Paedophile was in Felinheli house where a child stayed

A convicted child rapist was jailed for a year after he admitted failing to comply with his notification requirements.

John Cervi, aged 36, of Bangor Street, Felinheli, didn’t tell police he was in a house where a child stayed.

Caernarfon crown court heard he had served a seven-year sentence. “In trying to put your past behind, you buried your head in the sand,” Judge Nicola Jones told him.

Depraved Bangor paedophile’s stash of sick images so extensive police gave up counting them

A vile pervert with a collection of extreme child abuse images was today jailed for three years.

Carl Thomas Morgan’s hoard of pictures and videos was  so extreme it included pictures of someone having sex with a dead baby and the corpse of a teenager.

Morgan’s vile stash contained over 150,000 images and videos – so many that police gave up counting.

Of the 956 images that were analysed, 337 were placed in the worst category.

Many showed girls aged from newborn to 15 in “extreme distress” being raped and violently abused.

Rhys Rothwell prosecuting said analysis of the material showed Morgan’s “enjoyment of necrophilia, paedophilia and rape,” Mold Crown Court heard.

He said Morgan, 28, of Garth Road, Bangor also had an interest in familial sex abuse as well as children being abused while intoxicated or drugged.

Some images also contained animals.

Outlining the case, Mr Rothwell said it was in November 2018 that the social media site, Kik Messenger reported that users in a private group had shared a number of videos “depicting serious child abuse”.

An “indecent” 13-second clip had been shared by a user called TheTitch00 – the IP addresses of which were traced back to Morgan’s home in Cornwall and to his university address in Bangor.

Police executed a search warrant at the Bangor address and seized Morgan’s phone and laptop.

When he was arrested and questioned, he admitted being TheTitch00 and accepted he’d uploaded the image, but claimed he was part of a vigilante group searching the dark web for evidence to catch paedophiles.

Mr Rothwell said: “He said he knew what he was doing was illegal but was willing to sacrifice himself for the greater good.”

But Morgan said he’d accidentally deleted all information about the vigilante group some months beforehand, the prosecution added.

Forensic analysis of the phone and laptop found more than 150,000 images.

Of the 956 that were categorised, 337 were listed as Category A.

Mr Rothwell said: “Several depict sex with corpses, one of a newborn and one of a 14-year-old girl covered in blood.”

During a second interview, Morgan denied any sexual interest in children and said he’d been “intrigued from a medical perspective” about some of the more extreme images and was “curious about human nature and its ability to participate in such behaviour”.

He pleaded guilty to seven charges including one of distributing an indecent image, three of making indecent images, one of possessing prohibited images and two of possessing extreme images.

Sentencing him to three years in jail, Judge, Timothy Petts said: “In November 2018, you shared…a disgusting video of child abuse.

“You were traced. Your computer was examined.

“It was found to be riddled with horrendous videos and images of abuse, so many that the police stopped counting.

“Everyone who searches for, downloads and shares such images plays their part in the abuse of children.”

Morgan was also made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order and ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for life.

North Wales paedophile committed so many crimes it took 22 minutes to read charges to him

A man who admitted carrying out a “campaign of rape” on a number of girls has been told he faces a “very long prison sentence”.

Trefor Keith Jones appeared before a judge via videolink from custody at Caernarfon Crown Court and pleaded guilty to 36 charges of rape, sexual assault and causing a child to watch a sexual activity.

The court clerk took 22 minutes to read out all 42 charges and take pleas from the 48-year-old.

The court heard the offences related to four girls who were under 13 when the offences began.

Prosecutor Simon Rogers told the court Jones had carried out a campaign of rape over a number of years, from 2007 until earlier this year.

He said discussions had taken place with the victims, who are all now adults, and no trial would be sought on the six charges Jones denied.

Adjourning sentence for reports Judge Timothy Petts said: “You have pleaded guilty to a horrific series of offences and the only sentence is that of a very long prison sentence.

“I need to consider the question of the danger you pose to others and I need to hear from your victims therefore I am adjourning sentence.

“The fact you have pleaded guilty will stand you in good stead.”

The judge ordered Jones, whose address was given in court as High Street, Bangor but is formerly of Anglesey, to be present at the sentencing hearing at Caernarfon in September.

During the 35-minute hearing Jones spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and to enter his pleas.

Jones was told he will be required to sign the Sex Offenders Register. The length of time will be determined at the next hearing.

Four years jail for man who ‘groomed and manipulated’ schoolgirl

A 37-year-old Gwynedd man had “groomed and manipulated” a child before sexual intercourse took place, a judge said on Thursday when he jailed the pervert for four years.

Leon Owen, of Chapel Street, Porthmadog, received a sexual harm prevention order and must register as a sex offender.

He admitted admitted penetrative sexual activity with a girl under 16.

Owen, who used to live in Barmouth, was also made the subject of an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention order and will remain on the sex offenders register for life.

Judge Nicola Jones at Caernarfon crown court told him: “Your attitude towards the offending is extremely concerning. You have a lack of victim empathy.”

Defence barrister Elen Owen said he was now in a relationship with a woman who was aware of this case.

Paedophile who fled to Africa from North Wales jailed for nine years in his absence

A child abuser who was sentenced to nine years has fled justice – to Africa.

Maclear Dilla, 40 was convicted by a jury in his absence at Mold Crown Court last month after he failed to turn up.

The former factory worker committed offences against a girl aged under 16 when he lived in Bethesda, Gwynedd and in Chester between 2006 and 2008, the court heard.

Dilla had pleaded guilty to one charge of kissing her but denied five other allegations of sexual activity with a child, including having sex.

Anna Pope, prosecuting, said the victim stated she’d become “extremely paranoid”.

In an impact statement the girl, now a young woman, had said she didn’t feel safe with men, and was insecure in company.

She had felt ashamed for not saying no to Dilla but had now started to accept that she was not responsible, being a child when her abuser took advantage of her.

Judge Huw Rees said Dilla had come to this country in the early 2000s to join his wife.

He had not sought to coerce the girl in a violent way but it was “a classic case of grooming” and he used her “as a vehicle for his sexual lust.”

The judge remarked: “My overview is that this is a serious set of sexual abuse over a two or three year period.”

Indefinite sexual harm and reporting orders were made.

A crown court arrest warrant has been issued.
