GALASHIELS MAN SENT DEROGATORY TEXTS TO EX IN HAWICK
A 30-year-old man has admitted to a pattern of domestic abuse towards his former partner, leading to a court hearing in Jedburgh.
Harry Bailey, of Hawthorn Road, Galashiels, pleaded guilty to a series of abusive behaviours spanning from March 1 to April 6.
His actions included frequent shouting and swearing at his partner, as well as making contact through text messages, phone calls, and social media platforms.
Bailey also issued threats and made insulting comments, and accused her of committing fraud and being responsible for the death of a family member.
In a previous incident, Bailey, aged 29 at the time, pleaded guilty to a breach of the peace involving his former partner at a house in Burnhead Road, Hawick, between December 20 and December 22.
During that incident, he repeatedly contacted her by text message, demanding money and uttering derogatory remarks.
He was subsequently banned from contacting her for 18 months at Jedburgh Sheriff Court, and was fined £200 with a £10 victim surcharge.
Following the recent admissions, the court postponed sentencing to allow for a criminal justice social work report and an evaluation of a restriction of liberty order.
The possibility of issuing a non-harassment order was also kept under review until the sentencing hearing.
The case highlights ongoing concerns about domestic abuse and the importance of court interventions to protect victims.
