Changing room pervert filmed women in underwear at Aberdeen clothes shop

A pervert was caught filming women in the changing room of an Aberdeen clothing store.

Kraig Simpson, 32, was caught when a teenage girl spotted him repeatedly point his phone into the cubicle she was in.

When the female shouted, Simpson legged it but was soon caught by authorities.

Fiscal depute Christy Ward told Aberdeen Sheriff Court the incident happened at the River Island store in Union Square in July last year.

The court heard a 16-year-old female had attended the shop and gone to the fitting room to try on various clothes.

While getting changed she noticed a phone from the next cubicle pointing up into the one she was in.

Ms Ward said initially the girl “thought nothing of it” and assumed the phone had been dropped, but then spotted it again shortly afterwards.

The girl shouted and Simpson was seen to come out of the changing room the phone had come from.

She said: “He just videoed me.”

Simpson then left but was quickly tracked down by security staff at Union Square and then apprehended by police.

Officers seized a black Samsung mobile phone from Simpson, and the teenage girl was able to confirm it was the same phone she had seen placed under the cubicle.

Ms Ward said CCTV footage was also reviewed which showed Simpson entering the changing rooms.

Simpson, of Bryson Crescent, Buckie, pled guilty to recording the girl and other females by placing a mobile phone within a changing room occupied by them while they were in a state of undress.

Sentence had been deferred until yesterday for reports and for Simpson to be personally present, however the court-ordered reports were not ready.

Banffshire blacksmith jailed for 1990s child sex attacks

A north-east blacksmith who raped 14-year-old girl in the early 1990s has been jailed for 10 years.

Gordon Wall of Cornhill near Banff was also convicted of sexually assaulting a second girl and has now been registered as a sex offender for life.

The 57-year-old, who was living in Coventry at the time of the offences, admitted rape, attempted rape, indecent assault and indecency with a child.

Warwick Crown Court heard graphic details of how Wall groomed his victim before playing strip poker with her at his home.

Then in his late 20s, he also showed her a video called The Lover’s Guide.

Prosecutor Nicholas Cartwright told the court that after raping the teenager, Wall threatened to kill himself if she told anyone.

Shortly before Wall moved to Aberdeenshire with his wife he attacked another 14-year-old girl.

The offences came to light during a confrontation between Wall and his wife at their Cornhill steading in August.

She called the police after he got a knife and when officers arrived he confessed to having had “inappropriate relationships” with the two girls.

Jailing Wall, Judge Alan Parker told him: “The rape of a child, I am afraid, unhappily speaks for itself, as does an attempted rape of the same child, and one of the offences of indecency with a child is of a particularly repellent nature.

“It is all profoundly disturbing.

“But it is very important to emphasise that one of the very unusual features of this case is that when you were confronted with what you had done, you were candid about it and you pleaded guilty at the first opportunity in this court.”

STARS’ CHEF HAD SEX WITH SCHOOLGIRL, 14

AN AWARD winning chef who once worked at millionaire Peter de Savary’s Skibo Castle was yesterday fined £1000 and placed on the paedophile list after admitting having sex with a 14-year-old girl.

At Elgin Sheriff Court, Sheriff Noel McPartlin described the hefty fine as a deterrent to others.

The 1996 Highland Chef of Year Stewart Jarvie, 26, who has prepared meals for people like Prince Andrew, Billy Connolly, and Sam Torrance, admitted the |offence at an earlier hearing.

Sheriff Noel McPartlin told the accused: “The law is there to protect girls of that age. I have a duty to impose a deterrent sentence.

“You were in a position of authority which you manipulated to be alone with the girl.”

At an earlier hearing depute fiscal Sharon Ralph said that an arrangement was made for the girl to accompany Jarvie to his flat on February 4 for sex.

“They left the hotel at 10 pm and Jarvie drove her back to his flat in Buckie where they had full sexual intercourse.

“The girl later informed her guidance teacher. After consultation with other staff the guidance teacher informed the girl’s mother.”

The incident happened while Jarvie, whose address was given as Pringle Court, Buckie, was working at a hotel in Cullen, Banffshire. He has since been sacked and has now started a new job at Scotland’s Hotel in Pitlochry, Perthshire.

Outside the court yesterday a former colleague of Jarvie’s who did not want to be named, said: “This man is a beast and he will strike again.”

Jail for child abuser

A FORMER foster father living in King Edward has been jailed for 12 years for raping two girls and abusing other children. All the offences took place more than 10 years ago.

A High Court judge told Leslie Hanson: “You have been convicted of a horrifying catalogue of sexual crimes against five young females. All of your victims were under the age of 16 years at the time when the offences were committed.”

Hanson (65), Milltack, King Edward, formerly of Drummuir, near Keith, raped two victims when they were aged 11 and 15, and molested three other under-age children.

Lord Woolman told him at the High Court in Edinburgh last Wednesday: “It is plain that you embarked on a campaign of sexual offences.” The judge said he took into account that Hanson appeared before him with a clean record and that he was now an elderly man, and the offences occurred some time ago.

But Lord Woolman said: “It is my duty to mark the gravity of the offences and to emphasise the public abhorrence of this conduct.” He told the sex offender that he also had to reflect “the damage to the victims” who had given evidence at Hanson’s earlier trial.

Hanson committed his catalogue of sex crimes against child victims at addresses in the Keith and Drummuir areas between 1990 and 1998. He had earlier denied a string of charges, but a jury took less than two hours to convict him of two offences of rape and four of lewd and indecent behaviour.

Lord Woolman said that his sentence “must serve as a warning and deterrent to others, and it must protect the public”.

Defence counsel David Moggach said that Hanson maintained he was innocent of the charges. He said Hanson, now divorced, had worked as a printer in England before moving to the north of Scotland, where he and his wife became foster parents. Mr Moggach said the couple had cared for 30 to 40 children in that role.

He pointed out that several had come to court to give evidence for him, and spoke highly of him as a foster parent. The solicitor added that Hanson was now retired and did not keep good health.

He added: “He is quite a frail 65-year-old. He assures me there is no possibility of his re-offending whatsoever.”

Hanson supplied alcohol to one of his under-age victims and rubbed dog food on another girl during the abuse.

The rapist and child abuser has been placed on the sex offenders’ register.

A SEX beast who raped two girls was jailed yesterday for 10 years.

James Leslie, 51, from Macduff, Banffshire, was also put on the sex offenders register at the High Court in Inverness after he admitted a catalogue of offences.

Leslie began sexually abusing the girls in the 1980s when they were aged nine and 12.

He admitted seven charges, including two of raping the girls and four of lewd, indecent and libidinous behaviour.

Judge Lord Bonomy told the divorced father-of-four his reign of terror had done “untold damage” to his two victims.
