Aberdeen sex offender told woman: ‘I like being a paedo’

An Aberdeen paedophile who repeatedly sent obscene messages to a woman on Facebook and Instagram has been told to do 125 hours of unpaid work.

Brian Hay, 34, contacted the woman using Facebook Messenger on September 16 – but the messages were unwanted.

And the woman realised it was the same man who had contacted her on Instagram requesting nude images.

In one of the sexually graphic messages Hay sent, he told the woman: “I like being a paedo.”

When Hay began referring to himself as a paedophile, the woman ceased contact with him and police were contacted.

At a court hearing last December, Hay admitted repeatedly sending the woman messages of a sexual nature for the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification or humiliating, distressing or alarming the woman.

Hay also admitted failing to inform the police of his social media aliases between July 5 2018 and November 12 2018.

At a sentencing hearing at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday, Hay, whose address was given as Moir Crescent, Aberdeen, was told to abide by the terms of a six-month community payback order, which includes the unpaid work.

He has previous convictions for sex offences including possessing and creating indecent images of children.

Aberdeen man told woman: ‘I like being a paedo’

An Aberdeen sex offender sent a woman a string of obscene messages and told her “I like being a paedo”.

Brian Hay made the disturbing claim during a vile conversation with the woman over Facebook Messenger.

She confronted Hay after receiving a message on Instagram requesting nude images – which she suspected was from him.

Fiscal depute Anna Chisholm told Aberdeen Sheriff Court: “On September 16 the woman contacted the accused on Facebook Messenger.

“She suspected the accused had been using an Instagram account not obviously in his name that had been messaging her requesting nude pictures.

“The accused denied this via Facebook Messenger and they continued to speak to each other.”

However Hay then sent a number of sexually graphic messages which included telling the woman “I like being a paedo”.

When Hay began referring to himself as a paedophile the woman “immediately ceased contact with him” and police were contacted.

Hay, of Moir Crescent, Aberdeen, pled guilty to repeatedly sending the woman messages of a sexual nature without her consent.

The 34-year-old, who has previous convictions for sex offences including possessing and creating indecent images of children, also admitted failing to notify police of aliases used on social media.

Sheriff Philip Mann deferred sentence until next month for reports.

Aberdeen man who talked of desire to rape underage girl faces jail

An Aberdeen man who talked about wanting to rape an underage girl in an online forum is facing a jail sentence.

Brian Hay’s home on Moir Crescent was raided by the police in September last year after officers received intelligence that indecent images of youngsters had been shared on a Twitter account from that location.

Hay, who lives at home with his parents, admitted to the police that he was in possession of the images when they turned up at the house.

Officers also discovered he had been in a forum on the Kik app where he had shared images and messages with other users.

During an appearance at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday, a sheriff told him the messages were “some of the vilest content” he had ever seen.

Hay, 33, confessed to possession and creation of indecent images of children between March 2015 and September last year.

He also admitted to distributing indecent images of children between October 2016 and June 2017.

Fiscal depute Alan Townsend told the court the officers who raided Hay’s home had recovered an iPhone, tablet and desktop computer.

On the iPhone and Tablet were category A images – the most serious showing the rape or torture of children

They included horrific images of girls aged between five and 15 engaged in sexual activity with adults.

Mr Townsend said: “Police officers read through messages found on the Kik application used by Mr Hay.

“In them, the accused talked about how he would like to rape a nine-year-old.”

Representing Hay, defence agent Bob Anderson called for reports to be obtained ahead of a sentence.

He said his client had admitted there was a difficulty which needed to be addressed.

Sheriff Jack Brown asked Mr Anderson: “I have had the misfortune to read the Kik messages and they contain some of the vilest content I have ever seen. I wonder if there is any underlying psychological issue?”

He replied: “It may be thrown up by the report.”

Sheriff Brown warned Hay that a “significant custodial sentence” was something he was considering.

Hay will return to court next month.

Paedophile ex-Kent Police IT worker

A former Kent Police IT worker has been locked up for five years after carrying out perverted online chats with girls as young as 12.

Darren Scott, 50, set up an online videoing messaging account under the name of ‘boxers.andt.shirt’ to get in contact with children.

Under this false name Scott would strike up conversations and ask girls what they were wearing, before asking to see them on camera.

Officers carried out a warrant at his home address in Chestnut Lane in Kingsnorth on February 17 2016 where they seized several computers, iPads and phones.

They found several conversations with young girls, with Scott asking them to send him pictures and other conversations of a sexual nature.

Officers found a number of indecent images of girls.

Documents on how to completely erase an iPad or iPhone was also found on his works computer.

He was subsequently charged with three counts of attempting to cause or incite a child to engage in sexual activity, one count of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child, four counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and four counts of making indecent photographs of child.

During the trial at Maidstone Crown Court Scott, who was suspended from his job at Kent Police, denied the offences, but was found guilty yesterday

Sean Morgan – Carmarthen

Paedophile pretended to be 15-year-old boy

A 25-year-old man pretended to be a 15-year-old boy online to get a teenager to perform sexual acts for him, a court has heard.

Sean Morgan had also been searching social media and downloading pictures of teens, many in school uniform

Swansea Crown Court heard how police raided Morgan’s house in Carmarthen in February this year following information received from the National Crime Agency that somebody at his address was accessing indecent images.

Nicola Powell, prosecuting, said officers seized his laptop computers and mobile phone, and on the devices found more than 2,000 indecent images and videos.

Morgan was released on bail, and investigators then began to delve deeper into his iPhone – on the phone they found evidence of conversations with a teenager where he was posing as a 15-year-old boy called “Connor”.

During the “highly sexual” exchanges, which lasted for a number of months, he asked the boy to perform sex acts on himself and send him the videos, and he sent him pictures of his genitals.

The prosecutor said Dyfed-Powys Police used subscriber information to find the person he had been communicating with.

Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed it was a 15-year-old schoolboy from their patch.

The court heard many of the conversations between Morgan and the West Country boy had happened while the defendant was on bail for the indecent images matter.

Also on the phone were 31 albums – each with the name of a male – containing non-indecent images of teenage boys.

Miss Powell said these images – many of children in school uniforms – seemed to have been copied from social media without the knowledge of those in the pictures.

A victim impact statement from the boy in the West Country said he felt “embarrassed and humiliated” after what the person he knew as Connor had persuaded him to do, adding: “I have learned a real lesson in trusting people.”

Morgan, of Blue Street, Carmarthen, pleaded guilty to two counts of inciting a child aged between 13 and 15 to engage in sexual activity when he appeared in the dock for sentencing.

He had previously pleaded to causing or inciting child to engage in sexual activity, causing a child to watch a sexual act, engaging in sexual communications with a child, and four counts of making indecent images at magistrates court.

Judge Peter Heywood told Morgan that the images he had collected were not just photographs but real boys being exploited for financial gain because people like him provided a ready market for such material.

He told the defendant he clearly had an “unhealthy interest” in young teenage boys, and there had been elements of grooming in his conversations with the 15-year-old.

For each of the inciting charges on the indictment Morgan was sentenced to two years in prison, for the inciting charges from magistrates court to 16 months, for the causing a child to watch a sexual act to 12 months, for the engaging in sexual communication charge 12 months, and for each of the four indecent images charges to six months – all the sentences will run concurrently with one another, making a total sentence of two years.

Morgan will serve half that period in custody before being released on licence.

He will also be on the sex offenders register for 10 years, and was made the subject of a 10-year sexual harm prevention order to control his access to the internet.

Richard Douglas – Leamington

Pervert who tried to lure 13-year-old for sex got a shock

A PERVERT from Leamington who tried to persuade a 13-year-old girl he had met over the internet to take part in sex acts had a shock when the ‘girl’ turned out to be an undercover police officer.

Despite that, in the face of the clear evidence against him, Richard Douglas denied attempting to cause or incite a child to engage in sexual activity.

A judge at Warwick Crown Court heard that even after his conviction following a trial earlier this month, a pre-sentence report showed the 49-year-old still believed he had done nothing wrong.

And explaining why he was not passing a suspended prison sentence, Deputy Judge Richard Griffith-Jones said ‘ingrained perversity may require longer than two years’ treatment.’

Douglas, of Eden Court, Mason Avenue, was given a three-year community order – with conditions of taking part in a sex offenders’ programme and a rehabilitation activity.

The jury had heard between the end of September and mid-October last year Douglas had been involved in exchanging on-line messages with someone he believed to be a 13-year-old girl.

He groomed her in a ‘despicable and chilling’ manner as he sought to manipulate her into taking part in sexual activity including intercourse.

But he was never going to succeed, because the person on the other end of the chat was a member of a police team who moved in and arrested him.

Richard Davenport, defending, said although Douglas’s employment as a night manager meant he did not have contact with children at work, he could lose his job as a result of the conviction.

Judge Griffith-Jones told Douglas: “You may find it difficult to face up to the enormity of what you did.

“You are an intelligent man. You have led a life which has meant you have been employed, but also a life in which I sense a degree of social isolation.

“You will have to face up to the reality of what you did, otherwise there is a real risk you will sink back into the same pit and do it again.

“In one sense you were a lucky man, because it is reasonably possible this was your first venture into this sort of perverse engagement.”

“Because the ideas you have may be ingrained, I am going to impose a community order, the purpose of which is to reduce the risk that you will ever do something like this again.”

Pervert caught urging man to abuse young girl insists messages were ‘pure fantasy’

A pervert who encouraged a man to abuse a child has been spared jail.

Shamed Shaun Wilkes, 53, looked distraught in the dock at Portsmouth Crown Court as his sordid crime was outlined to a judge.

Prosecutor Barry McElduff said police raided Wilkes’ home in Little Hackets, Leigh Park, on suspicion that child abuse images would be found on devices.

Officers did not find any indecent images but his phone contained twisted messages between Wilkes and another user.

Sickening chat logs, recorded on the chat app Kik, revealed Wilkes ‘describing in considerable detail’ himself abusing a young girl. A lawyer for Wilkes said the conversations were ‘pure fantasy,’ the court heard.

Sickening chat logs, recorded on the chat app Kik, revealed Wilkes ‘describing in considerable detail’ himself abusing a young girl. A lawyer for Wilkes said the conversations were ‘pure fantasy,’ the court heard.

No evidence was ever found that this had taken place, the court heard. Yet in one out of the 2016 stomach-turning logs, Wilkes advised how the man could ‘abuse his own niece and in circumstances that could at first start off as innocent playing but move on to something altogether more sinister,’ the prosecutor said.

When quizzed by police Wilkes, who has no previous convictions, denied having a sexual interest in children. But at court he admitted a single charge of encouraging or assisting in the commission of an offence.

The court heard police had no evidence the second man had gone on to abuse his own niece, or that any physical sex offence had taken place – but Wilkes had encouraged or assisted the sexual assault of a child under 13 and was causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity.

While he did not carry out those crimes, he faced the same penalties. Sentencing, judge David Melville QC said: ‘These are appalling things to say, they’re unimaginable even to think of; to state them to anybody else displays a degree of depravity on your part which is difficult for any decent people to comprehend.’

He added: ‘It’s best to keep such fantasies to yourself if you have to think of them.’

Judge Melville imposed a two-year jail term suspended for two years with 30 rehabilitation activity days, and 100 hours of unpaid work.

The judge ordered Wilkes’ phone must be destroyed. He was made subject to a sexual harm prevention order limiting his access to the internet. He must sign the sex offenders’ register.
