Mum beat her own baby so hard with a tennis racket it left an imprint on his tiny back

A mother is facing jail after beating her baby son so hard with a toy tennis racquet that it left an imprint on his back.

Katie Neale, 34, flew into a rage with 14-month-old Harry, hitting him in the face at her home in north London, a court heard.

She admitted cruelty to a person under 16 at Blackfriars Crown Court today after her arrest following the cruel assault.

The court heard that on a day between June and October last year, the infant was assaulted, mistreated or neglected.

The child’s 54-year-old father, Nicholas Bass, has previously admitted ill-treating, neglecting or abandoning his son at an earlier hearing.

Neale, of London, and Bass, of Parkhurst Road, Holloway, have both been bailed for sentencing on December 1.
