Man sentenced to 13 years in jail for historic charges of child sexual offences

Following an investigation by West Mercia Police, a man has been sentenced to 13 years in jail for historic charges of child sexual offences, that took place in Worcester.

Malcolm West, aged 59 of Friars Court, Weston Beggard, Hereford, was convicted and sentenced at Hereford Crown Court on Tuesday (30 October), having pleaded not guilty, following a four day trial, where he was found guilty by jury of:

  • Two counts of indecency with a child under 16 years old.

  • Two counts of indecent assault of a child 9-11 years old.

  • Two counts of indecent assault of a child under 14 years old.

  • Two counts of rape of a child under 16 years.

The offences on two female’s dated from 1982-1985.

He has also been registered as a sex offender for life.

West was originally interviewed in July 2017 whilst living in Hereford.
