Four men guilty of committing a string of sexual offences against a 14-year-old schoolgirl have been sentenced to 32 and a half years in jail between them.

Nazakat Mahmood, 28, of Batchelors Way, Chesham, Ghulfaraz Nawaz, 27, of Benham Close, Chesham, Omar Sharif, 26, of Honey Yard, Chesham, and Haroon Rauf, 30, of Drakes Close, Amersham, were convicted at Reading Crown Court on Tuesday, April 22 of 19 sexual offences dating between December 2011 and July 2012, when the victim was aged 14.

On Friday (June 27) they appeared at the same court for sentencing, with Judge Cutts, QC sentencing them to jail terms.

The judge said there was no doubt in her mind that Mahmood was the ‘ring leader’ as she sentenced him to a total of 14 years in jail reduced by six months to take into account his curfew.

He was sentenced to 13 and a half years in prison to run concurrently for seven counts of sexual activity with a child and two counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

Upon hearing his sentence he swore and kicked the wall.

Nawaz heard his sentence via video link, from HM Prison Woodhill, in Milton Keynes.

He was sentenced to six years in jail, with a reduction in his sentence to take into account his curfew, meaning his sentence is five and a half years for two counts of sexual activity with a child.

The judge said his six days on tag curfew had counted toward the sentence, which would run concurrently.

Rauf, who was wearing a black suit and white shirt, was sentenced to six years for two counts of sexual activity with a child reduced by six months to take into account his curfew. He was also sentenced to six months for one count of assault by beating, with the sentences to run consecutively meaning he will serve six years in jail.

Sharif was sentenced to four years for one count of sexual activity with a child, and to eight years for a further five counts of sexual activity with a child.

His sentences will run concurrently meaning he will serve eight years.

Sharif, who was wearing grey tracksuit bottoms and a dark blue jumper, had previously denied sexual activity and had called the girl a liar.

Since then he has accepted his guilt.

Judge Cutts, QC said: “These cases are so serious that the only sentence can be custodial justice.

“It goes without saying the impact of these offences on a child have been substantial.

“I have read her statement. She dropped out of school, missing out on care free teenage years and she is scared of human relationships.

“I only hope she can find a way to move forward with her life.”

The men were told they would serve half their sentence in prison and then they would be released on licence. If they ‘misbehave’ during their remaining time on licence they can be recalled to serve the rest of the time in prison.

All of the men were put on the sexual offences register and were barred from working with children.

They were also told they could have no contact with any children under the age of 16, without the consent of the child’s guardian which would last until a further order.

All the men had previous convictions.

The court heard how Mahmood had a previous conviction of sexual assault from May 2011, when he had groped a stranger outside a railway station.

The men’s convictions came at the end of a three-week trial, during which the court heard how the men forced the girl to perform sex acts on them and pressured her into having sex on a number of occasions.

After Mahmood, Nawaz and Rauf were arrested, Sharif contacted the girl and threatened to undermine her statement. He then blackmailed her into having sex with him – meeting her in her pyjamas in Chesham Cemetery in the middle of the night.

Jail For Four Men Who Sexually Attacked 14 year old schoolgirl 20 Times

Four Buckinghamshire men have been found guilty of twenty sex offences against one girl.

The 14-year-old was forced to take part in sexual acts and have sex a number of times between December 2011 and July 2012.

During their three week trial, Nazakat Mahmood, Ghulfaraz Nawaz, Omar Sharif and Haroon Rauf told Reading Crown Court that they thought she was 17.

But after Mahmood, Nawaz and Rauf were arrested, Sharif contacted the girl and said he’d undermine her statement.

He then blackmailed her into having sex with him.

Investigating officer Det Con Natalie Golding from Aylesbury Major Crime said:

“This was abuse of a young vulnerable girl in the most horrific way.

“All four men used this girl and then, when she had the courage to come to police, they denied the offences and continued to deny them.

“I want to thank the victim here for her bravery in coming forward and helping us to put these men behind bars.

“Hopefully this will go some way to showing other victims of sexual offences that we will listen to you and we will take you seriously.”

Girl of 14 ‘used for sex by four men’

A schoolgirl was used for sex by four men who knew she was just 14 years old, a jury has heard

Haroon Rauf, 30, from Amersham, and three others forced the girl to perform sex acts on them and pressured her into having full sex on several occasions, Reading Crown Court was told.

Rauf was in the dock with Nazakat Mahmood, 28, Ghulfaraz Nawaz, 27, both from Chesham.

After their arrests, another man, Omar Sharif, 25, allegedly threatened to undermine her story and blackmailed her into having sex with him – including in her pyjamas in Chesham Cemetery in the middle of the night.

Prosecutors said all four men denied having any sexual activity with the girl or inciting it, and in any event believed she was at least 17 years old.

Yet jurors were told all of the men had known how young their alleged victim really was.

Michael Roques, prosecuting, said the case stemmed from a previous, non-sexual but abusive relationship the girl had had with another Asian man, called Asif.

“The first three defendants were aware of the abusive relationship and were also aware that she had been plied with alcohol by this man and had developed something of a drinking problem,” he said.

The girl told police that Sharif had persuaded her to leave her home in the middle of the night, when she was already dressed for bed.

She said she met him at the end of her road and they walked to the graveyard, where he informed her that the other three men had offered him £3,000 to tell officers about the earlier relationship [with Asif], in order to discredit her.

Mr Roques told jurors that Sharif was alleged to have then blackmailed the victim into having sex with him.

Rauf, of Drakes Road, Amersham, denies three counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child.

Mahmood, of Batchelors Way, Chesham, denies seven counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child and two of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

Nawaz, of Benham Close, Chesham, denies two charges of engaging in sexual activity with a child.

Sharif, of Brockhurst Road, Chesham, denies six counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child.

The trial continues.
