A MAN who secretly filmed and photographed a teenage girl has avoided a prison sentence.
Daniel Carter, 39, appeared at Dorchester Crown Court to be sentenced after admitting a charge of voyeurism and 16 counts of making indecent images of children.
Prosecutor Anita Gibson-Lee said that his offending was revealed in April this year when Carter’s then wife found the images of a naked female on his computer.
She said there were approximately 20 different images of the same girl that had been taken without her knowledge.
The victim was identified and was able to date 16 of the images – four movies and 12 images – as prior to her 18th birthday, resulting in charges against Carter.
When Carter, of St Michael’s Court, off Wyke Road, Weymouth, was arrested on suspicion of the offences he replied: “Yes that’s right.”
He made little comment when interviewed by police but entered a guilty plea when he appeared at Dorchester Crown Court in October.
Tim Shorter, mitigating, said his client was a man of previous good character who had lost his wife, job and good name as a result of the proceedings.
He said: “There is no doubt in my mind that he realises just how wrong his actions were and how damaging they were to the victim. He acknowledges his behaviour was completely unacceptable.”
Judge Roger Jarvis sentenced Carter to a three-year community order with a supervision requirement and a requirement to attend the Thames Valley Sex Offenders’ Programme.
The judge said Carter had ‘behaved in an utterly disgraceful way’ and he had read a statement of its impact upon his young victim.
Judge Jarvis said: “Plain it is she was shocked by what happened to her – it has had a profound effect upon her. I hope you are truly ashamed of yourself.
“I’m told you have lost a lot, many people will think you deserve to for the way that you behaved.”
Carter was placed on the sex offenders’ register for a period of seven years and made subject to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order for an indefinite period.

Paedophile is warned he may face jail over offences
A SEX offender who admitted a series of ‘deeply worrying’ offences has been told it is ‘very possible’ he will face a prison sentence.
Daniel Carter, of St Michael’s Court, off Wyke Road, Weymouth, appeared at Dorchester Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to 16 counts of making indecent images of children.
The 39-year-old defendant also pleaded guilty to a charge of voyeurism, with the offences having taken place between October 1, 2010, and December 31, 2011.
Prosecutor Anita Gibson-Lee told the court that Carter was a man of previous good character.
The case was adjourned for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and Carter was released on conditional bail until his sentence hearing on November 16.
Judge Roger Jarvis warned: “It is very possible that you will lose your liberty.” Carter was automatically placed on the sex offenders’ register, with the period to be fixed on the sentence date.
