Paedophile barred from chatrooms
A paedophile yesterday became the first person to be specifically banned from using internet chatrooms.
Christopher Dunkley, 36, is believed to be the first subject of a 10-year ban from chatrooms under the provisions of the 2003 Sexual Offences Act, which came into effect two months ago.
Dunkley, who admitted six offences of distributing indecent photographs of boys and 19 of making indecent images of children between January 2000 and June 2003, was jailed for two and a half years at Norwich Crown Court.
One shocking image found on his computer was of an 18-month-old boy being abused by a man
Norwich crown court was told Dunkley had been jailed for two years 10 years ago for indecently assaulting a boy in a public toilet.
Judge Simon Barham, who ordered Dunkley to be placed indefinitely on the sex offenders’ register, said that the public needed to be protected from his activities.
Police found a CD-rom containing 304 child pornography films at Dunkley’s home in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.
