A CURIOSITY for ‘teen porn’ led to a Gloucestershire man downloading indecent images of children over a three-year period.

Daniel Farr, 25, formerly of Lancaster Drive, Lydney North, admitted possessing more than 750 images on computer devices on June 25 last year.

Prosecutor Graham Dono said police called at Mr Farr’s home with a search warrant after an internet investigation.

During the search, a number of electronic items capable of storing indecent images were seized and Farr admitted possession and was arrested.

He said: “During subsequent interviews he admitted downloading images for three to four years and it started off as a curiosity looking at teen porn.

“He has a sexual interest in girls aged 13 years of age.”

Farr, now of 12 Holly Oak Terrace, Pontnewynydd, Gwent, pleaded guilty to a total of six charges relating to possessing indecent photographs of a child.

Nik Cooper, defending, said no measures need to be included in a Sexual Offences Prohibition Order (SOPO) order to prevent him coming into contact with children. He said: “There must be an identifiable risk of a contact offence before this prohibition is justified, but he has not offended in this way.”

Farr has been sentenced to a SOPO for five years and must also complete a supervised three-year community order and an Internet Sexual Offending Treatment Programme (ISOTP), as well as pay £85 in costs and a victim surcharge of £60.

The chairman of the bench told Farr: “You pleaded guilty and are entitled to credit and I will take into account your frankness in discussing the matter with police and the probation service.”

She also told the court he has no similar previous convictions and that history on computers he can access must not be erased.

She said: “The police will be checking and that includes your phone, as well. And if you breach the order that is a separate offence.”
