Man jailed a year for sex assault on child

A pervert who sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl claimed he can’t feel any remorse for the attack – because he doesn’t remember it. 

Robert Salt (22), of Chadderton, was sentenced to 12 months in jail after a jury found him guilty of the assault. 

He will be added to the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years. 

The victim was staying at Salt’s house and slept in Salt’s bed with a young relative, while Salt slept on the floor. 

When he returned home, after consuming around 15 alcoholic drinks, he climbed into bed with the girl and began pulling down her pyjama trousers. 

He started touching her legs, put his hands on her and pushed himself on her. 

He left the room for a short while but continued in the same way on his return.

The girl told her mother and the police were contacted.
