Alresford man admits possessing indecent images of children

AN Alresford man is awaiting sentence after admitting possessing indecent photographs of children.

Ian Tillett, 60, of Arlebury Park, appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates Court to plead guilty two counts of possessing the images between January 7 2017 and January 19 2020. There were eight photos covered by the charges, magistrates were told.

Tillett was released on unconditional bail to return for sentence at Basingstoke on May 12. A pre-sentence report will be prepared.

Man and woman jailed for abusing children in Southampton

TWO people have been jailed for a catalogue of sexual offences committed against three girls in Southampton over a 12-year period.

Two of the victims were sitting in court as Kim Raquet and Tina Haynes were locked up for 12 years and three years respectively.

The offences were committed between 1981 and 1993, when the girls were aged nine-15.

Following a trial at Southampton Crown Court Raquet, 61, of Goodlands Cale, Hedge End, was convicted of six offences of indecent assault and one of indecency with a child.

Haynes, 57, of Hunts Mead, Sherbourne, Dorset, was convicted of three counts of child cruelty and one of indecency with a child.

The crimes came to light after after police were finally alerted in 2017, the court heard.

In a personal impact statement read to the court one of the victims said: “One of the hardest things I had to do was tell my husband and children what happened to me and ask for their support.

“Having to tell my parents was so difficult. To see them visibly upset made me so angry.”

Referring to the ordeal of giving evidence at the trial she added: “I have never been so scared, nervous and humiliated in my life.”

Judge Christopher Parker QC said the victims suffered “severe psychological harm” as a result of being abused “again and again”.

He told the defendants: “The harm you caused – particularly you Mr Raquet – could only be assessed as severe. This investigation and the trial process has touched the rawest of nerves.

“The vast majority of the offences were committed not over days, weeks or months but over years.”

Judge Parker said Raquet was the main perpetrator but told Haynes: “You had plenty of choices you could exercise which these girls could not.”

Winchester man caught by paedophile hunter pretending to be a 12-year-old girl

A Winchester man who was snared by a paedophile hunter after he asked for nude photographs of a child, he believed was 12-years-old, has been spared prison.

Just three months after he was convicted of a raft of sexual offences, Dean Mould used the internet to ask a “12-year-old girl” to send pictures of herself naked.

But Mould, of Christchurch Road, was actually talking to “self-styled paedophile hunter”, who sent the images but later informed police. The 35-year-old was arrested.

He was charged with intentionally causing or inciting a girl under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity and breaching a sexual harm prevention order. He previously pleaded guilty.

On Wednesday, Winchester Crown Court was told that Mould breached the order as he had not informed police of a phone, he was using to access the internet.

In July last year Mould was found guilty of four offences of sexual communication with a child, eight counts of being in possession of indecent and extreme images and one of distribution. He offended again on October 27, but his criminality was not discovered until December 27.

During that sentencing a sexual harm prevention order and a supervision order was imposed. Mould, who is said to be “marred by learning difficulties”, was also given a care plan with a psychiatric team on his release from custody.

The court heard that Mould “did not want to engage” and the plan was not carried out.

In sentencing, Judge Miller said: “I hoped when I sentenced you in July of last year that I would not be seeing you again. In fact, survived only about three months before you are committing offences again.”

Mould was given a three-year community order, with 40 rehabilitation days and must attend a sexual offending treatment programme.

Pensioner jailed for sex offences against children in the New Forest

A perverted pensioner who sexually assaulted a child, and indecently assaulted two other young children, has been jailed.

Michael Wort, of no fixed abode, committed the offences against three different children between 1971 and 2019.

The incidents took place at addresses in the New Forest, the exact location has not been disclosed.

The 69 year old was found guilty at Southampton Crown Court of three offences including one count of sexual assault of a girl under 13 (by touching) and two counts of indecent assault of a girl under 16.

Hampshire Constabulary say one offence took place against a child in 1971, three offences that took place against another child between 1985 and 1986 and two offences that took place against a further child between 2018 and 2019.

Wort was sentenced to a total of five years in prison.

He was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life and given an indefinite Restraining Order against contacting his victims.

Portsmouth dad caught with paedophile manual and 400 abuse images spared jail

A man caught with a paedophile manual had nearly 400 child abuse images he used to ‘relieve stress,’ a court heard.

David Woods, 50, had used the dark web to locate pictures of girls aged nine to 13 claiming he did so as he was ‘depressed’.

The dad-of-one, of Drayton Road, North End, had previously belonged to an online group of ‘people who had those sexual feelings towards children but did not want to act on them’.

Portsmouth Crown Court heard officers monitoring peer-to-peer file-sharing networks traced Woods and raided his home.

He confessed to looking at the images as recently as a couple of days before the raid, prosecutor Janice Brennan said.

He would ‘start to watch a little bit, relieve the stress and then delete,’ she said.

Some 104 child abuse images were found – with these classed as category A, the worst. Another 53 at B and 235 at C were found split between his laptop and computer.

Woods had installed sophisticated file deletion software on his computer, and used a browser that did not save images.

‘To his credit he accepted full responsibility and did not evade anything that was put to him,’ said Ms Brennan of his second police interview.

Woods had 11 pages of a ‘paedophile manual’ on his Samsung laptop.

Recorder Paul Garlick QC imposed an eight-month jail sentence suspended for two years.

Woods must complete 60 hours’ unpaid work with 40 days’ rehabilitation activities.

He admitted three charges of making indecent images, and possessing a paedophile manual.

Woods must sign the sex offenders’ register for 10 years. An order was made restricting his internet use indefinitely.
