A 31-year-old man was locked up for 10 years yesterday for sexually abusing a young girl.

Jonathan Llewelyn Jones admitted five charges of sexually assaulting a girl under 13 over an 18-month period.

Jones, of Bryn Llewelyn, Llangoed near Beaumaris, also admitted three charges of taking indecent photos of her.

Jailing him, Judge Merfyn Hughes QC at Caernarfon Crown Court, said: “You sexually abused this young girl in the most dreadful way. The full extent of what you did will not be known for many years.”

Elen Owen, prosecuting, said the matters came to light last November after the girl’s mother became suspicious and confronted her. “She broke down and said Jones had said he would kill people if she told anyone,” said Ms Owen.

The court heard the girl made a videotaped interview in which she made allegations of sexual assaults over a period of 18 months between May 2006 and November last year.

Jones was arrested and two indecent images of a young girl were found on his mobile phone. “It is the Crown’s case these were of the girl,” said Ms Owen. She added a digital camera revealed a movie clip, 41 seconds long of the defendant and the girl.

Judge Hughes added that there were several aggravating features in the case which increased the starting point for custody.

“There were repeated offences and a degree of planning. Threats were made if she told anyone about what you were doing,” he said.

Jones’ name will be placed on the sex offenders’ register and he will be banned from working with children indefinitely.

Anglesey paedophile conducted decade long ‘campaign of sexual abuse’ on three young children

A paedophile who conducted a “campaign of sexual abuse” against three young children was today jailed for nine years.

Keith Davies, 63, from Anglesey abused his victims over a 10-year period, beginning in the 1970s

Davies, of Glan Cefni, Llangefni, had denied the offences but was found guilty by a jury after a trial at Caernarfon Crown Court last month.

He aappeared at Mold Crown Court via videolink from custody for sentence this morning.

Details of the offences were not outlined during the hearing.

Judge Niclas Parry told Davies: “You’re to be sentenced having been convicted after a trial of what can only be described as a campaign of the sexual abuse of three children over a period of some 10 years.

“You would take advantage of situations to isolate your victims and you would repeatedly sexually abuse them.

The judge said the harm to Davies’ victims could not be underestimated.

He noted one of the victims is “unable to put the matter out of her mind for even one day”.

Another had a breakdown and received mental health support, while a third received counselling.

“I can give you no credit. You had a trial and your victims were forced to relive their ordeals in public,” the judge added.

When the abuse started, Davies was not a “naive teenager”  but was “sexually aware and purchasing and accessing adult pornography”, the judge added.

“You clearly knew what you were doing was very, very wrong. You would tell your victims not to tell anybody about what you were doing,” he added.

In addition to the jail term, Davies must not contact his victims by any means indefinitely and his details will remain on the sex offenders’ register for life.

Anglesey man who had sex with underage teenager jailed

A 36-year-old Anglesey villager accused of grooming and having sex with an underage teenager on four occasions was jailed for five years and nine months today.

Gavin Campbell, of Brynsiencyn, was told by Judge Huw Rees at Caernarfon crown court :”You took advantage of her in a devious, persistent and pernicious way, deploying guile and deceit in equal manner.”

He admitted sexual activity with a child, possessing cannabis, common assault, a threat to cause criminal damage and assaulting a policewoman who he’d insulted and spat at, according to the prosecution.

Campbell must register as a sex offender.
