Pervert caught by paedophile hunters

A “pathetic pervert” was snared by a group of paedophile hunters after he begged ‘a 14-year-old girl’ to take off her knickers.

Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court heard how Steven Fairhurst, 36, thought he was talking online to girls aged as young as 11 when he was in fact conversing with adult women using decoy accounts.

Rachel Shenton, prosecuting, described how the woman belonging to a group set up the undercover social media account using the name ‘Jenz’ and putting her age as 14.

In October 2018 she was contacted by Fairhurst who told her to keep the communication secret as he began to ask to see her naked and told her how he wanted to touch her genitalia.

The communication moved on to Whatsapp with Fairhurst, of Bury Road, Tottington, making similar repeated requests over the next few months.

On July 4 2019, a male member of the paedophile group contacted police to say he had “detained a male predator” after he had pretended to be an adult female who had agreed to meet with Fairhurst in Tottington.

The confrontation was live-streamed on Facebook and screen shots of his messages were handed to police officers.

After Fairhurst’s arrest his mobile phone was seized and sexual communication with another adult female using a fake account and pretending to be an 11-year-old girl called ‘Chloe’ was discovered.

Mark Friend, defending, said Fairhurst, who pleaded guilty to 15 counts of attempting to engage in sexual communications with a child, and attempting to incite a child into sexual activity, was “isolated”.

Sentencing Fairhurst, who had no previous convictions, to three years in prison, Judge Tina Langdale, said she found that his learning disability was not a factor in his offending.

“The pre-sentence report identifies that you pose a high risk to girls and these offences are so serious that only a custodial sentence can be justified,” she added.

Paedophile hunters catch man who thought he was meeting 13-year-old girl for sex

A father who attempted to meet up with a ’13-year-old girl’ for sex was left ‘humiliated’ as he was instead met with a group of paedophile hunters – who proceeded to live stream their confrontation.

40-year-old Raymond Carpenter had pre-arranged to meet what he thought was a ‘child’ at Piccadilly station in Manchester

He had previously sent the ‘girl’, who was actually in fact an adult woman using a ‘fake’ account, a picture of his genitals and had sent sexualised messages online.

A court heard how Carpenter had been left ‘humiliated’ as the group, known as the Elusive Child Protection Unit, published a live stream of the confrontation on social media platform Facebook.

The video, in which Carpenter claims he ‘made a mistake’, has since been viewed over 250,000 times.

Now Carpenter, a father-of-four, has been jailed for two years.

Carpenter, from Oldham, began chatting with the ‘girl’, known as Kimberley, asking her ‘are you a good girl or naughty?’

During the conversation the ‘girl’ told him she was 13.

The chat became sexual and he asked whether she had seen a ‘man’s bits’, and if she had ever ‘played with herself’.

When Carpenter asked if she wanted to see ‘under his boxer shorts’, the girl said she was worried she might get in trouble.

He said if the girl deleted their chats then no-one else would know, Minshull Street Crown Court heard.

Carpenter again asked if she wanted to see his genitals, and he sent a picture.

He also sent a picture of him holding a snake, saying ‘it was as big as his privates’.

Carpenter told the ‘child’ he wanted to have sex with her, later asking to meet up.

He said he would ‘only do dirty things if she wanted to’.

He asked her to wear red knickers as he ‘liked’ the colour.

The decoy account passed the details of the arranged meet up to other members of the group.

About ten people confronted Carpenter at the station on July 5 last year, and the police also attended.

Mr Elias said Carpenter is remorseful and has no previous convictions for sexual offences.

“He found it exciting and fell into the trap that was prepared for him,” he said.

“His world has crashed down around him.

“He was in tears this afternoon as I went through the sentencing guidelines.

“He is desperately sorry.”

The barrister appealed for Carpenter to be spared jail, noting there was no real victim.

“There is no good in locking him up, only harm to him and humiliation,” Mr Elias said.

“He has been thoroughly humiliated already by these paedophile hunters.

“It is an offence in his own fantasy, an offence in his mind.

“It was never going to happen.”

But the judge, Recorder Michael Duck QC, said the offence was too serious.

Carpenter, of Oldham Road, Failsworth, pleaded guilty to attempting to engage in sexual communications with a child, attempting to incite a child into sexual activity, and arranging or facilitating the commission of a child sex offence.

Oldham paedophile set up coffee shop to lure teenage boys

A paedophile who set up a coffee shop to groom two young boys who were “desperate for Saturday work” has been jailed.

Callum Townsend advertised the roles in Oldham, Greater Manchester, on social media and asked the two 15-year-olds for explicit photographs, police said.

Police described him as a “pernicious predator” who manipulated the two boys’ desperation for some Saturday work by enticing them to believe they had a chance of getting a job.

The 29-year-old admitted four child sex offences and was sentenced to three years at Bolton Crown Court.

Townsend’s offending began in October 2018 when he announced he was opening a small business in Oldham town centre, the court heard.

In the process of recruiting, he spoke separately to the victims online over the course of the next two weeks.

He gradually became more intrusive, asking one of them to show him a picture of their underwear, Greater Manchester Police said.

Townsend requested the same of the second victim before apologising the next day and saying he was drunk. But he messaged a further time, asking for a photo of the boy’s genitals.

Police were informed of Townsend’s actions and he was arrested.

Detectives seized his mobile phone and charged him with two counts of sexual communication with a child and two counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

Taxi driver drove 45 minutes to meet ’13-year-old girl’ for sex

A taxi driver from south Manchester who drove nearly 50 miles to meet a ’13-year-old girl’ for sex was met by paedophile hunters

Dad Naveed Ashraf, 37, from Levenshulme, drove to Kidsgrove in North Staffordshire with a pizza for the ‘girl’ and was later found to have condoms and viagra in his car along with red roses and a gift bag.

However, the girl, who he had previously been messaging for several months, was in fact a decoy set up by the group Justice4Kids who then filmed him arriving at the meeting point and confronted him.

They also alerted police and the footage was passed to officers to ensure Ashraf, was put safely behind bars

He is now beginning a three-year sentence for child sex offences.

The shocking footage begins with the exposers arriving at the scene on January 3 this year and quizzing the married dad-of-two being about his online sex chats with the young girl.

In the 40-minute film – which was live-streamed on Facebook – the defendant looks sheepish as his reaction to the questioning is filmed.

A camera is shined in his face as a man explains he is to be arrested for online grooming and trying to meet a child.

One of the group says: “Today you’ve come all the way from Manchester to Stoke-on-Trent here today to order a pizza for a 13-year-old girl. And you were going back to stay at her property.

“You text the child to let them know you were in the takeaway and you were going to meet her.”

Another hunter – who had a print out of the online chats – adds: “You’ve clearly been speaking to a 13-year-old girl knowingly. You have incited sex.

“What’s all this about leggings? You’ve got a right thing about leggings. Every other page is about leggings.

“One question I really do want to ask you. In these chat logs there was a point where you were trying to arrange to meet the child out in an open space and you were quite concerned that it was cold. And what did you say to her?

“You said ‘don’t worry I’ll keep you warm by rubbing your bum and thighs’. I think that a coat would have been a bit better.”

Ashraf finally admits he was planning to meet a child for sex which he is then told is ‘statutory rape’.

He goes on to say he feels ‘sad’ and claims it is the first time he’s ever done this.

At one point he nearly faints as he goes into shock.

He says: “I feel very bad. My wife is going to be very angry. Forgive me this time. I haven’t done anything before. Please. I wouldn’t rape anyone. I’m ashamed of myself.

“I wasn’t going to do anything, I was just going to eat pizza.”

Ashraf is then told that the police are on the way as he remains with his head bowed.

At one point he breaks down in tears and repeatedly shakes his head as he’s told he will be going to prison.

The camera then pans to the pizza and chips he had bought in the takeaway as a crowd starts to gather.

After nearly three quarters of an hour, two officers arrive on the scene and Ashraf is led away as the footage comes to an end.

Ashraf had asked the girl to send him pictures or herself in leggings and her private area his sentencing hearing at Stoke-On-Trent Crown Court was told.

He also sent her pictures of sex positions.

Prosecutor Nick Tatlow said the defendant attempted to incite a 13-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity on July 29, 2019.

Then, between November 2019 and January 2020, he tried to arrange sexual activity with another 13-year-old girl from Kidsgrove, who was in fact a decoy set up by Justice4Kids.

The defendant contacted the girl and said, ‘Do you want to have sex with me?’.

Mr Tatlow said: “She responded saying she was only 13. He replied saying, ‘It’s OK, we do gently and we use condoms’. He reassured her sex was easy with condoms.”

he defendant then asked the girl about her private area and asked where they should have sex.

Mr Tatlow said: “He said they could meet at his house and he would pick her up. He sent her his mobile number on WhatsApp.”

The defendant asked the girl to send him pictures or herself in leggings and her private area. And he told her to take a picture with her legs wide open.

Mr Tatlow said: “He sent her pictures of sexual positions. He told her to delete the pictures.”

Following the defendant’s arrest, his phone was analysed and google searches including, ‘Is it ok to have sex with a 13-year-old girl’? were found.

Ashraf, of Longden Road, Levenshulme, was jailed for three years at this week after pleading guilty to attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity; attempting to arrange or facilitate sexual activity with a child; and two charges of possession of an indecent image of a child.

He was also made the subject of an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and was placed on the sex offenders’ register for life.

Paedophile exposed himself to girl on Russian app video call while others watched – he also had vile pictures of children

A paedophile that exposed himself to a young girl on a video call on a Russian app while others watched has now been jailed

Minshull Street Crown Court heard Amiri, from Crumpsall, downloaded the OKLive app on May 6 last year.

It allows users to take part in video calls while other people watch.

Amiri talked to children, before blowing them kisses, sticking his tongue out and telling them he loved them.

He asked a young girl to expose herself. When she did, Amiri exposed himself and began to perform an indecent act.

The girl became increasingly distressed, the court heard.

Among those watching was a member of the ‘paedophile hunter’ group Cobra UK.

Cops searched his property and recovered two mobile phones, which contained a number of indecent images of children.

One phone had 17 ‘category C’ images, while the other had one ‘category B’ image.

In mitigation, it was said Amiri had struggled to deal with the loss of his parents in 2018 and 2020 – and that he had shown ‘naivety, stupidity and amateurishness’.

The court heard there was a ‘lack of sophistication’ to his crime.

Judge Mary Prior QC jailed Amiri for 16 months.

She told him: “It is plain to me, as your guilty plea says, that you engaged in sexual activity with a child

“The fact that you did not touch [the victim] is noted… [but] the distress is just as real to a victim over video, even if you were not present in the room.

“It is plain to me that you have a sexual interest in children.”

Ali Amiri, of Eadington Street, pleaded guilty to engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child under 13; making an indecent photograph; and distributing an indecent photograph.

He was made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order for 10 years and ordered to sign the sex offender register for 10 years.
