Longsight man who groomed and had sex with girl,14, jailed

A man who groomed and had sex with a child has been jailed.

Mubashir Hussain, 45, of Armitage Avenue, Longsight pleading guilty to two counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child.

Today, Tuesday 11 April 2017, he was sentenced at Manchester Crown Court Crown Square to four years and three months in prison, a Sexual Harm, Prevention Order, and ordered to sign the sex offender register for life.

In late 2014, Hussain first came into contact with his 14-year-old victim after she called the takeaway that he worked at in Longsight, looking to speak to somebody else who worked there.

Hussain gave the girl his personal mobile number and over a period of a few weeks they began communicating over the phone, with the girl making it clear early on that she was only 14-years-old.

Despite knowing her age, Hussain arranged to meet up with the girl under the guise of a concerned ‘friend’, offering her support and counselling on various aspects of her life.

They met up a number of times to talk, with Hussain complimenting the girl and buying her chocolate, before the meetings began to develop into a sexual nature.

The meetings would take place in secluded areas or at empty properties.

In May 2015, a report was made to police and Hussain was arrested.
