Sick trio raped schoolgirl in playground, bedroom and on filthy mattresses

Three members of a vile gang have been jailed for grooming and raping a young schoolgirl.

The teenager was subjected to a reign of sexual abuse by Banaras Hussain, Mohammed Akram and Talish Mahmood Ahmed throughout the period of 1995 and 1998.

A court heard during a trial how the vulnerable girl was raped in a primary school playground and one of the men even climbed up a drainpipe and into her bedroom at her dad’s house and raped her.

The three defendants accepted knowing who the complainant was, but proceeded to deny all the charges on a seven-count indictment.

ThrougHout the trial, lead prosecutor Kate Barry informed the jury that the case concerned the sexual exploitation of a 13-year-old girl, who from a young age was targeted by older men who wanted to use her for their own vile sexual agenda.

Mrs Batty described the girl as vulnerable with low-self esteem.

She said older men struck up conversations with her in the street and she was groomed between them by being made to feel special, including by being given cigarettes, vodka, special brew lager and drugs.

Mrs Batty said: “By the time she was 13 years old, she was drinking every day and was intoxicated most of the time.

“More and more men came onto the scene and the group got bigger and bigger – such that she can’t even remember them all now.”

Mrs Batty said the teenager was treated as an “object”, adding: “Routine to her became the day in, day out events of being touched or groped or having sex on grubby mattresses on the floors of flats and houses that she found herself in.”

In a victim personal statement, read out during sentencing, the woman abused by the three men said she felt “lost, embarrassed, ashamed and broken” as she gave evidence at their trial.

She said she had hoped to carry the memories of the abuse to her grave but seeing the picture of Gul Riaz, another one of her abusers who is already behind bars, prompted her to fight for justice.

She went on to say she felt let down by West Yorkshire Police “in the worst possible way”.

The statement went on to say she had learnt to wear an invisible mask for her whole life and suffered from flashbacks.

She said now that the trial is over, she hopes to put the abuse back in a box until the day she dies.

Hussain was Married at the time he groomed the 13-year-old girl.

It is alleged that he abused her twice a week over a period of around a year or so, usually in the woods or in a primary school’s playground.

Mrs Batty said: “He took her to a house one day where again the alcohol and drugs were free flowing.

“In the bedroom of that house, she lost her virginity to him on a mattress without bedding, using a curtain as a blanket.”

She said Hussain left the girl heartbroken after introducing her to other men.

Hussain, 44, of Church Street, Paddock, was found guilty of two counts of rape and described as the “primary groomer”.

He was sentenced to 18 years in prison.

Akram, also known as Buckree, was in a relationship at the time he is accused of first abusing the complainant.

Jurors were told that he had been present on many occasions both on the playground and in flats or houses where the girl was taken, including when she lost her virginity.

He introduced her to amphetamine and thought he could grope her sexually when he wanted.

The prosecutor said Akram first raped the girl on an airbed in a flat when she was aged 15, high and drunk.

She said the defendant’s girlfriend was asleep next to them on the airbed when it happened.

“On a second occasion, when she was still 15, she was at her father’s house when he climbed up the drainpipe and into her bedroom.

“Again, she was intoxicated and again he abused her before leaving in the early hours of the morning so that her father didn’t become aware that he was in the house.”

Akram, 44, of Moorbottom Road, Thornton Lodge, denied two counts of rape and one count of indecent assault but was found guilty by the jury of all three.

He was sentenced to 13 years in prison.

The prosecutor said the girl was aged 15 when she was taken from a snooker centre to a flat, had her drink spiked, was taken in a car to a secluded location in the dark and was raped

She said: “Talish Ahmed was a passenger. She remembers him being in the back with her. He abused with her when she was in no fit state to consent; a state that they had deliberately put her in so that she could be raped.

“Once they were finished with her, she was dumped, thrown out of the taxi at the end of her street with her knickers and trousers round by her ankles.

“They couldn’t even be bothered to help her get dressed again.”

Mrs Batty described the incident as the “final straw” for the complainant, adding: “The offence he committed against her marked the end of her abuse.”

The incident was reported to police at the time so the prosecution has been able to say it happened on November 25, 1997.

The prosecutor said the complainant feels “let down” by the police, explaining: “She gave a statement to the police and was medically examined. Despite that, no action was ever taken.

“It’s not entirely clear why but what we do know is that things have come a long way since the late 1990s in terms of our understanding of sexual offending.”

Jurors were told that the complainant moved on with her life and intended to take the abuse to her grave until she saw a photo of one of her other abusers in a newspaper alongside an article about him being prosecuted for child sexual exploitation offences.

Ahmed, 41, of Rashcliffe Hill Road, Lockwood, was convicted of one count of rape.

He was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

“Entrenched” paedophile finally jailed after admitting THIRD offence

An “entrenched” paedophile that a judge claims has little hope of rehabilitation has finally been locked up after being caught out for a third time.

Richard Thomas Ely from South Kirkby was told by a judge at Leeds Crown Court that he had only admitted his guilt for a lesser sentence, having previously denied the charge of making indecent images of children, claiming he had found a memory stick in the street that contained the vile footage.

Prosecutor Daniel Penman said that Ely had two previous convictions for having indecent images in 2015 and 2017, and escaped with community orders and made subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) to limit his internet use.

As part of that order, police visited his home on Standish Crescent last year to monitor his electronic devices and he confessed to having a USB memory stick, which was found to contain three child abuse movies which were deemed to be Category A – the most serious.

The 45-year-old denied the charges and a trial date was set, before he changed his plea.

The judge, Recorder Darren Preston, responded by saying Ely had chances for help when he was previously convicted, and continued to make excuses.

He said: “He had help before and it has completely failed to have an impact on him.

“He keeps providing preposterous explanations and now expects the court to believe he is sincere.”

Jailing him for 14 months, he told Ely: “You are incapable or unwilling to accept help.

“You are plainly an entrenched paedophile who is in complete denial.

“Your admissions now are to secure a better sentence. You are not willing to accept you have a problem.

“There is no prospect for rehabilitation and the only option is immediate custody.”

He gave him another SHPO of indeterminate length and told him he must sign the sex offenders registers for the next 10 years.

Leeds fitness instructor groomed teen girl and had sex with her in family home and park

A paedophile fitness instructor who preyed on a vulnerable young girl before engaging her into sexual activity on multiple occasions has been jailed.

Twisted Anthony Beardsley offered his victim extra exercise classes away from the Leeds fitness centre at which he worked but used the opportunity to carry out his campaign of sexual grooming.

Leeds Crown Court heard the 44-year-old took his victim to a park multiple times where he carried out sex acts on her and had sex with her at his own home while his wife and children were out between January and September 2020.

Suspicions were raised when the girl’s dad read a series of texts on his daughter’s phone from Beardsley intimating that they were arranging to meet up.

When Beardsley was booked in at a police station he asked if he could just admit his offending there and then as he wanted to rebuild his life.

In a victim impact statement, the young girl said she had felt like “a toy” and was relieved when her father found out about the abuse.

Leeds Crown Court heard that in one text to the girl Beardsley wrote: “It was so good. Kissing you is so f***ing good. I want to make you happy.”

Her impact statement went on to say: “Learn to control yourself and keep it in your own pants. Telling me to hide stuff like this means you knew it was wrong. You took me to your own house and made me do unspeakable things.”

Judge Graham Reeds QC told Beardsley he found it hard to believe that it was the young girl who had attached herself to him and said it was “clear grooming behaviour” and that he could have prevented it.

Beardsley, of St John’s Road, Leeds, admitted 13 counts of sexual activity with a child and had suffered reactive depression as a result of the case brought against him.

He was sentenced to four years and six months in prison.

Andrew Delsol – Bradford

October 2019

Sadistic Bradford rapist Andrew Delsol jailed for life

A sadistic torturer has been jailed for life for raping two women as part of a savage and gruesome reign of terror spanning thirty years.

Andrew Delsol was described by the judge today as “charming and clever on one side and vicious and self-obsessed on the other.”

He must serve a minimum of nine years behind bars before he can even be considered for release by the Parole Board.

Delsol, 55, made a chilling threat to murder one of the survivors of his campaign of sickening violence after he was convicted of 11 offences by a jury at Bradford Crown Court yesterday.

They included four offences of rape, a Section 18 wounding, living on the earnings of prostitution, two offences of making a threat to kill, two offences of indecent assault and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

One of the women, who bravely gave her evidence without screens around the witness box, was in court when Delsol threatened: “I’ll murder that bitch,” as he was taken to the cells.

He is currently serving a 13-year extended sentence imposed in 2015 for terrorising a young mother he locked in an attic flat in Bradford.

During the two-week trial, the first woman told how she was beaten and raped by Delsol when she was a teenage sex worker in Bradford.

“He needs putting away for life. He’ll carry on hurting people. He was handsome and beautiful…but he was evil, is evil” – Delsol victim

The ‘Jekyll and Hyde’ abuser forced her to earn a £100 a day to leave in a drawer for him to collect.

He punched and kicked her, tried to drown her in the bath and indecently assaulted her with a carpet cleaner pole.

She came forward after seeing Delsol’s photograph in the Telegraph & Argus when he was jailed in 2015.

“I don’t like the thought that he’s still out there doing this to young girls,” she said.

She met Delsol when she was 17 or 18 and was with him for a few months. He was smartly dressed, with two cars, a TR7 and a BMW.

He soon became controlling and demanding, encouraging her to buy red and black outfits and to wear high heels to attract customers for sex.

When Delsol found out that she was seeing clients behind his back, he turned up with a massive tree branch and demanded that she go home.

He slapped her, winded her with a punch and kicked her in the head.

“I did think he was a bit of a schizophrenic, but I think it’s more ‘psychopath’ now,” she said.

Another time, he accused her of sleeping with someone else and made her get into a cold bath.

“He tried to drown me a few times. He was holding my head under the water,” she said.

He then made her stand against the bathroom wall and indecently assaulted her with the carpet cleaner pole before taking the bulb out of a light and trying to put her finger in it.

“Psychologically, I think he was just playing with my head really,” she said. “He was like a Jekyll and Hyde.”

Delsol battered the second woman round the head with a hairbrush and plunged a screwdriver into her leg. He poured petrol on her before flicking a lighter and threatening to kill her.

The woman told how she was smitten with Delsol. He was 6ft 4ins tall and physically beautiful, she said. But he took control of her, mentally and physically. His eyes would mist up and go red when he attacked her.

Delsol would assault her in the woods where no one could hear her screaming.

He held her under water in a lake, threatened her with an axe, picked her up by the hair and punched her to the side of the head.

“He just battered me black and blue every day,” she said. “He needs putting away for life. He’ll carry on hurting people.”

The woman described Delsol as “evil and Narcissistic.”

“He was handsome and beautiful…but he was evil, is evil,” she said.

In March 2015, Delsol was labelled a dangerous sadist and sentenced to eight years behind bars as part of a 13-year extended term of imprisonment.

He was found guilty at Bradford Crown Court of falsely imprisoning a woman in his attic flat in Gaythorne Road, West Bowling, Bradford, over a four-month period.

He was also convicted of two offences of common assault, by causing her to fear violence from him, and one of illegally possessing a martial arts knife.

She told the court she lived in terror of Delsol. He frothed at the mouth with rage and threatened to “bust her skull open.”

In 2009, Lancashire Police issued a rarely used Violent Offender Order to protect women from Delsol. “When he is released, he will pose a real and serious threat to the public, especially young females,” they said.

Delsol was jailed for eight years at Carlisle Crown Court in 2002 after telling his teenage girlfriend that he would dismember her.

He held her captive for six days, smashing her nose with his hand till the bone cracked, knifing her in the neck, kicking and punching her stomach, hurling her head-first into a wall and beating her with a length of wood.

In one terrifying episode, he brandished an axe, saying he would use it to dismember her.

In 1989, Delsol was jailed for 15 years at Sheffield Crown Court for brutal offences against a former Bradford woman. He burned her with a blowtorch, tried to make her drink bleach and forced her out of a window with a rope around her neck.

At the time, Delsol was awaiting trial for a sadistic attack on his first victim. He was jailed for two years nine months for a string of assaults on the 25-year-old Bradford woman over a five-year period, including fracturing her skull.

Speaking after the sentencing, the officer in the case Detective Constable Andrew Ellis, of Bradford District CID, said: “Delsol is clearly a very dangerous man and I hope the sentence he has received today will be of some comfort to his victims.

“I would like to thank them for their courage in testifying against someone who subjected them to sexual abuse and violence.

“I also hope it encourages other victims of historic sexual offences to contact their local Safeguarding Unit, whose specially trained officers will investigate every report and provide support for the victims so perpetrators like Delsol can be brought to justice.”

One of Delsol’s victims also issued a statement after sentencing was passed.

She said: “I would like to thank West Yorkshire Police for the support they have given me throughout this case, and the jury who believed in me.

“I am elated at this verdict which means I can move forward with my life, knowing the man who violently and sexually abused me and other women has been given a life sentence.”

Judge Burn commended DC Ellis and DC Antoinette Williams for their painstaking work on the case.

Joshua Moody – Wakefield

Wakefield thug who shook baby so violently he caused “catastrophic” injuries is finally jailed

A violent bully who persistently denied shaking a newborn baby boy so violently that he caused him “catastrophic” injuries has been jailed

Joshua Moody spent more than three years claiming he was not behind the violent assaults on the seven-week-old tot which left him with permanent brain damage and needing round-the-clock care, Leeds Crown Court was told.

The 25-year-old eventually admitted two counts of causing grievous bodily harm without intent, but Judge Penelope Belcher said he could have saved the youngster’s family years of heartbreak if only he “had the guts” to admit his crimes.

Moody’s case was heard on May 17, but a court order was put in place that prevented the full facts of the case being reported.

Prosecutor Craig Hassall had told the court that an ambulance had been called to an address in Wakefield late at night in the summer of 2017, after the the tot – who still cannot be named for legal reasons – became unresponsive.

He then stopped breathing and Moody and other adults in the property at the time were asked to perform CPR until the paramedics arrived.

It was found that he had suffered a cardiac arrest and was taken to Pinderfields then later transferred to the paediatric intensive care unit at LGI.

He was found to have multiple injuries including hemorrhaging in various parts of his body, including his spine, and behind both eyes.

He was also found to have six broken ribs, one of which was beginning to heal, suggesting it had been damaged during a previous assault. He also had a fractured shin bone.

Despite Moody’s initial denials, Mr Hassall said that medical experts had agreed that the only credible explanation was “life-threatening child abuse”, and that many of the injuries had been caused immediately prior to the baby’s cardiac arrest that night, consistent with being shaken violently.

It was not thought that he would survive, and his family were told to prepare for the worst.

But he began to improve over the weeks and was eventually able to breathe on his own, although he has been left with severe injuries.

His vision and hearing is impaired, he is unable to speak, is not mobile, suffers from epilepsy and has cerebral palsy, meaning he is likely to need 24/7 care for the rest of his life.

Moody, of Thornleigh Drive, Wakefield, was later charged with GBH with intent and was due to stand trial, but earlier this year admitted to GBH without intent, which was accepted by the Crown Prosecution Service.

The court was told that due to Moody’s persistent attempts to absolve himself from blame, the finger of suspicion fell on the baby’s mother, leading to her arrest, and the arrest of her own mother.

The baby’s mother, who also cannot be named for legal reasons, described it as a “nightmare journey” that lasted almost four years.

She said: “As a family we were all under suspicion. Josh maintained his innocence throughout.

“By maintaining his innocence, he was inferring I had to be responsible for what had happened.

“The fact is Josh could have prevented this by admitting his responsibility on any number of occasions. The actions of Josh are terrible and inexcusable.”

Judge Belcher jailed him for three years and nine months
