Jobless snapchat-using paedophile’s indecent images found in ‘recycling bin’
A paedophile was caught by police after he uploaded a sickening image to the internet.
Matthew Robbins was arrested after police became aware of his internet usage and then seized his mobile phone last summer.
Following checks of the 20-year-old’s devices, a number of indecent and prohibited images were discovered.
Robbins appeared at Teesside Crown Court on Monday to be sentenced after pleading guilty to possession of indecent images and possessing prohibited images.
Victoria Lamballe, prosecuting, said on July 9, last year, police officers went to Heythrop Drive in Acklam, where Robbins was living, after a “Snapchat user had uploaded a category A image of a child to the internet”.
“Police took various devices including a Samsung mobile phone and a sim card”, she said.
Robbins gave no comment in police interview, but checks that were made of his phone revealed three category A images, one category B image and nine category C images.
“The majority of the images were in the recycling bin, but remained accessible to him”, Ms Lamballe said.
She added that one image depicted a child as young as six-years-old being abused.
Other “prohibited images” were also found.
The court heard that Robbins again gave a no comment interview for a second time and that there was “no evidence of distribution”.
Sentencing him, Judge Timothy Stead, said: “It is always disappointing to see anybody who has never been in trouble before standing in the dock of a Crown court.
Robbins was given a two year community order and must carry out 30 rehabilitation days.
He will be on the sex offender register for five years and be made subject of a five year sexual harm prevention order.

Paedos filmed and distributed indecent images of children
Two paedophiles are behind bars for their roles in filming and distributing indecent images of children.
Convicted pervert Jay Perren was found with a haul of more than 33,500 disturbing images and videos of “young children in pain and distress”.
But his former partner, Suzanne Kelly, has now been brought to justice for her despicable crimes in which she abused and filmed children then sent the images on to her then boyfriend.
Teesside Crown Court heard how the pair met in a pub where Perren worked as a DJ and Kelly was “unhappy in her marriage”.
Kelly had taken indecent pictures and videos of children and sent them to Perren “to please him”.
Her offending only came to light when Perren’s home was raided last year and the videos of her sexual abuse were discovered amongst his stash.
Perren appeared via video link from HMP Durham F-wing and Kelly stood in the dock as they learnt their fate.
Perren, 32, was sentenced after he admitted possession of a catalogue of indecent images of children- including category A, B and C – as well as extreme pornographic images and breaching a sexual harm prevention order.
He also admitted breaching the terms of his sexual harm prevention order by using a private web browser – Aloha – to block his location
Kelly, 40, pleaded guilty to charges of sexual activity with a child, voyeurism, and making and distributing indecent indecent images of children.
Police officers attended Perren’s home address on Hartington Road, in Stockton.
A number of incident images were retrieved from his mobile phone and he gave a list of emails and passwords linked to his offending.
Analysis of Perren’s devices concluded a total of more than 33,500 indecent images and videos.
The court heard how there were 3,417 category A images – the most serious under the law.
The court heard that vonvicted paedo Perren had first been sentenced for indecent images of children in 2008, then for distribution of indecent images in 2016 and failure to comply with SHPO requirements in 2019
