Child rapist helped by wife to prey on underage girl
A child rapist was helped by his wife to prey on an underage girl via Facebook.
Scott Rose, 29, carried out a serious sexual assault on the 14-year-old at his home in Dundee in July 2014.
Rose then teamed up with his 23-year-old wife Michelle to target the same girl via Facebook the following year.
A jury heard how the girl was bombarded with messages of a “sexual nature”.
Rose had also groomed and abused a young boy for three years – starting when the child was nine.
The sex offender was jailed for ten years at the High Court in Glasgow on Monday.
He had earlier been convicted at a trial in Edinburgh of ten charges including rape, using lewd and libidinous behaviour and offences relating to child abuse images.
Lord Beckett told Rose he had been involved in crimes which were “grossly corrupt” and he had “used his size and build” to rape the girl.
The judge added: “They (his victims) were manipulated in order to fulfil your depraved intentions. You have no remorse for any of this.”
Michelle Rose, also of Dundee, was convicted at the same trial of acting with her husband to communicate indecently with the girl who was attacked.
Sentencing on her was adjourned again until next month. She remains on bail.
The court heard Rose continues to deny the offences and “has the support of his wife”.
Lord Beckett ordered Rose to be monitored for a further four years on his release. He was placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely.
