Pervert had child abuse images on mobile and laptop

A pervert who used an anonymous web browser to search for child abuse images has given a suspended sentence.

Steven Atkinson had nine Category A images, the most serious offence, and one Category C image on his mobile phone and laptop after police raided his home in Guisborough last year.

Teesside Crown Court heard how the National Crime Agency tipped-off Cleveland Police about his online activities.

Vicki Lamballe, prosecuting, said the 40-year-old used a web browser which didn’t store the users search history and also had ‘eraser’ software installed on his digital equipment.

She told the court that a forensic search of Atkinson’s laptop and mobile phone recovered a total of ‘just ten images’.

Miss Lamballe added: “There was a visit to a website containing child abuse which was evident in a file on the defendant’s computer.”

Atkinson, of Meath Way, Guisborough, pleaded guilty to two charges of possession of indecent images of children.

Judge Howard Crowson sentenced the defendant to eight months in custody, suspended for 12 months.

He added: “Each time an image of a violated child is used it represents a further violation for the same child.

“The tragedy for those children is that as they grow up they know those images will never be wiped – they are there and people view them. It an abhorrence to people that they are ever viewed.”

Atkinson was put on the sex offenders’ register for ten years and issued with a sexual harm prevention order for the same period.

Man who catalogued images of babies being ‘brutally tortured’ is jailed

An already convicted paedophile who categorized and catalogued photos of babies and young children suffering “brutal torture” and rape has been jailed.

Ian Willmott-Fruish searched the internet for images of tiny children being sexually abused to fend off depression, York Crown Court heard.

It was his second conviction for having indecent images of children.

Paul Abrahams, prosecuting, said when police raided the 57-year-old’s home in May 2019, they found thousands of the illegal photos on his 37 computer devices.

“The Category A images are of brutal torture of young children and babies involving rape of them,” said the barrister.

“Clearly distress can be seen on these images.”

Willmott-Fruish, of Weeland Road, Beal, near Selby, pleaded guilty to three charges of having indecent images of children.

The judge took into account his mental condition as he jailed him for 16 months and made him subject to a sexual harm prevention order for 10 years.

Mr Abraham said police found 1,731 photos of Category A images, the worst category, 1,443 of Category B and 4,024 of the least serious category.

Willmott-Fruish was jailed in Bristol in 2005 for 18 months, plus two years’ licence and put on the sex offenders’ register for life, for an earlier offence of possessing indecent images.

‘Sex is fine and nothing to be afraid of’: Middlesbrough dad, 53, caught grooming 13-year-old ‘girl’

A Middlesbrough dad was snared by police while attempting to meet an underage girl.

Mark Feasey thought he was chatting online to a 13-year-old child during first coronavirus lockdown.

However the 53-year-old was actually communicating with an undercover police officer.

Teesside Crown Court heard how Feasey first messaged the fake profile in April last year.

Chris Baker, prosecuting, said the officer responded and he asked her to contact him What’s App.

He said: “She did so, making it clear she was 13 years old and she sent an image clearly of a girl around 13 years old.

“Between 9th April and 12th May they continued communicating on nine separate days.

“There are a number of days when it’s suggested that the two of them meet up.”

Mr Baker said that they agreed to meet at Albert Park in Middlesbrough on April 23 but it did not take place.

He said: “The decoy makes it clear in her message that she is a young girl living alone with her mother, her mother works long hours.

“During these messages he asked for pictures of the girl which are sent and he sends a picture of himself.

“He is keen to make sure she does not talk to anyone about him and asked her to delete the image of himself.

“The conversation became more sexual as they progress.”

Mr Baker said that by the time they agree to meet on April 23 there has been a conversation in which Feasey told the girl: “Sex is fine and nothing to be afraid of. When you meet a guy you like just be safe and sensible.”

He said that the decoy responded to the defendant by asking ‘should I bring a condom to the meeting?’

Feasey replied “your call, I don’t pressure you. If you feel the urge to kiss me then go with your urge, no pressure from me to do it”.

Mr Baker said Feasey went on to say he might get into trouble because of his age and it may be seen as grooming.

He said he told the ‘girl’ not to tell anyone as they could get into trouble for it if they meet.

Mr Baker said: “We went on to give advice about how to access pornography and asked her if she wants to access pornography with him.”

He told the court that Feasey was arrested on May 26 last year and said he was “remorseful”.

Mr Baker said he claimed he had cancelled the meeting on 23 April as he realised he was wrong and accepted he had messaged her after that date.

He said: “He said he was disgusted with himself.”

Feasey, of The Coppice, Coulby Newham, pleaded guilty to attempting to meet a child under 16 following grooming at a previous hearing.

The court in Middlesbrough heard how he was made subject to sex offender notifications after entering the guilty plea but had already breached the order twice.

Feasey did this by staying over at a woman’s home, where there were children present, on two occasions.

Mr Baker told the court how he claimed he had been given the notification requirement but hadn’t read them fully.

Judge Jonathan Carroll told Feasey: “There were nine separate days when communications took place within a relatively short period of time.

“The communications extended to you trying to meet her. The event, thank goodness, did not happen, you say you cancelled it because you realised what you were doing was wrong.

“If you realised, it didn’t stop you continuing to communicate. Some six further communications take place with her after you had not attended that meeting.”

Judge Carroll described Feasey’s response to the question about the condom as “deeply manipulative”.

He said: “That is not a decision that a child should ever be expected to make or should make.”

The judge told Feasey that he did not accept that he was unaware he was breaching the sex offender notification requirement.

He said: “I simply do not accept you did not know, that is nonsense.”

Judge Carroll told the court that he will suspend Feasey’s prison sentence so he can undergo treatment.

He sentenced him to two years in prison suspended for two years.

Feasey ordered complete a sex offender treatment programme, 30 rehabilitation activity requirement days and 200 hours unpaid work.

He was given a three month curfew and must abide by sexual harm prevention order for 10 years as well as sex offender notification requirements.

Predator who wanted to be called ‘daddy’ snared by paedophile hunters after sexual messages

A paedophile who sent explicit messages and wanted to be called “daddy” by two ‘schoolgirls’, was snared by paedo hunters.

Jordan Holroyd believed he was engaging in sexual conversations with 13-year-old ‘Ruby’ and 14-year-old ‘Chanel’ on social media chat platform SayHi before being snared by vigilante groups

The 27-year-old from Stockton previously used the same pattern of messaging them, then asking for a telephone number and contacting them on WhatsApp before the messages turned sexual, Teesside Crown Court heard.

Holroyd, who has learning difficulties, autism and ADHD, appeared in court on Friday for sentencing.

Nigel Soppitt, mitigating, told court how his client Holroyd now has secured accommodation after becoming “effectively homeless” before his previous hearing.

Holroyd previously pleaded guilty to three child sex offences, including attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity and two counts of attempting to sexually communicate with a child.

The Middlesbrough court previously heard details of the crimes and how he asked both youngsters to call him “daddy” in a number of explicit messages.

Jenny Hague, prosecuting, outlined two decoy internet accounts created by two paedophile hunting groups, namely Cobra UK and Predator Exposure

The first profile was of 13-year-old girl ‘Ruby’, alongside a “picture of a 13-year-old child”, which was set up on SayHi platform in 2018.

Holroyd contacted ‘Ruby’ on May 2, 2019, stating he was called “Jordy” and 25-years-old.

Ms Hague said there was “no sexual conversation” on the app but Holroyd later asked for a telephone number and continued the conversation on WhatsApp.

Holroyd shared sexual messages with the girl which amounted to 95 pages in length, the court heard.

The conversation began on May 2, 2019, with ‘Ruby’ reminding the defendant she was 13-years-old and began with talking about hobbies but it soon turned “sexual”.

The prosecutor told how Holroyd asked what she was wearing, about her underwear, “roleplay” and she should “call him daddy”.

The sexual messages continued and Holroyd showed “paranoid and erratic behaviour”.

Holroyd was also snared by a second decoy profile and believed he was talking to 14-year-old ‘Chanel’ on SayHi.

He engaged in the same routine asking for a telephone number and contacting the schoolgirl on WhatsApp.

He contacted the girl on June 20, 2018, asking for a photograph, later referring to himself as “daddy”.

The organisations passed the information to Cleveland Police and Holroyd was arrested and interviewed under caution.

At first, he made no reply but after being shown the messages, he “accepted he sent them” and “wished he hadn’t sent them”.

Ms Hague told how Holroyd, previously of Kennedy Gardens, Billingham, had no previous convictions.

Judge Tim Stead imposed 16-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, warning: “Do anything wrong and you will be brought back here and you could be sent to prison.”

Holroyd, of Yarm Road, Stockton, was also made subject to a sexual harm prevention order for five years and notification requirements for 10 years.

Judge warns paedophile he faces jail after admitting vile charges

A Billingham man has admitted child sex offences, but must wait to learn if he’ll be sent to jail.

Jordan Holroyd appeared at Teesside Crown Court on Monday where he entered guilty pleas to three charges.

They are: attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity and two counts of attempting to sexually communicate with a child.

Nigel Soppitt, defending, said Holroyd, 27, indicated his guilt in the Magistrates’ Court, adding “there seems to be a number of mental health problems”.

He requested sentencing be adjourned for the preparation of a psychiatric report

Judge Stephen Ashurst said the court would benefit from the preparation of reports and set June 18 for sentence.

He told Holroyd, of Kennedy Gardens, Billingham: “Your case will be listed for sentence on Friday the 18th of June.

“You can have bail between now and then.”

The Judge added there were “no promises” over sentence and “nothing is ruled in or ruled out at the moment”.
