Carshalton man jailed for five years after grooming 19 girls on Facebook

A 25-year-old telecoms engineer who groomed 14 year olds onFacebook for sex was sentenced to five years in prison yesterday.

Croydon Crown Court heard how Glen Wilson befriended 19 girls on the social networking site over two years and invited them guess the size of his penis for a £1000 prize.

Wilson, of Robertsbridge Road, Carshalton, told one of the girls he was in the Guinness Book of Records for being the most well endowed man in the world.

He used the user name “Horseboy” on MSN messenger and attempted to get girls as young as 13 to undress on their web cam, while we masturbated in front of his.

Wilson, a BT telecoms engineer, managed to convince seven girls between 2009 and 2012, to meet him in person before taking them for a drive to quiet locations where he would proposition them.

He had told girls a variety of stories to convince them to meet him, including that he was a wealthy porn model who would shower them with gifts of shoes and clothes which he had been given through modelling.

The girls, none of whom can be named for legal reasons, were told by Wilson he would pay them £1000 to guess the size of his penis, and would sometimes go further and offer them money in return for sexual favours.

In one instance he drove two girls to Farnborough Football Ground and said he would give them a lot more money if they “could get their hands around it”, and in another he put a 14-year-old girl’s hand on his penis and told her “don’t be shy”.

Wilson pleaded guilty to ten counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, six counts of meeting a child following sexual grooming, and one count of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child.

Police searched his house and found notes in his bedroom with a list of girls, a resignation letter to BT, and a note which said: “The clothes and the shoes are just an excuse to get girls to meet me because I’m not very good looking.”

In sentencing Wilson, Judge Shani Barnes, said: “There is no escaping the fact you prayed on young girls and it is no coincidence they are all 13 and 14. An extraordinarily large number of girls have fallen pray to you and I have no doubt you would have carried on had you not have been caught.”
