Derby Jehovah’s Witness viewed sick child abuse images ‘because it was an addiction’

A bus driver from Derby who was a practising Jehovah’s Witness has lost his job, his marriage and has been disowned by two of his children after being caught with indecent images of children.

Police found almost 300 sick child abuse images and more than 50 indecent movies of children when they analysed devices they seized from Gordon Morris.

Of those, 64 were the most serious category A and detectives also found one extreme pornographic image of a person and an animal engaged in sexual activity, Derby Crown Court was told.

Morris, 64, was arrested and admitted fully that he had downloaded and viewed the sick pictures and films telling officers his offending “was like an addiction”.

The images included both girls and boys aged as young as seven but he said he “did not get any sexual gratification” from viewing them.

Now, he has been handed a suspended prison term after pleading guilty to five counts of possessing the indecent images.

Sam Coe, prosecuting, said police received information that an email address inked to Morris had been involved in sending out an indecent image of a child.

They executed a warrant at his then home in St Giles Road, Normanton, in November last year and seized a mobile phone, a laptop and a number of SIM cards that belonged to him.

Mr Coe said: “In total they uncovered 35 category A images and 29 category A movies; 28 category B images and four movies and 234 category C images and 20 movies.

“There was also a prohibited image and an extreme pornographic image.

“In his interview, he admitted using software to hide his identity online and he described his behaviour as like an addiction.”

Morris, now of Grange Road, Alvaston, admitted possessing the images and was handed a 10-month prison term, suspended for 18 months.

He must also attend 30 different one-to-one sessions with the probation service to work on his offending.

Morris must also carry out 120 hours of unpaid work and he was handed a 10-year sexual harm prevention order.

Judge Jonathan Bennett said: “Real children are being abused and that market exists because people like you, no doubt for hours on your own, indulge their fantasies by downloading and viewing them.

“People will say ‘why hasn’t the judge sent him to prison?’ The reasons for that are you are 64, have no previous convictions, there is a prospect of rehabilitation and the probation service think they can work with you.

“You also pleaded not guilty at the earliest opportunity and made full admissions at the police station.”

Cross-dressing Jehovah’s Witness raped and molested girl 

A cross-dressing Jehovah’s Witness raped and molested a girl while making her wear adult women’s clothes.

David Fuge, 69, wore dresses and silky underwear when he repeatedly abused his blindfolded victim from the age of eight to 19.

Liverpool Crown Court heard he gagged her and on one occasion tied a belt around her neck and left her hanging from a hook in a room.

He photographed the child naked, made her read pornographic magazines, beat her with a piece of wood and abused her at a golf course.

Fuge, of Gorsey Lane, Wallasey, admitted having a fetish for cross-dressing and that his sex life with his wife suffered when she became ill.

The OAP confessed to some sexual touching with the victim and accepted hitting her on the bottom with a stick but denied the full allegations.

He was found guilty of rape, three sexual assaults now categorised as rape, two counts of indecency with a child and 12 counts of indecent assault.

The victim sobbed in court today as Judge Norman Wright jailed Fuge for 17 years with an extended year on licence.

The judge said: “You made her dress up in adult female clothing. You would blindfold her so in the early stages at least she did not see you were wearing women’s clothing.

“You posed her in provocative positions and then photographed her, all this for your own perverted sexual gratification.

“Your sexual fantasies led you to take her out blindfolded dressed in adult female clothing to a nearby golf course, where you worked or had been working, so your sexual frisson for what took place at the golf course would no doubt be heightened by the inherent risk of being discovered.”

He added: “All these perverted acts occurred beneath the surface of a man who had the public face of a God-fearing Jehovah’s Witness.”

The last of the historic sex offences saw Fuge rape the then adult, before telling her: “I wouldn’t touch you with a bargepole now.”

The pervert laughed at his victim when she confronted him years later, but she summoned the courage to go to police and he was arrested in 2016.

Andrew Ford, prosecuting, told the court Fuge was responsible for “deeply serious and violent sexual behaviour”, which left his victim filled with “nervous dread”.

He said it remained her “secret” throughout her childhood as she did not think she would be believed, felt ashamed and was afraid of it being found out.

Mr Ford said: “She says this is nothing to do with how long he goes to prison for.

“She said ‘I would just like him to take responsibility for what he did and say sorry. I hope he will come to realise what he did was wrong and has damaged me’.”

Fuge turned and waved to supporters in the public gallery when he was sent down.

Man faces deportation after molesting young boy

A man who molested a young boy he came into contact with through his church has been jailed and threatened with deportation.

Yesterday at Inverness Sheriff Court, 45-year-old Zbigniew Komorowski was sent to prison for 14 months by Sheriff David Sutherland, who also recommended he was returned to Poland.

Komorowski, of Polvanie View, Inverness, was told: “The only appropriate sentence is one of prison. You will also be placed on the sex offender’s register for five years and I will recommend that you be deported.”

Komorowski had pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting the boy.

He also admitted breaching a bail condition banning him from approaching unaccompanied children when he offered them drinks and biscuits outside his home while he was awaiting sentence.

Fiscal depute Ross Carvel had told the court that Komorowski became friendly with the parents of the child as they were members of the same church and were Jehovah’s Witnesses.

“They became concerned about the behaviour of Komorowski when their son’s behaviour changed. He had nightmares and on one occasion he took his mother’s hand and put it on his crotch area.

“There was a confrontation with Komorowski who spoke with a number of elders at the church. He admitted the offence. Then the father told the police after Komorowski was expelled.

“At the police interview, he said he knew what he had done was wrong but he did not know why he did it.” Mr Carvel added.

Jehovah’s Witness unmasked as ‘sly paedophile’

A senior Jehovah’s Witness has been unmasked as a “sly paedophile” who abused a 14-year-old girl in the back of a van.

Family man Daniel Arthington, who is an elder and preacher in the religious order, groomed and snared his “young prey”, a court was told.

The 46 year old was caught when a local builder had noticed a van parked on occasions on a remote lane near a rugby club.

Becoming suspicious he told a friend who was a police officer who arrived and could hear voices from the back of the van, “with noises consistent with sexual activity.”

Anna Pope, prosecuting, told Caernarfon Crown Court: “He waited for about 20 minutes during which he saw the van rocking from side to side, and the prosecution say this was the defendant involved in sexual activity with a child.”

“Arthington got back into the front of the van, appearing short of breath, and the policeman asked the passenger to get out.

The court heard Arthington said to the girl: “Tell him you’re 19, I’ve already told him.”

When asked for her date of birth the girl admitted she was 14 and on his way to the police station Arthington declared: “I’m dead.”

Miss Pope said there was a mattress and sheet in the back of the van.

In an impact statement the girl said she now felt sad and depressed, had lost weight and couldn’t sleep.

Her family was now considering whether to move.

Arthington, of Llanddaniel, Anglesey, pleaded guilty to having sexual activity with a girl of 14.

Jailing him for two years and eight months, Judge Rees told him that he been greedy and lustful.

He told him: “You made a sly attempt to prevent the police from seeing her and tried to hoodwink them that she was 19.

“I’m satisfied there was an element of grooming involved in your successful attempt in snaring your young prey.

“Your fall from grace is substantial but you have nobody to blame but yourself.”

A Sexual Harm Prevention Order was imposed whose terms ban any contact with the girl and he must register indefinitely as a sexual offender.

Paedophile raped girl in Derbyshire – when she was just SIX

A “disturbed” paedophile raped a girl when she was just six years old.

As well as raping her, John Madin also sexually assaulted the girl on 10 occasions, Derby Crown Court heard.

Clive Stockwell, prosecuting, said the now 63-year-old first rubbed the victim’s chest and then progressed to sexually abusing her over her clothes and then under her clothes before raping her in the mid-1980s in Derbyshire.

He said the victim kept the rape and abuse secret until she told her family and then her GP – but the authorities were not alerted.

The victim finally went to the police last year after confiding to her counsellor what had taken place more than 30 years ago.

Jailing Madin, now of Ferrier Bank, Warton, Preston, Lancashire, for 10 years, Judge Jonathan Bennett said: “There are some elements of what I have read about you that seriously disturb me.

“I have read your pre-sentence report and you do not seem to fully understand why you are here because you have apologised and made an out of court settlement.

“That shows a total lack of understanding of the effect of what you did has had on your victim. This was a vulnerable child, a little girl with difficulties and you took advantage of that.

“You even suggest that she was doing this deliberately and that she was sexually active. She was six. You have some very disturbed thinking and you pose a high risk.” 

Mr Stockwell said the offending took place in the mid-1980s.

He said: “He showed her affection which started with kissing and cuddling and then progressed to stroking her chest and then stroking her sexually over and under clothing. She told her family and her GP when she was around 16 but this was not pursued.

“The defendant had a sum of money that he used to bribe or compensate her for what he had done. But she continued to struggle to cope over the years and he was arrested after she disclosed what had happened to a counsellor.”

Madin was arrested and gave “no comment” answers to questions put to him.

He was charged and pleaded guilty to the rape of a child and 10 other counts of sexually abusing the girl.

Michelle Brown, defending Madin, said her client committed the offences “when he was a much younger man”.

She said: “There is little mitigation is such cases. He accepts he was looking for love and affection and appreciates he took it too far.

“It is right to say that the defendant became a Jehovah’s witness in 2011 and there is no suggestion there has been any other offending of this nature over the past 30 years.

“His strongest mitigation is that he pleaded guilty to what he did at the earliest opportunity.”

Derbyshire police were unable to supply a custody photograph of Madin.
