Arrest warrant issued for Portuguese lodger who amassed over 9,500 indecent images of children while in Northampton

An arrest warrant has been issued for a Portuguese man who amassed over 9,500 indecent images of children while he was a lodger in Northampton.

Bruno Lopes, of Gaveto Da Rua in Apulia, returned home to Portugal following his arrest in 2017 after police traced the illegal online activity to an address in Gibson Lane.

But after wrongfully arresting the homeowner at first, officers were then informed the house had a lodger.

When Lopes arrived home, he confessed immediately and told police they would find what they were looking for on his computer.

Across four hard drives, investigators found at least 9,554 images and videos of the abusive material. Of those, 241 were classed as “category A”, the most serious classification under UK law.

Northampton Crown Court heard on Thursday (May 20) how Lopes’ computer also housed images of extreme violence and terrorism.

The 42-year-old lodger later told a probation team he had become “lonely and isolated” during his time in Northampton and he fell down a rabbit hole of depraved internet forums.

However, Lopes did not attend his sentencing despite a summons to court.

Now, following a sentence of eight months in jail in his absence, an arrest warrant has been issued for him to be taken to prison in Portugal.

Her Honour Judge Rebecca Crane said: “I see no grounds to suspend this sentence. There is no realistic prospect of rehabilitation and no strong personal mitigation.

“Mr Lopes denies an sexual interest in children. I reject this and find it not credible.”

Pervert upskirter who had sick ‘catalogue’ of octopus porn allowed to fly home from UK

A man who took dozens of ‘upskirt’ images of females and had an image of person having sex with an octopus has been allowed to return to Greece by a judge.

Eleftherios Zampoulakis, 34, was caught when a security guard saw him acting suspiciously in a Topshop store in July 2018 and called police.

It was then discovered he had a “catalogue” of files including more upskirting, child abuse images and extreme porn, which showed a person performing sex acts on a horse and octopus.

Zampoulakis had been ‘invited’ back to the UK to stand trial, but he refused; preferring instead to give evidence remotely via a video link in Crete. However, he did finally return to face sentencing

He was handed an 18-month prison sentence but a judge suspended it for two years so he could immediately return to the Greek island of Crete.

Judge Martin Griffith said: “It would be difficult to make any sort of community order in this country because you plan to go back to Crete.

“And I’m happy for you to do that because you will be back in Crete under the watchful guise of the women in your life.”

Zampoulakis admitted one count of outraging public decency, one count of voyeurism, one count of possessing extreme porn, one count of possessing prohibited images of a child and three counts of possessing indecent images of children – all between May 2018 and April 2019.

The court heard the child abuse images on his hard drive were in a folder named “ill3gal”, and the youngest children in the images were believed to be around seven-years-old.

Prosecutor Scott Brady said: “The defendant was noticed in Topshop. It transpired that what he had been doing was photographing two women, commonly known as upskirting.

“A number of devices were seized from him. Photographs and footage were found on them. A recording device and memory stick had ten files of upskirting files of 13 different women. None of them seemed to be aware of being filmed.

“There were 37 recordings on an iPhone, seven were upskirting, five were taken of female’s legs under a table or desk. On that phone there was also a video of a topless woman who appeared to be in her own flat.

“A hard drive had to be downloaded and analysed by police. Police returned to arrest him again for indecent images of children.”

Judge Griffith said: “You have pleaded guilty to a category of sexual offences involving a variety of ways in which you have been carrying this out in order for your own sexual gratification.

“They are a shocking catalogue involving upskirting ladies, possession of extreme pornography involving animals, images of children doing disgusting things.

“The whole thing came about because you were caught with your equipment trying upskirting images in a shop.

“It speaks volumes for you that in the time this has been hanging around you have taken steps to address the reasons for your behaviour.”

He added: “He can carry on all he’s doing. If he feels the urge to look up women’s skirts or children or extreme images in this country he knows what will happen if he comes before me again.”

British citizen convicted on Child Sexual Abuse

Iain Robert Cole, a British citizen arrested on January 19, 2019, has been convicted on charges of child sexual abuse.

The Kathmandu District Court on Wednesday convicted Cole and sentenced him to three years imprisonment and Rs 30,000 fines.

A single bench of Judge Prakash Dhungana of the Kathmandu District Court charged Cole and sentenced him to three years in jail and to compensate Rs 20,000 each to the victims.

Cole has been convicted in accordance with Article 225 of the Criminal Code, 2017 which talks about pedophilia.

The article 225 of the Criminal Code, 2017 states that sexual abuse is offensive. Similarly, the article 226 of the Code states that unnatural sex is offensive.

The prosecutor filed a case at Kathmandu District Court against Cole in the allegation of pedophilia with three children demanding a sentence similar to case rape. In article 226 (3) of the code, if anyone is convicted of raping a victim of age between 10 to 14 years, he/she will be sentenced to imprisonment of 18 to 20 years.

However, Kathmandu District Court sentenced Cole three years of jail term convicting him of pedophile terming it as partial fulfillment of the demand. The prosecutor is preparing to file a writ against District Court’s verdict. An official at the Attorney General’s Office said that they would go to the high court after receiving the full text of the verdict from the district court.

The CIB arrested a 50-year-old British national along with one Indian and Nepali nationals on the charge of pedophilia and rescued three minors from his clutches from Rabi Bhawan, Kalimati.

A team of plainclothes cops raided a rented apartment in Kalimati, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-13 at around 4:00am and apprehended Ian Robert Cole of the United Kingdom and his accomplice Ajay Poddar from India, in the act of molesting underage Nepali boys.

The British national lured poor and disadvantaged children with money and goods, brought them to his apartment, and preyed on them. He had last arrived in Kathmandu on December 28. It was his 16th visit to Nepal since 2010. One of his fellow citizens, who accompanied Cole, had left Kathmandu for home last week. Cole was arrested for possessing child pornography in the UK in 2016 before release.

Cole also used to visit rural areas in districts around Kathmandu, such as Dhading, and convince parents to send their children with him, by promising the parents a better life for their children.

As per the investigation and according to Cole’s confession, his major intention of coming to Nepal was to exploit children for sexual pleasure.

According to the investigation, Cole, before entering the country, used to rent apartments in different parts of the Valley.

At these apartments, he would sexually exploit children. His target would be children below 18 years of age, who came mostly from impoverished backgrounds, such as street children and children from rural areas.

In an effort to ‘groom’ them, Cole used to buy expensive clothes, feed them good food and convince them to come with him to his apartment, by promising them a better future.

After Cole would be successful in luring the children to his apartment, he would make the children sleep together and then sexually exploit them, according to CIB officials.

Cole also used to take children for trips to places like Pokhara and Nuwakot.

British teacher is sentenced to prison and a CANING for molesting a three-year-old girl in Singapore

An expat British teacher was yesterday sentenced to 18 months in jail and three strokes of the cane after he admitted molesting a three-year-old child at an education centre in Singapore.

Richard Christopher Monks, 29, was employed to teach reading to young children at a language centre on the island.

Monks was reportedly caught on CCTV lifting up the dress of his victim and touching her inappropriately with his left hand for 15 minutes.

Footage taken on October 20, 2018 also shows Monks using his right hand to point a camera up the girl’s skirt.

The teacher, who was 27 at the time, used his own mobile phone to film the abuse.

The girl’s parents became aware of the abuse when she expressed reluctance to attend future classes.

She complained that ‘teacher Richard’ touched her, prompting her mother to call the police.

It’s reported that there were six children present and the victim was the youngest. The others were between four and five years old.

After gathering his class to watch a video, Monks placed himself behind the students as he was aware that a CCTV camera was installed in a corner of the classroom

The children’s upper bodies blocked the camera’s view of his hands.

Footage reportedly showed Monks positioning himself behind the victim as he played a video on his phone.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Tan Hsiao Tien said the victim was ‘uncomfortable’ as she was fidgeting and turned back to look at the teacher several times.

Monks was arrested in 2018 after returning from a visit to Thailand.

He originally denied molesting the girl to police.

British teacher admits he molested 3-year-old girl during language class

During a class at a language training and literacy centre, a teacher from England molested a three-year-old pupil while the other children watched a video.

British national Richard Christopher Monks, 29, pleaded guilty on Monday (Feb 1) to one charge of using criminal force to outrage a minor’s modesty.

He had originally been set for a trial but decided to admit to the charge.

The court heard that Monks worked at a language centre that was not named in court documents. The students there were aged between two-and-a-half and 12.

The victim was 3 years and 11 months old at the time of the offence and attended Monks’ lessons at the centre every Saturday, calling him “Teacher Richard”.

On Oct 20, 2018, she went for her lesson in a classroom with a table in the middle of the room. The victim was the youngest in a class of six, with her classmates aged four or five.

At about 5.20pm, Monks gathered all the students to sit on one side of the table for a video-watching session, placing himself behind the students and opposite a closed-circuit television camera that he knew was in the room.

This way, the students’ upper bodies blocked the camera’s view of his hands, while the lower halves of the kids’ bodies could not be captured.

After playing a video on his phone and placing it on the table for the students to watch, Monks sat behind the victim and repeatedly slid his hand under her dress to molest her.

Monks was caught on CCTV repeatedly lifting the youngster’s pink dress and touching her bottom, while also pointing a camera up her skirt.

Uncomfortable at his touch, the victim expressed her discomfort by fidgeting and turning back to look at him several times. The clip of the incident was played in open court. Despite the victim’s reactions, Monks continued to molest the girl.

The crime went undetected until Oct 27, 2018, when the girl’s parents were preparing to take her to another of Monks’ lessons. The girl appeared reluctant, and when questioned, told her mother that “Teacher Richard” had touched her.

When asked where he touched her, the girl pointed to her buttocks and said this happened during the previous lesson. The victim’s mother lodged a police report that day and stopped taking their child for lessons at the centre.

Investigations showed that Monks had repeatedly pointed his handphone camera at the victim’s buttocks the day he molested her, but he left Singapore on Oct 27, 2018, the day the report was lodged.

He traveled to Thailand and returned to Singapore on Oct 31, 2018 and was arrested a day later. He claimed that he had lost his mobile phone in Thailand, so it cannot be determined how many photos or videos he had taken.

Monks will return to court for mitigation and sentencing on Wednesday.

For using criminal force to outrage the modesty of a minor, he could be jailed for up to five years, fined, caned, or given any combination of these punishments.

Paedophile who fled to Australia sentenced after 25 years on the run

A paedophile who was the target of a 25-year police manhunt after failing to appear in court in Grimsby has been jailed for seven years.

David Wilson (78) was extradited to the UK this year after a team of detectives flew to Australia during the pandemic to bring him back to the town to face justice for the horror caused to four victims.

He will spend the rest of his life on the sex offenders register, after admitting to historic child sex offences dating back to the ’80s and ’90s which police said ‘stole the innocence’ of two girls and two boys.

Over a number of years, he integrated himself into families with the intention of abusing vulnerable children.

Wilson, of Yaru Street, Queensland, had pleaded guilty to two counts of indecent assault, four counts of indecent assault on a male person and two counts of indecency with a child at an earlier court appearance and was sentenced in Grimsby Crown Court today (Monday) to seven years’ imprisonment.

He initially failed to appear in Grimsby Crown Court in 1995 charged with indecent assault against the two females, who were both under 14 when the abuse occurred.

Officers explored every possible avenue to try and track him down.

In 2013, the two men, who had been abused by Wilson when they were less than 14-years-old, came forward to police, providing new lines of enquiry to investigate.

A Humberside Police spokesperson said: “The painstaking investigation uncovered that David Wilson had changed his identity a number of times to avoid detection, holding a number of passports and driving licences in Australia and New Zealand under different names and dates of birth.

“He travelled between the two countries on a number of occasions between 1995 and 2020.”

After a co-ordinated effort between Humberside Police and Australian authorities, he was extradited to the UK in July 2020.
