Jailed: Leicester paedophile, 70, who preyed on two young girls

A man who sexually abused two girls more than 40 years ago has been locked up for his ‘horrific’ crimes.

Martin Roberts preyed on his young victims on various occasions between 1973 and 1992 and has finally been brought to justice.

The 70 year-old paedophile was today sent to prison for 16 years following a trial at Leicester Crown Court.

He was convicted of eight counts of indecent assault, four counts of indecency with a child, two counts of rape and two counts of attempted rape involving the first victim.

He as also found guilty of seven counts of indecent assault and two counts of indecency with a child involving the second victim.

Roberts, of Oxford Street, Leicester, was reported to police in 2018 after both victims – who had lost contact with one another – reconnected on social media.

They spoke to one another about the abuse they had suffered and provided statements.

Former Northants special constable had indecent images of children

A former special constable who served across Northamptonshire quit the county force over crimes involving indecent images of children.

Courtney Ravenscroft, 24, was the subject of a fast-track gross misconduct hearing just before Christmas after he was convicted at Northampton Magistrates’ Court last year.

He resigned before the hearing, which was chaired by chief constable Nick Adderley, and would have been dismissed without notice had he failed to do so.

Ravenscroft, of Primrose Close in Oakham, Rutland, was sentenced on September 25 after pleading guilty to two charges of making indecent images of children

Last year magistrates sentenced him to a community order with 100 hours of unpaid work.

Ravenscroft was also told he would be on the register for sex offenders for five years.

Police find videos of naked children and man having sex with chicken on phone

Police made a horrifying discovery when they looked at a man’s phone – discovering photographs of naked children and footage of a man having sex with a chicken.

Police officers in the Midlands found Andrew Brunt’s mobile phone during a raid on his home, and it revealed sickening material.

Mr Brunt, aged 40, who lives in Birmingham, would later go on to admit the possession of the 15 indecent images of children and the video.

But he told a court in Leicester, in the East Midlands, they were sent to him unsolicited and that he had failed to delete them.

At the moment, he is living in the city but is travelling to work in Loughborough and still sees his family

Prosecutor Quiana Fitzpatrick told Leicester Magistrates’ Court he surrendered his phone to the officers and analysts later found the indecent images of children aged three to 15 as well as the video

Ms Fitzpatrick told the court the children in some of the images were clothed, but there was also a number of naked images of children thought to be aged between three and five.

Of the latter group of children, she said: “They are posing for the camera and are in what appears to be in a studio setting.”

Brunt’s solicitor Ian Carter said: “There is no evidence of him searching for this kind of material. The police have checked his internet history.

“This material has been sent to him by another. It was not asked for and sadly he has retained it on his phone.

“He is receiving assistance for what he would say is addiction to adult pornography.

“His wife is standing by him. At the moment, he is living in Birmingham but is travelling to work in Loughborough and still sees his family.”

Magistrates accepted a prosecution application for a sexual harm prevention order, (SHPO) which will be in place for the next three years.

The full terms of Brunt’s order were not read out in court, but one restriction which was openly discussed means that he must not have ‘unsupervised contact with children under the age of 16 unless it was ‘unavoidable’.

Brunt will also take part in 20 rehabilitation sessions with specialists from the Probation Service and complete 100 hours of unpaid community work.

He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £90.

Man, 22, admits having sex with horse and filming it on his phone

A man has admitted having sex with a horse and filming the depraved act on his phone.

Isaac Cluley, 22, committed the offence in Leicester in August last year and was arrested later after a friend chanced upon the video when borrowing his phone.

The friend was appalled by what he saw and confronted Cluley before contacting the police.

Cluley, of Milligan Road, Aylestone, Leicester appeared at the city’s magistrates’ court yesterday to admit a single charge under the Sexual Offences Act 2003.

Following a brief hearing, magistrates sent his case to Leicester Crown Court, which has greater sentencing powers.

A psychiatric report will be prepared in time for the sentencing hearing, which is scheduled to take place at the end of the month.

Prosecutor Stacey Mills told the court that the friend had discovered the film when he used Cluley’s phone to seek help because the defendant was so drunk he was concerned for his welfare.

Ms Mills said: “He saw a video on the screen. He said it must have been left there since the phone was last used.

“The video showed someone having intercourse with a horse. It looked as though the person committing the act was also holding the phone.

“He thought the person in the video could be this defendant, so he decided to transfer the video to his phone.

“He says he did this because he thought this might be a police case.”

At this point, Cluley was so ill as a result of his alcohol consumption that he was taken to hospital by ambulance, Ms Mills said.

The young man later ‘confronted’ Cluley about the video.

“Initially the defendant denied it was him in the video, but eventually he did admit it,” Ms Mills said.

“He also said he had done it before and disclosed that the horse was near where he lived, in Great Central Way.”

At this stage the friend contacted Leicestershire Police to report Cluley.

“He was interviewed and ultimately admitted the offences.” Ms Mills added.

“On the way to the police station he said ‘I want help with my mental health. It is why I have been drinking more recently.’

Ms Mills said he was convicted of the same offence in 2016 and was sentenced at Leicester Crown Court to a community order.

The offence carries a maximum sentence of two years in custody.

His legal representative Kate Nield said a psychiatric assessment would be prepared in time for the hearing at the crown court on Friday, January 29.

In the meantime, Cluley is subject to a 9pm to 7am curfew throughout the week.

Convicted paedophile caught in undercover sting operation

An already convicted paedophile has avoided a prison sentence again, after he groomed what he believed were a number of schoolgirls for sex

Daniel Paul Coulson, aged 34, unemployed and from Leicester appeared at Leicester Crown Court where he was sentenced for sexual communication with a child

The court was told that Coulson had contacted the online profile of who he believed was a 13-year-old girl.

The pervert immediately sent sexually explicit messages.

He told the girl that she and her eight year old sister should sit on his lap naked whilst he poured custard over them. Another message told the girl that he wanted to see her naked in the bath whilst he used gunge on her.

As the chat progressed, Coulson became more depraved, telling the girl that he wanted her to molest her eight year old sisters vagina.

However, the girl did not exist and was instead a ‘decoy’ called Kath Morin from paedophile hunting team ‘No More Secrets – Isle of Wight’. The team handed their evidence pack into police who in turn arrested Coulson at his home

The police seized and analysed his phone and computer equipment and found Coulson had infact been speaking to five decoys in total.

Coulson had a previous conviction in 2009 after he was caught downloading indecent images of kids, including videos of girls as young as six being sexually abused by adult men.

After his arrest, Coulson spent four months on remand.

The judge sentenced to Coulson to 16 months imprisonment suspended for 24 months and handed him a three year community order

A 30 day Rehabilitation programme was aranged and a five year sexual harm prevention order was made.

He will be required to register as a sex offender with immediate effect.

Child sexual abuse images downloaded on housemate’s laptop

A former Reading student has been placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for downloading child sexual abuse images

Daniel Coulson, 22, admitted eight charges of making indecent images on a housemate’s computer while a student at The University of Reading in 2006.

The female friend had given him access to her computer while she was out of the house or away at weekends.

One evening in December 2006 she came back to the house and discovered “sex documents” on her laptop which had nothing to do with her.

She then got her friend’s boyfriend – a computer network security analyst – to investigate and they discovered Coulson had been downloading indecent images, including videos of girls as young as six being sexually abused by adult men.

Eight images were successfully recovered by police – one at level four, one at level three, another at level two and the rest at level one, the least severe.

Reading Crown Court heard on Friday that when confronted by his housemate, Coulson said: “I don’t know why I do this. Please don’t tell my parents. This is why they took my laptop off me.”

When interviewed by police, he also admitted to paying to access fetish sites on the internet.

Sentencing him, Judge Stephen John said: “Each image of this kind represents an occasion on which an innocent child has been abused.

“The potential for this kind of activity through the internet is great and the number of children abused in this way escalates the more someone accesses or downloads images of this kind. This has become much too common.

“For this reason, Parliament has decided that those who have downloaded them should normally go to custody. But I bear very much in mind that these are a tiny number of images overall.

“I also bear very much in mind your age and the time that’s passed since the offences.

“I’m satisfied that you suffer from Asperger’s which affects the way in which you relate to people around you but I hope you understand how inappropriate your behaviour was and you have some insight into its effects on other people.”

For each of the counts, Coulson was given two-year community orders to run concurrently, with a supervision requirement for two years.

He was also told to go on a Community Sex Offender Group Programme and placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for five years.

Coulson, of Glenfield Road, Leicester, was also banned from owning his own computer, ordered to pay £474 in costs and banned from having any contact with a child under the age of 16 without another adult present for three years.
