Paedophile Aylesbury football coach faces jail

A paedophile football coach who kept nearly 500 sexual images of children and admitted he was “sexually attracted to girls as young as eight years old” has been warned he faces jail.

Appearing at Aylesbury Crown Court Marc Kenny, aged 45, of Misbourne Close in Aylesbury, pleaded guilty to three counts of making an indecent image of a child and one count of distributing an indecent image of a child.

Kenny, who was the welfare officer and director of football at youth football club Aylesbury Town Corinthians FC, was due to be sentenced today, but after hearing the cases of both the prosecution and the defence, judge Francis Sheridan opted to delay until next week while he considers the sentence.

Before adjourning the hearing, Judge Sheridan warned Kenny that he should expect to be locked up at next week’s hearing.

The judge said: “There will be a custodial sentence, it will be immediate.

“I regard this as a deeply, deeply serious case.”

The court heard from prosecutor, Nigel Ogborne, how Kenny had a collection of nearly 500 child sex images and videos and would fantasise with other paedophiles about having sexual relations with young girls on messaging apps Kik and Wickr.

On October 29, 2020, officers searched Kenny’s home in Aylesbury, and when they found naked images of children on his phone, they arrested him.

After his arrest, Kenny admitted his crimes and told the officers he had been offending for the past nine months, before telling officers that he was “sexually attracted to girls as young as eight years old.”

The court heard graphic and upsetting details of some of the images and videos that Kenny had in his possession, including a 16-second video of a baby less than one-year-old being sexually abused.

Mr Ogborne explained that on October 26, Kenny shared an image of an 11-year-old girl being sexually abused on a Kik group chat that had 130 other members, along with a message that read “wow so sexy, and what a good girl she is.”

The court heard how the next day, Kenny shared the same image on another Kik group chat, which had 304 members.

Mr Ogborne said: “He admitted that he knew what he was doing was wrong, and he had undertaken child safeguarding training with the FA.

“He had a problem which he accepted he was unable to stop.

“He admitted he had been sent indecent images of a child and he had distributed them to others including a closed group where child abuse was discussed.”

After listening to the two lawyers, judge Francis Sheridan ruled out the possibility that Kenny would escape only with a suspended sentence.

Before passing the sentence next week, judge Sheridan asked the National Crime Agency to find out how many children were being abused in all of Kenny’s photos and videos.

He said: “These children are real children. Somebody abused them, this is not a victimless crime.

“How many children are we talking about? I have to know. The court has to have in mind the protection of the public.”

Setting a new sentencing date of Friday, July 16, Judge Sheridan remanded Kenny in custody and warned him to expect harsh punishment when he returns to court.

He said: “There will be a custodial sentence, it will be immediate.

“I regard this as a deeply, deeply serious case.”

Aylesbury man warned he faces jail over indecent images of children

An Aylesbury man has been told he faces a custodial sentence for offences relating to indecent images of children

Marc Kenny, aged 44, of Misbourne Close, Aylesbury, appeared before Aylesbury Crown Court earlier this week and admitted a number of charges relating to indecent images of children.

Granting him bail, Judge Francis Sheridan placed strict conditions on him.

The sentencing date was placed on the warned list for June 21, meaning the hearing could take place in the fortnight around that date.

Before reserving the case to himself, Judge Sheridan added: “I have to say the custodial threshold is crossed.”

Yasir Mohabbat – High Wycombe

Wycombe sex offender originally from Pakistan avoids jail

A sex offender who groped a 16-year-old girl and possessed a sexual image of a young child has avoided jail – and avoided telling his wife about his crimes.

Yasir Mohabbat, 33, of Booker Lane in High Wycombe was handed a 15-month sentence, suspended for two years, at Aylesbury Crown Court today (Friday) after a jury found him guilty of sexual assault.

He had also pleaded guilty to possessing an indecent image of a child and possessing images of extreme pornography with an animal.

The court heard how on October 4, 2017, Mohabbat sexually touched a 16-year-old girl in the back of his car without her consent, after attempting to get her to drink alcohol.

Sentencing, judge Anesta Weekes said: “It’s clear you were very keen for her to have alcohol, I don’t know if it was a deliberate plan but it was clear you thought alcohol would help her be more pliable, but she didn’t drink it.”

The court heard from the defence, John Kearney, that Mohabbat wanted to “form a relationship” with the girl.

Mr Kearney said: “It may be unattractive, but it is not uncommon and not illegal.”

The defence barrister also added that Mohabbat, who moved to the UK from Pakistan five years ago, had kept the offence a secret from his wife and family, despite it happening in 2017.

Mr Kearney said: “He has kept the fact of this offence from his wife because he fears the consequences.

“The consequence would be divorce and that would have repercussions for his family in Pakistan. He’s very concerned about that.”

In response, the judge said: “That is something that your client has to manage, and not something the court has to be overly concerned about.”

A jury found Mohabbat guilty of sexual assault, but he had also pleaded guilty to two further offences.

Mohabbat was found to have a sexual video of a primary school-aged boy, and was also in possession of 11 sexual images of a woman with a horse.

Police found that these images and video came into Mohabbat’s possession some time between April 2015 and October 2017.

Mr Kearney told the court that the video of the boy had been sent to Mohabbat by a friend in Pakistan, and that he had “viewed it and immediately deleted it.”

“There is no reason to suggest he was in any way interested in children or young boys,” he added.

On the other charge, Mr Kearney said: “It’s bestiality, and for him he said it’s a curiosity.”

Mohabbat got an additional four-month sentence for each of the two charges, suspended for two years, which he will serve at the same time as the 15-month sentence.

He was also given a two-year sexual harm prevention order and given a curfew for the next three months.

Simon Honour – Milton Keynes

April 2021

Parents of very young girl who was sexually assaulted praise Thames Valley Police for putting culprit behind bars

The mum and dad of a girl who suffered at the hands of a sex abuser have spoken out about the whole distressing experience.

The courageous couple have been recorded on a video, which disguises their identity and voices, to encourage others to report such crimes to the police.

Their young daughter was abused by 55-year-old Simon Honour, who subsequently pleaded guilty in court to 11 counts of assaulting a girl under 13 by touching.

He was arrested by Thames Valley Police and in February this year he was sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment and placed under a sexual harm prevention order and on the sex offenders’ register for life.

The offences happened over a period of time in the last five years.

David and Katie, whose names have also been changed to protect their daughter, wanted to share their experiences of the investigation and the cathartic effect it had on their daughter

They describe the chilling moment the daughter told them what Honour had done to her.

“Our daughter disclosed to us that someone was abusing her. Those weren’t the words she used but that was what we gleaned from it,” said David.

Katie said: “I just kept on thinking ‘It can’t….This does not happen to us.”

The couple first went to their daughter’s school and then to police, who arranged to discreetly record the child recounting what had happened.

“I was a difficult process but I’m really glad we did it,” said David. “It was very, very stressful but I’m glad we gave the police and the justice system the chance to do their job.”

Katie said the police investigation and legal process process helped their daughter, who, along with the parents, is now receiving counselling to help the recovery process.

“It was the right thing to do…By doing this we showed we believed her and the police believed her and that everyone was on her side.”

The couple have urged other parents who sadly find themselves in a similar situation not to hesitate to go to the police.

“It cannot necessarily be fixed but it can be sorted in the best way possible and very nasty people can be taken off the streets and dealt with,” said David.

The couple said their daughter had benefitted from the closure of seeing Honour sent to prison.

“It was quite cathartic for her,” said David.
