Mum blasts evil Rutherglen paedo’s nine month sentence

THE mother of the victim of vile paedophile Douglas Alexander has blasted the nine month sentence handed to the ex-cop – but she has admitted to fearing he would not even be caged.

Disgusting Alexander, from Rutherglen, was jailed on Monday for enticing his seven-year-old victim to go for a sleep, before sneaking in beside the youngster and sexually abusing her.

The sick 72-year-old encouraged his victim to touch his penis by naming it “tinky winky”.

The girl’s mother, who cannot be named, has slammed the paltry sentence, which could see Alexander released by the summer. But she has lost so much faith in the British legal system that she thought he might escape a jail term due to courses he is currently undertaking aimed at rehabilitating perverts.

The mother wasn’t in court to hear the verdict, after being left disappointed on several occasions when no sentence was passed down.

She said she was numb when she was told the news over the phone: “To be honest I didn’t have a reaction when I heard because I was too scared to hope for anything.

“If I hoped for something and it came against me, I would have been devastated.

“I know how the system operates. Anything was a bonus – there was a chance he might not even have gone to jail. I knew he could have got away with community service because of the courses he has been doing.”

Having had time to take in the news, the woman is now furious at the sentence, which lasts less than the period in which Alexander carried out his despicable crimes.

She said: “The fact is he abused my daughter for over a year and I would have expected at least the equivalent for him in jail.”

The mother said the daughter is still too young to fully appreciate what has happened to her abuser, saying: “She’s just happy he has gone to jail, but we have told her what should have happened and he should have been going for longer.”

The mother added: “I was in court when he pled guilty and he was kidding on he was crying and shaking, but he wasn’t doing any of that when he was abusing my wee lassie.”

Alexander, of Lochbrae Court, spent 30 years as a police officer. He was sentenced at Glasgow Sheriff Court and will be placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years.
