OAP paedophile flees home after his car is torched
A CONVICTED paedophile has been hounded out of his town after vigilantes set fire to his car in his driveway.
Disabled pensioner Albert Hay was living secretly in Braeview Road, Buckie.
The 70-year-old fled his Banffshire home after his car was set ablaze and has not been seen since.
A removal van turned up this week to take his furniture out of the one bedroom council house. Hay looks like a harmless old man, walking with a stick because of a leg ulcer.
But he’s a sex offender sentenced to eight years in jail in 1999 for child indecency offences spanning 30 years.
Hay moved to Buckie, where he grew up, in March.
Dee Addison, 27, lived opposite Hay with her fouryear-old daughter Jamie-Lee. She said: “He is a sick pervert and I am very glad he has gone. I don’t like to think about it but he must have done some awful things to be given a prison sentence of eight years.
“I don’t condone his car being set alight but everyone was very angry when they found out who he was.
“Why would the council place him here? There are about nine kids in this street.
“I’m just horrified we didn’t know. There’s a law in America where the authorities have to tell you if a paedophile moves into your area and that should be the case in this country.
“We’ve a right to know, as parents.”
Hay drove off with police officers hours after his car was burnt out on September 13.
Charred marks from the 3am attack remain on his driveway.
Hay has not had an easy life since being released from jail in November 2005.
He first moved to Keith, Banffshire, but had to quit the town after outraged mums found out who he was – and that he had been a guest at a children’s picnic.
