Son reported pervert dad after discovering images of naked boys on his camera

PERVERT Leszek Sokolowski downloaded hundreds of indecent images of children for his own sexual gratification.

The 60-year-old was arrested after his son and his estranged partner saw some pictures of naked boys on a camera and recognised they were shots of a computer screen in the defendant’s bedroom.

His computer equipment, cameras and phones were analysed and child abuse images was found on numerous devices.

In total police recovered 21 images at category A – the most serious; 141 at category B and 321 at category C.

Now Sokolowski has been handed a community order at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.

Prosecutor Peter McCartney said: “The defendant’s son approached his estranged partner who was still living in the house. He was angry and showed her some pictures on a camera. She could see they were pictures of young boys naked. She recognised the room was the defendant’s bedroom.

“She took the camera to the police.”

Sokolowski, of Stoke Road, Shelton, pleaded guilty to 13 charges of possessing indecent photographs of a child.

Stuart Muldoon, mitigating, said the defendant has no previous convictions and the offences were two-years-old.

Mr Muldoon said: “These offences go back to August 2013 and when the police arrived at his house he did point them in the direction of the equipment which contained the images.

“There is no evidence or suggestion he has gone back to viewing such images.”

Judge Paul Glenn sentenced Sokolowski to a three year community order with supervision and a requirement to participate in the internet sex offender programme.

Judge Glenn said: “The images were found on a variety of devices.

“There was a very limited number of the most serious sort of material.

“Unusually you do admit to having an attraction to young males. You claim to be ashamed. You should be and you have lost your employment as a result of this.

“There is no evidence you progressed to contact offences. But the concern for the future risk you pose is understandable, not least because you abuse alcohol in the way you do.

“There is a sufficient prospect of rehabilitation. I will give you the opportunity the probation officer proposes.”

The judge warned the defendant that if he breaches the order he will send him to jail for between four and six months.

Sokolowski was placed on the sex offenders’ register for five years and he will be barred from a range of activities involving children and vulnerable adults.
