Disgraced former A&E doctor jailed after he raped woman while acting ‘like a wild animal’

A former A&E doctor from Lincolnshire violently raped a woman who was so terrified during the ordeal that she started to pray.

Dr Joel Ajewole, 61, has been jailed for nine and half years after he admitted two counts of rape in March this year

Ajewole, who had worked at Pilgrim Hospital in Boston, was questioned after his victim sought help from firefighters who were working on a street in south Lincolnshire.

The woman, who cannot be named, later revealed to police that she had been raped by Ajewole.

In her statement, the victim described how Ajewole “acted like a wild animal” during the incident – squeezing her throat and threatening her with a pair of scissors.

Ajewole also threatened to kill the woman and himself as he did not want to go to prison.

During her ordeal, the woman was so frightened that she began to pray, Lincoln Crown Court was told.

The court heard Ajewole had not worked as a doctor for six years after losing his job in Boston after a complaint was made against him by a patient’s family.

Ajewole qualified as a doctor in Nigeria and had spent 30 years working as an A&E doctor after coming to the UK from the Seychelles.

Ajewole pleaded guilty to two charges of rape and one offence of assault by penetration.

Passing sentence Judge John Pini QC told Ajewole: “You are an educated man, a qualified doctor, but had stopped practising at the time of these incidents.”

But the judge reminded Ajewole how his victim had described him as “acting like a wild animal”.

Judge Pini said: “She says she was so frightened that she started to pray.

NHS East of England Ambulance Service paramedic jailed for sexual assault of patients

A former paramedic has been sentenced to 21 years after being found guilty of of raping two women — while on duty — and twice sexually assaulting a girl aged under 13.

Andrew Wheeler, 46, “abused the privilege and trust that wearing an NHS uniform brings”, prosecutors said.

Police believe his career choice was “influenced by the access… to potentially vulnerable” people.

At Peterborough Crown Court, Wheeler, of Warboys in Cambridgeshire, was convicted of six sexual offences.

At his trial, which ended last month, the jury found him guilty of the rape and sexual assault of two women, and two counts of sexual assault of a child under the age of 13, who was not a patient.

After Wheeler’s conviction, police said it was “feasible” there may be other victims who had yet to come forward.

At the time of the offences, Wheeler was working for the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EEAST), which serves six counties.

The trial heard Wheeler, of Mill Green, was on duty in a single-crew rapid response car when he was called to help a woman who was drunk and had collapsed at a friend’s house.

Wheeler sent away two other paramedics who arrived together in an ambulance, assuring them he had things under control.

He drove the woman to her own house where he raped and sexually assaulted her.

In a victim impact statement, the woman said: “I have no faith in the NHS and I’ve avoided seeing a paramedic and attending the hospital just because of what happened.”

She said she has flashbacks, adding: “I couldn’t handle dealing with life. I became a recluse.”

Wheeler also raped a second woman when she was not a patient, and sexually assaulted her in the back of his ambulance when she was a patient a year later.

In mitigation, Wheeler’s barrister Jennifer Dempster QC said he had no previous convictions and was someone who has done a “great deal of positive work in his life”.

Sentencing him, Judge Matthew Lowe said Wheeler had an “arrogance and a belief that he was untouchable and protected, as he saw it, by his paramedic’s uniform”.

He said Wheeler would never work as a paramedic or in a similar capacity again, adding he had shown “not a shred of remorse”.

“He’s demonstrated that he’s a manipulative sexual predator, willing to exploit for his own gratification the vulnerabilities of three separate [victims],” he said.

Wheeler was also made the subject of an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

He had been suspended by ambulance service in 2018 and dismissed in September 2019 when he was charged.

After his conviction, EEAST said it “took action to report, suspend and ultimately dismiss this individual when allegations came to light”.

Wheeler was cleared of seven other charges and prosecutors said they would not seek a retrial on five further charges which the jury could not reach verdicts on.

Paramedic guilty of rape on callouts

A former paramedic has been convicted of raping two women — while on duty — and twice sexually assaulting a girl aged under 13.

Andrew Wheeler was called out to help one of the victims when she was intoxicated at a friend’s house in September 2018.

After telling colleagues he had the situation under control, he took her to her home before attacking her.

Wheeler was arrested when the victim told a friend — and the other woman he had targeted while at work then came forward. He raped her in 2009 and sexually assaulted her in the back of an ambulance in April 2010.

Wheeler’s attacks on the young girl — not linked to his work — took place between December 2013 and May 2014.

The 46-year-old, from Warboys, Cambridgeshire, was remanded to be sentenced at Peterborough crown court next month.

Swales pleaded guilty at Cardiff Magistrates Court on 5 March 2020, and was sentenced at the Crown Court on 19 March 2020 where he received a
community order.

Swales was ordered to undertake a course of rehabilitation, to be
placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years, and to be made subject to a sexual harm prevention order for 10 years.

The images in his possession covered categories B & C

Pervert Derbyshire doctor jailed for downloading and sharing hundreds of child sexual abuse images

A pervert Derbyshire doctor has been jailed for downloading and distributing hundreds of indecent images of children

Dr Alexander Shaw appeared before Derby Crown Court on Tuesday, December 22, after previously pleading guilty to ten counts relating to downloading and distributing more than 500 indecent images of young people.

Shaw had also had sexual conversations with males who he believed to be 15 years of age

Prosecuting, Jonathan Dunne told the court that, of the images found on Shaw’s laptop and two mobile phones, 118 were Category A images, the most extreme kind, 174 were Category B and 255 were Category C.

He said that police had raided the home of Shaw’s partner, where the electronic items had been seized in July 2018. A further mobile phone was also seized but police forensic experts were unable to unlock it.

He said: “He was interviewed on two occasions and on the first he accepted using the internet to look at pornography but said he had not knowingly downloaded illegal images, and on the second occasion, when confronted with the evidence he responded no comment to all the questions.”

Mr Dunne told the court that Shaw, 28, of Lockton Avenue, Heanor, had shared videos on WhatsApp, but the Crown had not been able to establish how many people he had shared them with.

Sentencing Shaw to two-and-a-half years in prison, Recorder Mark Watson told him he had to balance his own rehabilitation with protecting the public.

“You were conversing in a sexual way with someone about child abuse and it hasn’t been possible to see how many more people received these images, but once they’ve been distributed once, they can be shared time and time again.

“You admitted that you found the images attractive and this is not a victimless crime.”

He also made a sexual harm prevention order which will prohibit Shaw from using any device which allows him access to the internet for an indefinite period.

A depraved pervert has admitted to sharing vile child sex abuse images with like-minded paedophiles.

Alexander Shaw also had animal porn and more than 500 more disgusting photos showing underage victims being sexually assaulted.

Now the 28-year-old, of Heanor, has less than a month to learn whether or not he will be sent to prison.

Appearing over a link into Derby Crown Court, Shaw, of Lockton Avenue, Heanor, admitted a total of 10 charges related to indecent images of children.

He pleaded guilty to making 118 of the most serious category A which typically show youngsters being sexually abused by adults.

Shaw admitted to making 174 category B, 255 category C and possessing 11 extreme pornographic images involving animals and humans engaged in sexual activity.

He pleaded guilty to possessing 22 prohibited images of children and to four counts of distributing indecent images of children.

The offences are dated between April 2016 and July 2018.

Judge Jonathan Bennett handed him bail until December 22 when Shaw must appear at the same court to be sentenced.

He told him: “You will get credit for your guilty plea but these are serious offences.

“The fact that I am extending your bail you should not take that as any indication of what your sentence will be.

“All options will be open when you are sentence next month.”

Hull Royal Infirmary doctor’s paedophile shame after ‘addiction’ to vile videos

This is the face of a Hull doctor who hoarded thousands of sickening child abuse images at his city centre home.

Ghai X Chong, 29, of Wright Street, Hull, was a trainee doctor on the Acute Medical Unit at Hull Royal Infirmary before his horrific crimes came to light.

Chong’s home was raided in November last year by police who seized a laptop and hard-drive.

An examination of the laptop found 30 indecent images of category A – the worst kind – six of category B and 86 of category C.

On the hard-drive in a folder labelled “pic” a huge number of indecent images and videos were also found.

There were seven images of category A, 116 of category B and 2,678 of category C found.

Chong had also kept 426 videos of cateogry A, 160 of category B and 296 of category C.

One disgusting video showed the rape of a child by an adult.

Charlotte Baines, prosecuting toldHull Crown Court on Tuesday that Chong was suspended as soon as he was arrested.

She said: “He had a meeting and during the course of that he made comments such as, ‘It’s all my fault. I’m addicted to porn and have been for years.

“I thought it was under control but the evidence is very incriminating.'”

Ms Baines told the court Chong came to the UK from Malaysia to study medicine.

The court heard Chong’s case would be referred to the Home Office who will decide whether he will be deported back to Malaysia after he has served his sentence.

Judge David Tremberg told the court Chong’s offending happened “against a background of low self esteem and self isolation.”

Sentencing him to six months imprisonment for three counts of making indecent images and one of possessing a prohibited image, the judge told Chong: “You spent many years qualifying as a doctor and you know that is a profession the public put their trust into for their welfare and the welfare of their families, parents and children.

“You became addicted to using pornography and child pornography. Your offending is a serious example of its type.”

Chong has also been made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order for seven years and must also sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for seven years.
