Paedophile who sexually assaulted child and hoarded thousands of indecent images is jailed

A twisted paedophile who sexually abused a young boy and hoarded thousands of indecent images has started his 14-year jail term behind bars.

Sickening Stephen Newell, 48, of St Mary’s Road, London, came to officers’ attention as a Portsmouth resident when an online account linked to him uploaded an indecent image of a child to the internet earlier this year.

Hampshire police’s internet child abuse team subsequently carried out an investigation, which led to the seizure of a number of devices, including a laptop and mobile phones that had inappropriate content on them.

During the investigation, horrified detectives were able to uncover that Newell had also sexually abused a young boy and recorded the footage.

Newell was arrested in February this year and subsequently charged with two counts of taking indecent photographs of a child, one count of making indecent photographs of children, three counts of distributing/showing indecent photographs/indecent pseudo-photographs of a child/children, one count of causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, two counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration and three counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.

He pleaded guilty to all charges and appeared at Portsmouth Crown Court where he was sentenced to 14 years in prison.

Sentencing him, Judge Recorder Robert Bright QC said he found the pervert’s actions ‘profoundly disturbing’ and said they would have a ‘devastating impact’ on the victim.

Man promised money to schoolgirl in exchange for explicit pictures

A self-confessed “dirty old man” who sent increasingly explicit text messages to a schoolgirl 40 years his junior was jailed.

Andrew Rogers appeared at Liverpool Crown Court to be sentenced for sexual communication with a child.

Rogers, 55, initially denied the charge but changed his plea to guilty as his trial was about to get underway.

The court heard that Rogers, who lives in South Croydon and works shifts at Gatwick airport, had only met his victim once, when she was 10 years old.

However, just before her 15th birthday, he began sending increasingly explicit Facebook messages to the schoolgirl at her Liverpool home.

Jonathan Rogers, prosecuting, said that in some of the messages, Rogers (no relation) would promise the girl money or an iPhone, and to show how much she wanted them by sending him pictures of herself.

In one exchange, Rogers referred to himself as a “dirty old man” and called her a “dirty schoolgirl.”

He also wanted to know if she was sleeping with boys, whether she fancied him, and whether she had seen “c**k” before.

“He repeatedly asked her to show him how much she loved him and how much she missed him, by sending him ‘a nice photo.’

“The messages became increasingly concerning.”

When the girl’s mum discovered the messages, she alerted police. However, Rogers initially denied the charge.

The girl’s mum, in her impact statement, said Rogers’ behaviour had had a “devastating effect” on her family.

It had led to the teenager, now 17, self-harming and threatening to commit suicide.

She added: “She should be going out and enjoying herself, instead she’s angry and depressed.”

Judge Denis Watson, QC, said: “The communications via Facebook messaging had an increasingly sexual theme to them.

“You made repeated requests for photos. Although she sent them, you weren’t satisfied with those and kept demanding others.

“I have absolutely no doubt you wanted a sexual pose.

“These were linked to offers by you of providing her with money, a phone, or both.

“Parts of this came close to grooming.”

Balding Rogers – who hung his head throughout most of the proceedings – was jailed for a total of 23 weeks.

He was also given a sexual harm prevention order and put on the sex offenders’ register for seven years in both cases.

Paedophile groomed girl, 13, online and had ‘sexual activity’ with her on beach and on train to London

A man has been sentenced to 11 years and three months in prison for grooming and engaging in ‘sexual acitivty’ with a 13-year-old girl from Brighton.

Kerien Rudland, 24, of Alwold Crescent, Eltham, was sentenced at Chichester Crown Court on Friday, June 25.

He had pleaded guilty at Brighton Crown Court in November 2019 to inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, meeting a child following sexual grooming and two counts of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a child.

Rudland met the girl on the Internet, groomed her online, arranged to meet her in Brighton and had sexual activity with her on the beach and on the train back to London.

In a separate trial he was also convicted of attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity, attempting to engage in sexual communications with a girl under 16, and attempting to cause a child to watch a sexual act.

These offences related to his online activity from his family address in Hull, sending messages to someone pretending to be a 13-year-old girl.

He was arrested on suspicion of that offence by Humberside Police in August 2018.

The language used by Rudland when communicating with the Brighton girl on Facebook was very similar to messages sent to the ‘decoy’ account.

Rudland will be a registered sex offender for life and was given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), severely restricting his access to children and computers until further court notice.

Nathan Earle Delgado, 49 (21.10.71) of, Highgate, Haringey, was sentenced on Friday, 18 June at Wood Green Court to two years’ imprisonment.

He was also issued with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for life and placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life.

He pleaded guilty at the same court on Thursday, 8 April to:

– Two counts of taking indecent images of children, t

– Three counts of making indecent images of children,

– Three counts of distribution of indecent images of children

– Attempting to cause a child to watch a sexual act.

On Thursday, 4 March, an arrest enquiry was carried out at Delgado’s address by officers from the Online Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Team, accompanied by the Met’s High Tech Crime Unit.

During the search of his address a number of his electronic devices were seized.

He was taken to a north London police station. Delgado was charged the following day with taking and distributing indecent images of children and remanded in custody.

Analysis of Delgado’s mobile phone found over 5,000 indecent images of children, of which 26 were identified as being taken by Delgado himself.
