Convicted sexual predator caught by paedophile hunting teams

An already convicted paedophile has been jailed after he was caught by a paedophile hunting team

Brian Beagan, 48 who is originally from Kendal in Cumbria but recently moved to the Lancaster area appeared at York Crown Court where he admitted:

  • Two counts of inciting a child aged 13 into sexual activity

  • Breaching a sexual harm prevention order

The court was told that Beagan had previously received a suspended sentence in 2016 for making indecent images of kids of which some were classed as category A – most serious showing rape/torture of children – & one featured a 6-month-old baby

However, just two years into his sexual harm prevention order, Beagan contacted the online profile of who he believed belonged to a 13 year old girl

Beagan sent a number of highly sexualised messages with the full intent of engaging the child into sexual activity.

However, the child did not exist and was instead an adult member of paedophile hunting team ‘Protection For The Innocent’ and the decoy was Tommy Decoy who purported to be 13 years old

The team linked with up the UK database who carried out the sting on Beagan. The team confronted Beagan and asked him a series of questions about his online activity.

Beagan admitted that he was banned from all social media by a court order. He also openly admitted he had been speaking to who he believed were young girls online, and was sexually attracted to girls aged from 10 – 14 years old

During the investigation carried out by the UK database, the team also discovered that Beagan had been sharing live streams of two 10 year old twins who were clearly being sexually abused.

Beagan used a fake name in a bid to escape exposure, but his real name was traced by the UK database who uncovered his movements and his true identity

Beagan was arrested at the scene and taken into police custody

Beagan was handed a custodial prison sentence of 22 months

A fresh 10 year sexual harm prevention order was issued and he was told to register as a sex offender for a further ten years

Some of the images were classed as category A – the most serious showing rape or torture of children – and one featured a six-month-old baby

In 2016, Beagan’s own barrister described his criminal conduct as “disgraceful” and “reprehensible”

He has also been placed on the sexual offender register for ten years, received a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) for ten years and been issued with a two-year supervision order.
