Wordsley pervert with 3,000 sick images of kids avoids jail
A JUDGE has ruled a Wordsley pervert who downloaded more than 3,000 sickening chlid porn images should keep his freedom.
At Wolverhampton Crown Court, Darin Wallett, aged 31, was told by Judge Michael Dudley that rather than send him to prison for a short time, it was in the best interests of the public if he was to receive help to stop offending.
Wallett, of Ryder Street, admitted making 2,893 indecent images of children at level one – the least serious category – and eight moving images at the same level.
He further pleaded guilty to making 75 indecent images at level two, 335 at level three and 86 at level four and he was given a three year community order.
Judge Michael Dudley told Darin Wallett: “These are not victimless crimes. These are images of real children being subjected to real abuse.”
The judge coupled the order with three years supervision and said Wallett must attend the Sex Offenders Group Programme and also go on the Sex Offenders Register for five years.
He made Wallett the subject of a seven year Sexual Offenders Protection Order which forbids him from ever working with children.
Sati Ruck, prosecuting, said police officers went to Wallett’s home and the indecent images were found on his computer.
Wallett, who accepted he had been sexually aroused by the images, had also installed software to try and hide the activity from police and law enforcement organisations.
The judge told him the offences crossed the custody threshold but added: “The public interests will be best served by dealing with you in a more constructive way.”
The court had been told at an earlier hearing that Wallett had been “cut off” by his friends after his arrest for downloading the images.
