Foot-fetish pervert ‘stroked girl’s toes’

A pervert with a fetish for women’s feet began stroking and sniffing a stunned shop assistant’s toes after persuading her to try on a pair of high-heels, a court heard.

Alan Kirby had been skulking around a department store before heading to the shoe department to carry out his bizarre assault.

The unmarried 31-year-old pretended that he was looking for a pair of shoes for his girlfriend and asked the assistant to try on a pair of black sling-backs.

Kirby ogled the shoes before he suddenly dropped to his knees and began a more intimate examination, rubbing his fingers over her ankles and toes as he started to sniff at the leather.

Prosecutor Nick Adlington yesterday told York Crown Court: “Kirby stroked at her feet.

“He then revealed he hadn’t got a girlfriend and offered to buy the shoes for her.”

But the shocked assistant instantly fled, asking another member of staff to deal with Kirby, who had been drinking in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.

Judge Shaun Spencer told him that he had behaved in a “disgraceful way” towards the assistant.

The judge added: “It must be a distressing matter to any woman who has to put with this.

“And I can tell you if you do anything like this again, you will be in serious trouble.”

Kirby, who now lives in the Lake District, pleaded guilty to sexual assault and was handed a six month community order, within which time he must complete 60 hours of unpaid work.

He was also made the subject of a restraining order.

Kirby spoke only to confirm his name and to inform the judge he understood his sentence.

He left court refusing to make any comment.

Cumbrian pervert trapped by sting planned for sex with child

A west Cumbrian man drove from his home to the North East believing he was about to meet a 14-year-old girl he could have sex with.

But when he arrived at the rendezvous point in a Gateshead supermarket car park, Ian Kerr Mason, 49, was confronted not by the ‘child’ he believed he had ‘befriended’ online but by a volunteer paedophile hunter, Carlisle Crown Court heard.

Mason, formerly living at Cleator Moor but recently living at an address in Carlisle, pleaded guilty to five offences which were attempts to lure 14-year-old girls in sexual activity.

Martine Snowden, prosecuting, outlined how the defendant, living at Princes Street, Cleator Moor, when he committed the offences in 2019, was caught out thanks to two online paedophile hunting groups – one in Newcastle and one in Scotland.

The initial two offences – attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and attempting to meet a child following grooming – were exposed after he was caught in Gateshead by the Online Child Safety Team, working with alongside the Scottish Wolf Pack group.

“He sent [the girl] pornographic videos,” said Ms Snowden.

When he asked the ‘girl’ about her body, and she said she thought she was more like a 10-year-old than a girl of 14, Mason told her: “I bet it’s beautiful.” It was to meet this girl that Mason travelled to Gateshead.

He had £100 cash with him – suggesting he was prepared to offer case in exchange for sexual favours, said Ms Snowden.

During his online conversations with the second ‘girl’, the decoy repeatedly said she was 14, said the prosecutor.

Mason – recently of Maryport Court, Carlisle – spoke to her about schoolwork and when she said she was a virgin he offered her money for explicit photos.

As he passed sentence, Judge Nicholas Barker noted that Mason – sincerely believing the people he was communicating with were 14-year-old girls – had travelled from his home in west Cumbria with the intention of having sex with a child.

“You were equipped for that and you planned for that exploitation,” said the judge, remarking on how the defendant when caught had with him in his car a sex toy and other sex equipment.

“You had an intention to perform…sexual activity,” said the judge. Of the decoys, the judge said: “They were purporting to be girls of that age to flush out paedophiles such as you, who predate on young females.”

Being told by one ‘girl’ that she looked younger than 14 only encouraged his deviancy,” said the judge.

He jailed Mason for 40 months.

Judge Barker imposed an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and put the defendant on the Sex Offender Register for life.

Man jailed at Carlisle Crown Court for sharing sick abuse images

A former Cockermouth man who was part of a ‘network’ of individuals sharing sickening child abuse images has been jailed.

A judge at Carlisle Crown Court told 30-year-old Shane Musgrave that the illegal images he stored on his smartphone – including a video of a three-year-old being abused – were “disgusting”.

The defendant admitted three counts of possessing indecent images of children, one of possessing an extreme pornographic image, and one allegation of distributing child abuse images.

The court heard how an investigation revealed the defendant had the images on his Samsung smartphone between September, 2017, and December of 2020.

Police who examined the device found 47 child abuse images deemed to be Category A, the most serious class of abuse image.

Prosecutor Anthony Parkinson said of some of the messages that police found on the defendant’s phone: “There are seven or eight conversations the defendant was involved in. They were with what can be described as ‘like-minded’ people…

“The defendant is the one taking the lead.”

Recorder Eric Lamb told Musgrave that the most serious of his offences was distributing those abuse images.

Noting the period of time over which the defendant had the ‘disgusting’  images on his phone, the Recorder told Musgrave: “I do conclude on the evidence before the court that you were part of a network who were involved in distribution.”

The judge said that the gravity of the offending meant that the sentence had to be one of immediate custody.

He jailed Musgrave for 20 months, put him on the Sex Offenders’ Register for a decade and made a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for the same period.

The defendant will be released from jail on licence after he has served half the 20 months.

Carlisle man, 70, admits child abuse image offences

A Carlisle pensioner has pleaded guilty to allegations of downloading  indecent child images.

At Carlisle Crown Court, Kenneth Edward McNabb, 70, of Ellesmere Way, Morton, entered guilty pleas to two allegations.

The first relating to him making, or downloading, an indecent child image which was classed as a Category B image – the second most serious of its kind.

He did this between November 30, 2019 and January 1 last year.

The defendant also admitted a like offence, committed during the same period, but involving a Category C indecent image of a child.

The pensioner – known also as Kenneth Hargadon and Haragadon – also admitted doing an act that was prohibited by a sexual harm prevention order.

This was deleting images from his laptop

The order related “historic sexual offences” . Sentencing in his case was adjourned until May 17 so background reports can be prepared.
