Paedophile spared jail after deleting pornographic internet history

A convicted paedophile who deleted pornographic sites from his internet history because he felt “ashamed” has been warned he will be jailed if he does it again.

James Darker (37) was given an 18-month community order after he deleted history from his mobile phone in Rotherham last January and February.

Prosecutor Ms Tayo Dasaolu said Darker was given a sexual harm prevention order in April 2019 when he was convicted at Manchester Crown Court of arranging to meet a girl aged under 16 following grooming and attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.

He was sentenced to two years in prison, suspended for two years, and was banned from deleting his internet history as part of a sexual harm prevention order.

Pervert caught by paedophile hunting team

A pervert from Oldham that believed he was grooming a 13 year old girl for sex has avoided a prison sentence

James Dean Darker, 36 of Oldham appeared at Manchester Crown Court, where he pleaded guilty to:

• One count of attempting to meet a child under 16 following sexual grooming

• One count of sexual communication with a child under 16

The court was told that in December 2018, Darker had contacted the online profile he believed belonged to a 13 year old girl.

For the next three months Darker sent sexually explicit messages and images to the child. He wrote love poetry in a bid to groom the child further, and even told her that he would get a tattoo of her name on himself.

In February 2019, Darker told the girl he wanted to meet her for sexual activity and promised her several gifts including a necklace and watch that she could collect from his house.

In one message, Darker told the girl: ‘If I finger you, and you don’t like it, then I will stop’

The child asked what he meant, and Darker replied: ‘I would put my finger in your vagina and tickle your clit, but don’t worry it don’t hurt at all. Most girls love it, well actually every girl likes it cause it turns them on’

Darker arranged to meet the girl at Rochdale tram station on February 9th.

The day arrived and Darker waited patiently. However, the girl did not exist and was instead a adult member of paedophile hunting team SGTI – Safeguarding The Innocent.

Due to the location, the team passed the evidence to another hunting team called ‘North West Hebephile Hunters’ who had positioned themselves at the ‘meeting place’. 

The team approached Darker and explained who they were. They questioned him on his internet activity, and explained that he would be arrested. 

Darker was arrested, questioned by police and released on bail. However, he quickly breached his conditions and was remanded to prison until his sentencing date of April 1st.

The judge handed Darker a 18 month prison sentence which was suspended for 24 months

A 10 year Sexual harm prevention order was made and he was told to register as a sex offender for a period of 10 years
