Rapist asks victim to visit him in prison
A second victim of serial child rapist Darren Myhill has told of her anger at receiving a letter sent by him from prison.
Sick Myhill even asked the woman, still struggling to come to terms with his perverted crimes, to come and visit her in prison and to bring her daughter, whom he also admitted abusing – and offered to “pay their petrol money”.
Last week we reported how one of his victims, now a teenager, had been left in tears and frightened to leave the house after receiving a letter telling how he “still loved her”.
The Ministry of Justice have said they have launched an investigation into how Myhill was able to send the letters from Holme House Prison in Stockton, written on official prison notepaper and marked with an official stamp.
Myhill, of Throckley, Newcastle, was sentenced to 13-and-a-half years in jail after he admitted 22 charges of rape, indecency with a child, indecent assault and incitement against five victims aged between nine and 16.
The pervert was found to have kept a scrapbook of photos of his victims and a checklist of the sick acts he had carried out.
He was originally sentenced to 13-and-a-half years in prison, of which just six would be served in jail with the rest on licence.
But the court of appeal found the 45-year-old’s punishment to be “unduly lenient” and handed Myhill a sentence of indefinite imprisonment for public protection.
Now another of his victims has come forward to demand answers into the breach of prison procedures which say victims should not be contacted without permission from the Governor.
She said: “He abused me and my daughter and expected me to come and visit him and bring her with me. How is he able to send a letter like that? We thought we could get away from this now he is in prison, but he is still managing to hurt us and just seems to do what he wants.”
The Ministry of Justice said prisoner’s phone calls and letters are subject to “robust” monitoring.

He won’t ruin rest of my life: Rape victim defiant after paedo’s soft jail term extended

A child-rape victim says she can finally start her life again after the monster who attacked her for years was told he could spend the rest of his life behind bars.
The girl suffered in silence throughout her childhood, too terrified to tell anyone of the weekly abuse she suffered at the hands of vile predator Darren Myhill.
When she finally found the courage to speak out, she was devastated to hear that despite admitting numerous sex charges against a number of young girls, Myhill could be out of prison in as little six years.
But outrage at the soft sentence handed to the paedophile at Newcastle Crown Court in March sparked an appeal.
And now after ruling the 45-year-old’s punishment to be “unduly lenient”, top judges at London’s Court of Appeal have quashed the original sentence and handed Myhill a sentence of indefinite imprisonment for public protection (IPP).
That means he cannot be considered for release for 10 years and could still spend the rest of his life behind bars.
His longest-suffering victim has told of her relief at the U-turn.
The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said: “I was always worried about the day he would be let out.
“But now I have 10 years to get on with my life and start again. He may have stolen my childhood, but I’m not going to let him ruin my life.”
Myhill, of Throckley, Newcastle, began abusing her when she was a schoolgirl and raped her regularly for a number of years.
“I was too young to understand what was going on,” she said. “I felt like I was the one in the wrong.
“I was totally intimidated by him. I was scared to tell anyone. But I thought it was only me he was doing it to.”
It was only when another victim came forward that the girl found the courage to tell her mother and eventually police.
Myhill admitted 22 charges of rape, indecency with a child, indecent assault and incitement against five victims aged between nine and 16.
He was originally sentenced to 13-and-a-half years in prison, of which just six would be served in jail with the rest on licence.
But under the terms of the new sentence, Myhill will only be released if a parole board finds he no longer poses a risk to the public – and that cannot happen until he has served at least 10 years.
Myhill’s campaign of abuse began when he was a teenager in the 1980s and only ended last year when he was caught molesting a victim. Others then came forward to report abuse.
Chillingly, the pervert was found to have kept a scrapbook of photos of his victims and a checklist of the sick acts he had carried out.

Serial Child Rapist Who Kept Polaroid Scrapbook Of Abuse Is Jailed
A serial child rapist who kept a scrapbook detailing his abuse of girls over the course of four decades has been jailed.
Darren Myhill preyed on five schoolgirls and kept photos of his victims and a ‘check-list’ of the acts he had carried out.
The 44-year-old even filmed some of his attacks via webcam and posted them to an online chatroom for others to watch, Newcastle Crown Court heard.
Myhill began abusing girls when he was a teenager in the 1980s, before he was caught last April after molesting his last victim.
His arrest prompted other girls who had suffered abuse at his hands to come forward.
The girls had been aged between nine and 16.
Jailing him for 13 and a half years, Judge Simon Hickey told him: “You kept a Polaroid journal of your victims and a tick box of what acts you wished them to perform.
“You knew what you were doing and you knew that it was wrong.”
Judge Hickey imposed a lifetime Sex Offender Prevention order, disqualified Myhill from ever working with young people and ordered him to register as a sex offender indefinitely.
Myhill, from Stanley, County Durham, but living in Northumberland when he began his campaign, groomed the five youngsters once he had singled them out as targets.
He used a combination of threats and presents to ensure they stayed silent.
Myhill admitted 22 charges of rape, indecency with a child, indecent assault and incitement.
