A man caught by paedophile hunters has been jailed for more than seven years

Ryan Hatton, 35, of Springfield Crescent in Madeley, Telford, was caught by the group after he thought he was speaking to a 12-year-old girl online.

He was arrested and an investigation was launched by Telford CID.

During the team’s investigation officers found he had also been communicating with a real 14-year-old girl who he had groomed.

At Shrewsbury Crown Court yesterday he was sentenced to seven years and three months in jail.

He will also be subject to an additional two years and nine months on licence.

Hatton had pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual activity with a child, arranging or facilitating commission of a child sex offence, and attempted causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity.

Predatory Shropshire paedophile, 80, locked up for 14 years

An 80-year-old paedophile who sexually abused three young girls has been handed a 14-year jail sentence 

Edgar Collins, of St Andrew’s Close, Shifnal, preyed on two girls who were both under the age of 10 in the late 1990s.

He indecently assaulted both of them on multiple occasions between 1996 and 1999.

Years later, in 2017, he sexually assaulted another girl, who was also under 10

Collins’ crimes came to light recently and he was prosecuted for seven sexual offences against the girls.

He denied all the charges but was found guilty by a jury earlier this year.

One of his victims spoke of being “haunted” by her memories of the abuse he subjected her to, in statements read out at Shrewsbury Crown Court this week.

Prosecutor Mr Benjamin Lawrence referred to impact statements, which mentioned the effects Collins’ crimes had had on the victims.

One of those who was abused in the 1990s, now an adult, spoke of the difficulties she faced because of her experiences, including the effects on her relationships with men and her own children.

For four historic charges of indecent assault against one of the girls, the judge handed down sentences of nine years, four years, three years and three years – all to run concurrently, totalling nine years.

For the two historic offences against the second victim, he was sentenced to three years and 21 months – to concurrent with each other but consecutive to the other offences, equalling 12 years.

And for the 2017 offence of sexual assault, the sentence was two years to run consecutively, which meant he must serve 14 years in total.

Collins will also have to serve an additional year on licence after his sentence is complete.

Shropshitre paedo sentenced to 20 years

A paedophile from Shropshire has been sentenced to 20 years in jail for child sex offences.
David Boulton had been charged with 21 offences including:
– Rape of a child under 13,
– Sexual assault,
– Causing/inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity
– Making indecent images of kids

The 60 year old, from Langland Road in Oswestry, was given the lengthy prison sentence on Tuesday (November 17) at Shrewsbury Crown Court after he previously pleaded guilty.

Shrewsbury man sentenced for child rape

A man from Shrewsbury has been sentenced to more than seven years in prison for rape in Shrewsbury.
John Patrick, aged 39, of no fixed address, was sentenced today (Tuesday 27 October) at Shrewsbury Crown Court, to seven years and three months in prison for raping a 13-year-old girl.

Patrick plead guilty on Friday 16 October at Shrewsbury Crown Court, to the rape which happened in Frankwell in Shrewsbury on 13 April 2020.

He was also sentenced to two offences of possession of Class B drugs and was given a 20 year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Police officer sentenced for sexually assaulting two young girls on train home from rugby match – Cardiff

A former West Mercia Police officer who sexually assaulted two young girls on board a train has been sentenced, following a British Transport Police (BTP) investigation.

Leighton Phillips, 34, and of Forest road, Market Drayton, 
Shropshire, was found guilty of two counts of sexual assault at Swansea Crown Court on 18 September.

Phillips was handed a two-year community order, ordered to attend 20 rehabilitation activity days, and was made subject to an electronically tagged curfew between 10pm and 7am for three months.

He will also be subject to notification on the sex offenders’ register for five years.

On 1 February at around 5pm, Phillips was travelling from Cardiff to Shrewsbury after the Wales V Italy Six Nations match.

A 14-year-old girl was standing in the aisle of the carriage near to where Phillips was sitting.

She noticed Phillips was staring at her, before he then went on to start stroking her thigh.

The court heard how Phillips then went on to touch the thigh a second victim, an 11-year-old girl, who pushed his hand away when she noticed.

Distressed and upset, the two girls moved down the aisle to get away from Phillips, however, he continued to stare at them.

Before the two girls alighted at Abergavenny station, a passenger challenged Phillips about the incident, to which he denied and replied, “I’m a police officer.”

The incident was reported to BTP and Phillips was met by officers at Shrewsbury station and arrested.
