Sex-offender caught by online paedophile hunters posing as a teenage boy
A sex-offender has been placed under a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for ten years after he was exposed by online paedophile hunters posing as a teenage boy.
Sheffield Crown Court heard on June 14 how Stephen Baldwin, aged 53, originally made contact with a male bogus online profile which had been set up by paedophile hunters and who claimed to be living in Barnsley.
Simon Reevell, prosecuting, said: “So-called paedophile hunters had placed a profile of a fictitious person called Lee, a bi-sexual male, 22 years of age, who according to the profile, lived in Barnsley.”
He added the defendant made contact with the profile who then claimed to be 15-years-old and the conversation developed and they exchanged telephone numbers and they talked about sexual intercourse.
Mr Reevell said Baldwin arranged to meet the online contact at Barnsley Interchange rail and bus station in April, 2017, but was confronted by a paedophile hunter and the police were called and Baldwin was arrested.
Baldwin, of Highgate Road, London, pleaded guilty to attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming.
Mr Reevell added Baldwin has other matters recorded against him but they are not relevant to this offence and they are old.
Judge Graham Reeds told Baldwin: “You have not been in trouble since you were arrested for these matters and these matters took place more than four years ago.
“What you did warrants an immediate custodial sentence but for the fact you have not been in trouble for four years and there is a realistic prospect of rehabilitation.”
He sentenced Baldwin to 12 months of custody suspended for two years with a sexual group work programme and a rehabilitation requirement.
Baldwin who has been placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for ten years was also made subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order which will also run for ten years.

Man who travelled to Reading to rape children is jailed
A pervert who travelled to Reading with the intention of raping two young children has been sentenced to eight years.
Shahmaan Ahmed, of Roman Road, London, believed the children to be three and eight years old when he travelled from the capital in August 2020 and even bought sweets for the youngsters.
The children were not real, but Ahmed, who also brought ‘sexual item’ with him to the meeting, was arrested by officers from Thames Valley’s Paedophile Online Investigation Team.
He was sentenced to eight years in jail after being found guilty of child sex offences by a jury back in February.

‘Dangerous sexual predator’ jailed for attempted meet-up with ‘teenage girl’ for sex at Guildford Cathedral
A “dangerous sexual predator” has been jailed after undercover police officers lured him into thinking he was meeting a teenage girl for sex at Guildford Cathedral.
Mark Crampton, 57, of Richmond-upon-Thames, has been sentenced to 44 months in prison after pleading guilty to arranging to meet who he thought was a child for sex.
He had pleaded guilty to arranging or facilitating the commission of a child sex offence; attempting to meet a girl under 16 years of age following grooming; and two counts of an adult attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child at an earlier hearing.
Crampton was arrested after communicating with two undercover police officers from the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit between April 18 and May 21, 2020.
On April 18, Crampton sent a private message to one of the officers, who he believed was a 13-year-old girl. Communication continued, with him sending sexually explicit messages using Kik Messenger.
This led to his arrest on May 21 in the grounds of Guildford Cathedral, where he had travelled with the intention of carrying out sexual acts with who he thought was the child.
It later transpired that Crampton had travelled to Guildford Cathedral the previous day to establish where he could engage in the sexual activity, Surrey Police said.
Crampton was subsequently arrested by two officers from Surrey Police on suspicion of arranging or facilitating the commission of a child sex offence.
During the sentencing hearing at Guildford Crown Court on Friday, March 5, Crampton was additionally handed an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).

‘Depraved’ couple sentenced over abuse of young girls
A man who filmed himself raping girls as young as three before sharing the videos with his wife has been jailed for 18 years.
Dean Edmunds, 36, began abusing children when he was in his early 20s, Croydon Crown Court heard.
He and Leanne Edmunds, 32, dubbed themselves “perverts together forever” in text messages about the attacks.
His four victims were all aged under 13, and he also filmed his wife having sex with athe family dog.
The majority of the rape and sexual assault offences were in relation to one girl, who was aged between three and seven when the crimes took place.
After being sent one video of her husband raping a young girl, Mrs Edmunds replied: “Lol you naughty boy.”
The father of one of the victims said he “screamed in horror” when he found out what had happened.
“The guilt was too much to bear. I should have been there, I should have stopped it, I should have protected her,” he said.
Officers found about 6,700 indecent images of children, including 1,158 of the most severe category, on Edmunds’ devices when they searched the pair’s south east London home.
He made a total of 147 pictures and videos of four victims, all girls aged under 13, and shared at least six of them with his wife, who he also filmed having full sexual intercourse with the family dog.
Hundreds of “up-skirt” pictures of girls and women on public transport and in changing rooms were also discovered.
The investigation was fast paced and saw a team of ten officers recover 11 electronic devices to review the 1.5 million files, as well as travelling overseas a number of times to interview a victim and her family.
The majority of Edmunds’ rape and assault offences related to one girl who was aged between three and seven years old when the abuse took place.
The team continue to provide ongoing support to the victim and her family.
Edmunds admitted 28 offences, including raping and sexually assaulting a girl under 13, intercourse with an animal, and perverting the course of justice.
Judge Alice Robinson told him: “You represent a grave risk of serious sexual harm to children.”
His wife, who has spent eight months in prison on remand, was spared further jail and was given a three-year community order after admitting:

Dean Edmunds was sentenced to a total of 18 years’ imprisonment for the following 28 offences:
– Three counts of rape of a girl under 13
– Assault of a child under 13 by penetration
– Nine counts sexual assault of a child under 13
– Causing a child to engage in sexual activity
– Inciting a child to engage in sexual activity
– Four counts of taking indecent photographs of a child
– Three counts of making indecent images of children
– Possessing indecent Images of a child
– Distributing indecent photographs of children
– Possession of extreme pornographic images
– Possession of prohibited images of children
– Intercourse with an animal
– Commit an act/series of acts with intent to pervert the course of public justice
