovered a Motorola phone which Hayward should have registered with police as part of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order that was made when he appeared in court for possessing the indecent images.

Hayward, of High Street, Markyate, appeared for sentencing on Friday, July 27 having pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to causing a child to watch a sexual act and breaching the Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

He had four previous convictions for exposure, indecent assault and having indecent images, going back to 1991.

Judge Graham Arran said “He has been on a course that has had no effect whatsoever”, and told Hayward: “You undertook the programme, but that has made absolutely no difference.”

Hayward was jailed for 22 months for causing a child to watch a sexual act, with a further four months for breaching his order.
