Paedophile sent ’13-year-old girl’ video of him masturbating

A paedophile sent a video of him masturbating to what he thought was a 13-year-old girl and told her to take her knickers off whilst at school.

Nicholas Owen logged onto the messaging site Chatiw and began talking to a user who told him that she was a child but was in fact an undercover police officer.

He messaged her pictures of an erect penis and asked to move the conversation onto the app Kik. The next day he asked if she was “a naughty girl” whilst she was at school.

Prosecuting, Andrew Houston said: “He suggested that she should go to the toilet and put her knickers in her bag. He was sent a picture of a pair of white knickers.

“He told her he was very proud of her for what she had done.”

Owen discussed oral sex with the girl, Mr Houston said: “He describes how she would feel when he did that”.

Winchester Crown Court heard that Owen was sent a picture of ‘the girl’, in response he sent a video of him masturbating and said she “looked utterly delicious”.

Owen told the girl that “she could call him daddy” and when discussing about her taking her knickers off he said: “If you knew what it did to my c*** you wouldn’t feel silly at all”.

Mr Houston said that Owen described himself as a “responsible adult” and “sort of happily married but the sex life has died off”.

He was arrested at his home in Ecchinswell and pleaded guilty to attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, attempting to cause a child to watch an image of sexual activity and making indecent images of children – Category C.

The offences occurred between September 19 and September 26, 2018.

The 59-year-old, now of Hadleigh Close, Swindon, was supported by his wife and family in the public gallery on Friday.

In sentencing, Mr Recorder Adam Feest QC said: “You persisted in sexual chat with that child as far as you were concerned.

“The talk between the two of you only on your part was explicit. You on one occasion sent a short video of you masturbating which appears to have been in response to an image sent to you of a teenage girl.”

Owen was given an 18-month prison sentence suspended for two years. He must complete 30 rehabilitation days and is subject to a sexual harm prevention order and registration for 10 years.

Chippenham man admits repeatedly raping child over several years

A Chippenham man has pleaded guilty to the repeated rape of a child aged under 13

Alan Thursby, 23, appeared before Swindon Crown Court this morning where he admitted charges of rape of a child under the age of 13 and rape.

Crown prosecutor Tessa Hingston said the defendant, of Royal Close, raped the young girl on at least 20 occasions over many years – beginning in 2014.

Judge Jason Taylor QC told Thursby to expect a lengthy jail term.

He ordered a pre-sentence report and psychiatric assessment.

He was given conditional bail ahead of sentencing at Swindon Crown Court on 18 June.

Sentence delayed as judge demands further checks on paedophile’s computer

A judge asked for more work to be done after it emerged that the police had only categorised around a thousand images out of around half a million found on a paedophile’s computers.

Stephen Soar, 52, had expected to be sentenced at Swindon Crown Court on Friday after he admitted possession of more than 1,350 child sex abuse images – with the majority, 1,321, in the lowest category.

But Judge Peter Crabtree adjourned the case until July after telling the court that hundreds of thousands of files on the Swindon defendant’s computer had not been examined by police expert.

He questioned why the police had only categorised around 1,000 images.

“At the moment I am disinclined to sentence Mr Soar today because I have no idea where this 1,000 threshold comes from but it is ludicrous in my view if it is worked on the basis of an arbitrary approach if someone looked on the USB stick,” he told prosecutor Charles Digby.

Judge Crabtree added: “It gives the court absolutely no idea what the real gravity of the offending is. I don’t want to waste police time, I well understand that, but one would have thought that in fairness to Mr Soar he said candidly those are the two devices – the laptop and the computer tower – where you will find the more serious items. I would have thought as a matter of common sense someone would have needed to look a bit more thoroughly.”

And he said he did not know what the other images on Soar’s computer showed.

The judge told Mr Digby: “I think I’m going to send it back and say I need a little bit more information, at least there needs to be a discussion between the prosecution and defence counsel as to what would be an acceptable basis for sentence.”

Soar, of Lincoln Street, Swindon, was bailed to return to the crown court for sentence on July 2.
