Scots sex predator, 40, raped girl, 12, after drugging her lemonade with street valium

A sex predator who drugged and raped a 12-year-old girl claimed she attacked him.

Alexander Keenan, 40, preyed on the child after giving her lemonade laced with street valium.

He then got a teenage boy to try and help him cover up the sick crime in May 2018.

This included Keenan setting up a “role play” by posing as a lawyer to get the child used to what questions he might face.

He denied the accusations during a trial at the High Court in Glasgow.

Keenan insisted he was the victim and had been left in a “personal hell” by what the girl said.

But, he was today convicted of raping the child at a house in Alloa, Clacks.

Keenan was remanded in custody pending sentencing next month.

The court heard how the pervert attacked the girl – then left to have a cup of tea and a cigarette.

But, he claimed to jurors how he had been asleep in the house when he awoke to find the girl molesting him.

Keenan went on: “I was worse than shocked. I was completely and utterly devastated.

“I was in my own personal hell.”

He said he only learned of the accusations against him via someone else.

Prosecutor Greg Farrell quizzed Keenan on the drug Etizolam later being found in his young victim’s system.

The rapist said he had “no idea” how that happened.

But, Mr Farrell went on: “You know exactly how – you put it in lemonade.”

Keenan: “That’s not true.”

The advocate depute: “So, it was she who sexually assaulted you?”

He replied: “I can only go on what I woke up to.”

Keenan also alleged a teenage boy had “volunteered” to support his claims.

But, jurors heard it was Keenan who tried to get the youngster to lie.

Mr Farrell put to Keenan: “You went as far as to rehearse what would be said by lawyers.

“You would role play this by pretending to be the lawyer asking him questions.

“Did he invent that?”

Keenan: “Yes, totally.”

Keenan, of Alloa, repeatedly shook his head following the guilty verdict.

Judge Alistair Watson told him: “You have been convicted of the rape of a 12 year-old girl – a vile and disgusting crime.

“It would be completely inappropriate meantime for you to remain at liberty.”

Keenan had his bail revoked as sentencing was deferred for reports.

Man sentenced for sexual abuse of two girls – Forth Valley

An 84-year-old man has been sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow today for serious sexual offences against two young girls over a number of years in the 1970s and early 1980s.

Robert Johnstone, from Tillicoultry, was sentenced to two years after being convicted on Wednesday, 12 February, 2020. He was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years.

The offences were committed over a period of time between November 1972 and November 1981 at two addresses in Alloa.

One girl was aged between seven and 15 when she was subjected to the serious sexual assaults. The other girl was aged seven to 12.

Judge Lady Rae told Johnstone: “These were terrible abuses towards two young children. I appreciate you are now 84 and have very significant mobility problems as well as health issues, however the effect on children, who have been abused, is lifelong and I don’t detect any remorse from you.

“In fact you sat in the witness box and said each of your victims were liars.”

Alloa beast who abused girls as young as 4 took victims to watch prostitutes on streets

A child rapist who took schoolgirls to watch prostitutes working the streets was jailed for eight years today.

James Adam, 80, preyed on three girls during a catalogue of sexual offending committed between 1975 and 2001.

Lord Pentland said he had engaged in manipulative and grooming behaviour to take advantage of victims for his own gratification.

The judge said: “Regrettably, you have evinced no remorse or empathy for you victims and appear to have no insight into the harm your abuse has caused.

“You must have thought you had succeeded in escaping justice for what you did.”

Adam, who was brought into court in a wheelchair, had earlier denied a catalogue of offences committed against the girls over a 26-year period.

But he was found guilty of five offences of indecency, a rape and an indecent assault following a trial at the High Court in Edinburgh.

The court heard Adam took two girls to watch streetwalkers plying their trade and later raped one at a house in Alloa, in Clackmannanshire, when she was aged 15.

He exposed himself to the second girl when she was aged 12.

Another victim was targeted from the age of four and repeatedly molested at addresses across Clackmannanshire, and Lanarkshire.

Adam began his sex offending in 1975 after grooming a vulnerable girl from the age of 10 with car trips and cash.

The victim, now aged 53, said that Adam would take her to an area of Glasgow during outings and showered her with attention.

She said: “There was lots of women walking up and down. I now know it was a place for prostitutes.”

“It all started when I was 10.”

The woman said Adam would laugh at her and touch her and make comments about her body and get her to perform “sexual favours”.

She said that on a few occasions she went to a former home of Adam in Alloa and told the court: “It was there when I was 15, that’s when he had sex with me.”

She told advocate depute Dorothy Bain QC that he worked for the railway and she would visit the signal box where he was employed

Furious mum blasts justice system after daughter’s sex attacker has tag removed for Spanish holiday

A furious mum has blasted the justice system after her daughter’s sex attacker was allowed to have his tag removed to go on holiday to Spain.

John O’Sullivan, 67, was found guilty of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old following a trial in July last year.

In August, he was handed a restriction of liberty order – which requires a person to remain within their home at times specified by the court – for nine months and was monitored by an electronic tag.

Last month, O’Sullivan submitted an application to Alloa Sheriff Court to have his restriction of liberty order lifted for 14 days – allowing him to remove his tag and fly to Tenerife.

The request was granted by visiting Sheriff James MacDonald and it is understood that O’Sullivan and his wife Elizabeth, 57, returned from their trip last week.

Last night, the victim’s mum explained the torment her daughter continues to go through.

The mum, who cannot be identified to preserve her daughter’s anonymity, said: “This should never have been allowed. It is totally wrong.

“My daughter has really been affected by what happened to her.

“She won’t go out the house by herself.

“She has to walk about with her personal alarm to make her feel safer.

“She is constantly on edge and she is scared she bumps in to him again.”

O’Sullivan, from Alva, Clackmannanshire, had targeted the teen between June and August last year by placing his hand on her thigh and repeatedly rubbing it up and down.

He also caused fear or alarm by making a sexually explicit comment to her last September.

As well as being tagged, O’Sullivan was sentenced to complete a 18-month-community payback order and added to the sex offenders’ register for five years.

The victim’s mum added: “He was given this restriction order as a punishment.

“To then learn he just had it lifted so he could go to the sun on holiday for two weeks makes a mockery of the justice system. He walks about with his head held high, bragging down the pub about how he got his tag off while my daughter is not the same. It’s ridiculous.”

The family received support from politicians last night after hitting out at the tag removal.

Scottish Conservative shadow justice secretary Liam Kerr said: “As if the sentence handed down wasn’t lenient enough, this ridiculous decision will cause even more misery for the victim and their family.

“It’s no wonder criminals laugh at our justice system while things like this happen.

“We should be getting tougher on sex offenders, not granting them sunshine breaks from their tagging orders.”
