Sports instructor sexually assaulted teenage girl

A sports instructor who sexually assaulted a teenage girl during a training session had “come within a whisker” of going to jail, a judge at Bradford Crown Court told him.

Adam Wisniewski, 36, touched the girl indecently four times on the same evening, leaving her tearful and upset, prosecutor Ian Howard said.

Wisniewski, formerly of Thornton Road, Thornton, Bradford, but now living out of the area, was convicted of a single “multiple incident” count of sexual assault after a trial.

He was remanded in custody by Recorder Taryn Turner to be sentenced yesterday.

Wisniewski’s barrister, Rebecca Young, said he was of previous good character and struggling to accept what he had done.

He had lost his job as a quality controller and was sofa surfing at the time of the trial.

“He has already been punished a great deal,” Miss Young said.

Recorder Turner sentenced Wisniewski to nine months imprisonment, suspended for 18 months, with 240 hours of unpaid work.

He must complete a rehabilitation activity requirement and sign on the sex offender register for ten years. A Sexual Harm Prevention Order was made, also for ten years.

“You’ve got within a whisker of a nine-month prison sentence today,” Recorder Turner said.
