September 2020: Willard was sentenced to a two-year community order alongside a sexual harm prevention order restricting his access to the internet.

He must also complete 200 hours of unpaid work, attend a 30-day rehabilitation activity requirement and must notify as a sex offender for a period of five years.

An order was also made for the destruction of the devices seized from Willard’s home and he must pay £420 costs.

Cwmbran paedophile faces jail over indecent images

A pervert who admitted making indecent photographs of children and the possession of extreme animal pornography was warned he faces a prison sentence.

Stephen Willard, 50, of Oxtens, Coed Eva, Cwmbran, has pleaded guilty to four offences.

They are two counts of making indecent photographs of a child, one of possession of a prohibited image of a child and one of possession of extreme animal pornography.

Willard was due to be sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court but the case was adjourned for a report into the defendant at the request of his barrister Ben Waters.

The judge, Recorder Caroline Rees QC adjourned sentence to Friday, September 4.

Willard was granted bail.

The court heard he has already registered as a sex offender.

The prosecution was represented by Paul Hewitt.

Paedophile targeted girl over Facebook and FaceTime

A paedophile sent a ‘stream’ of ‘sexual’ messages to a girl from Bolton and engaged in cyber sex over FaceTime during a 17-day period.

Kieran Price, then aged 21, messaged the girl in August and September 2018.

Price, now 23, spent more than two weeks grooming the girl, prosecution barrister David Temkin told Bolton Crown Court.

Mr Temkin said that Price “would have known how old the girl was at the time of the communication”.

He also confirmed that the Facebook messages were “sexual in nature”.

The abuse was uncovered when a friend of the victim saw the inappropriate messages and alerted the girl’s mother.

After being given her daughter’s login details, the mother then saw a “stream of messages” between the girl and Price.

The mother said she was “horrified” when she read the messages and feared that the pair had been planning to meet up.

Mr Temkins said: “This was a 17-day period. At one point he discouraged her from revealing the relationship.”

Price, of Ash Grove, Caldicot, Monmouthshire, pleaded guilty to engaging in sexual communication with a child on March 19.

Sentencing him to a three-year community order, Judge Walsh said:  “I have seen the nature of the communications and it’s quite clear to me that you were aware of her age and were aware that the communication was covert, furtive, and was to remain so.

Cwmbran paedophile shared sickening child abuse images

A pervert was caught after he shared “depraved” child abuse images by sending them to another man via WhatsApp who was being investigated by the police.

Matthew Parry, formerly of Cwmbran, also had further sickening sexual pictures and videos of girls aged between four and 12 on his LG mobile phone.

Lowri Patterson told Cardiff Crown Court how the 43-year-old shared the images with a fellow paedophile who was later arrested by Avon and Somerset Police.

Detectives in England passed on the information to their colleagues in the Gwent force and Parry’s home was raided just before Christmas 2018.

Williams how the defendant had distributed one category A image, depicting the worst kind of child abuse, two at category B and eight at category C.

Parry was also in possession of 28 category A images, 23 at category B and 62 at category C.

There were 15 videos and 98 pictures.

The prosecutor said: “When he was arrested, he explained to the police, ‘I was sent them and I should have contacted you’.

“There are some images where the victims are clearly in a state of distress.”

Parry pleaded guilty to three counts of distributing indecent images of children and three counts of the possession of indecent images of children.

Judge Richard Williams told Parry, now of Fernhill, Glenboi, Mountain Ash, the images he had were “of a gross and depraved natured”.

But he said he was prepared to suspend the inevitable prison sentence.

The defendant was jailed for 16 months, suspended for 12 months.

Parry was ordered to complete a 30-day rehabilitation activity requirement, pay £420 prosecution costs and a victim surcharge.

The defendant will have to register as a sex offender for 10 years and was made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order.

Cwmbran paedophile’s jail warning

A pervert who shared child abuse images was warned by a judge he faces going to straight to prison.

Matthew Parry, 43, formerly of Cwmbran, appeared before Cardiff Crown Court after he pleaded guilty to six offences.

He admitted three counts of distributing category A, B and C images and three of possessing category A, B and C images.

The offences were committed on December 19, 2018.

Parry’s barrister Harry Baker asked that a pre-sentence report into his client be prepared by the Probation Service.

Judge Jeremy Jenkins agreed and postponed the case until July 6.

Parry, now of Fernhill, Glenboi, Mountain Ash, was warned that “all sentencing options, including immediate custody, are open”.

He was granted conditional bail.

The prosecution was represented by Lowri Patterson.

Pontypool flasher snared by paedophile hunters and police

A sex offender who was entrapped by paedophile hunters and police officers in an undercover sting is behind bars.

Brian Tapper, aged 53, of Samsons Avenue, Varteg, Pontypool, believed he was asking two 13-year-old schoolgirls for sex after making contact online.

But prosecutor Gareth James told Newport Crown Court the defendant was actually messaging decoys set up by a paedophile hunter group and the police.

Tapper, Judge Timothy Petts heard, had a long history of sex offending which included flashing in public.

The defendant admitted three counts of attempting to cause or incite a child to engage in sexual activity, attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, attempting to engage in sexual communication in the presence of a child and attempting to incite a child to watch a sexual act.

Ieuan Bennett, mitigating, said his client had admitted the offences.

Judge Petts jailed Tapper for a total of 14 months.

The defendant must register as a sex offender for 10 years and was made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order for the same length of time.

He also has to pay a £149 surcharge upon his release from custody.

Paedophile, 23, jailed for having sex with girl, 13

A paedophile who had sex on numerous occasions with a 13-year-old girl after grooming her was jailed for more than five years.

Connor Barret-Beynon, aged 23, of Portland Street, Abertillery, began his offending by sending his victim explicit images via Instagram, Newport Crown Court heard.

He appeared for sentence following his guilty pleas to six counts of sexual activity with a child.

Laura Shepherd, prosecuting, said: “This was grooming behaviour. There is evidence he told her not to tell anyone else about the relationship and encouraged clandestine behaviour.”

She told the court that after his arrest, Barret-Beynon made “full and frank admissions to the police in interview and said he knew she was 13”.

Miss Shepherd added that the defendant was of previous good character with no convictions recorded against him.

Judge Richard Williams told Barret-Beynon: “You encouraged your victim to become sexually involved despite knowing she was 10 years your junior and was 13.

“You knew full well she was well below the age of sexual consent. You groomed her.”

Had the defendant been convicted after a trial, he was told he would have been jailed for eight years but Judge Williams said he had to take into account Barret-Beynon’s guilty pleas which were entered at the very first opportunity.

This reduced his sentence by a third to five years and four months in custody.

Barret-Beynon was told he must register as a sex offender for life and was made the subject of an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.

He will also have to pay a victim surcharge upon his release from custody.
