Brian Jones, 67, of Sycamore Green, Cannock, led a ‘campaign of rape’, which took place 25 years ago, Stafford Crown Court heard. The girl was subject to sexual assaults from the age of 11 and repeated rapes from the age of 12, the court was told. Rebecca Wade, prosecuting, told the court that such assaults would happen on “at least three occasions some weeks”. She said such abuse has had a “profound effect” on the victim’s life. The court also heard Jones had apparently bragged to a friend of his abuse against the victim. Sentencing Jones, Judge Paul Glenn told him: “You raped a child when she was 12 until she was 14, which must have been truly horrific for her.” Jones will serve half of his sentence in custody, and will be placed on licence for the remainder of his sentence.
