Paedophile jailed AGAIN after trying to get work at farm visited by children

trev

Paedophile Trevor Emmett is in jail again after trying to get voluntary work at a community farm visited by children.

Emmett, 41, of Elland, who has been locked up before for breaching the terms of his lifelong sexual offences prevention order, was jailed for 32 months after he went for an interview at the project just a few months after being released from prison.

Back in 2012 Emmett, who has also lived in Edward Close, Southowram, was imprisoned after police raided his Elland flat and found hundreds of depraved images of children which he had downloaded.

In 2009 he was also locked up after he was found in possession of more than 12,000 indecent images of children.

Many of the images showed children being raped or tortured.

Bradford Crown Court heard that Emmett told a key worker that he had been making inquiries about voluntary work at the Bradford City Farm.

Prosecutor Paul Nicholson said Emmett’s sexual offences prevention order (SOPO) banned him from seeking employment, voluntary or otherwise, which could allow him unsupervised access to children under 16.

Emmett pleaded guilty to breaching his SOPO for the fourth time

Child abuse images addict Trevor Emmett gets more time in prison

A child abuse images addict who could  have been released from prison  next month has now been jailed for  21 months after police found more  sex images on his lap-top  computer.

Former Elland man Trevor Emmett, 39,  was jailed for 16 months for breaching a  sexual offences prevention order back in  March and could have been let out of jail next month.

But yesterday  he pleaded guilty to further  offences of possessing child porn images  and will now be behind bars until next  summer.

The 65 indecent images, which showed young boys and girls, were found by police following analysis of the lap-top which was seized from Emmett when he was arrested at his home in Edward Close, Southowram.

Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC expressed concern about the “haphazard way” that the case was having to be sentenced but yesterday he locked up Emmett for a total of 21 months.

The new sentence starts immediately so Emmett now faces being in custody until next August at the earliest.

Emmett was jailed for nine months in June 2012 after police raided his Elland flat and found hundreds of depraved images and films which he had accessed shortly after his release from a previous jail term.

Back in July 2009 he had also been jailed for nine months after he admitted possessing more than 12,000 indecent images of youngsters.

Barrister Peter Hampton, for Emmett, said his client appeared to have a “compulsion” to access child porn images which he struggled to control.

Judge Durham Hall, who sentenced Emmett via a video link to prison, said it would have been better for all matters to have been dealt with together back in March.

Emmett will have to register as a sex offender with the police for the next 10 years and he is still subject to an indefinite sexual offences prevention order.

Elland man Trevor Emmett jailed again for child porn addiction

A PERVERT jailed for a sick hoard of child abuse images has been caught again.

Police officers found hundreds of depraved images and films when they raided Trevor Emmett’s Elland flat just months after his release from prison.

And Judge Robert Bartfield told Bradford Crown Court the most serious categories of child porn possessed by Emmett showed the most depraved images of children being sexually abused in the most vile way.

Now Emmett – described as a man with an addiction to child porn – has been jailed again for downloading indecent images of youngsters.

Det Sgt Mick Ryan, of the Calderdale Safeguarding Unit, said: “This was a very good proactive policing operation by the Calderdale Public Protection Unit to firstly detect and then stop a dangerous offender who poses a significant risk to children.”

Back in July 2009, Emmett was sentenced to nine months for possessing around 14,000 indecent images.

But only a few months after his release officers from the Calderdale Children and Public Protection Unit visited his flat in Ashgrove House and found him in breach of a sexual offences prevention order.

Bradford Crown Court heard yesterday that Emmett had been banned under the order from possessing various electronic devices, but during the search in May 2010 officers seized a laptop computer, three mobile phones and several CDs and DVDs.

Prosecutor Giles Bridge said just over 700 indecent images and movies were found on the computer.

Some of the movies lasted up to nine minutes and Mr Bridge said the youngsters involved were plainly showing signs of considerable distress.

A backlog of work relating to computer analysis meant that Emmett, 37, was on bail as part of the inquiry for a long period of time and in February this year officers again visited his flat.

Mr Bridge said this time police found two cameras and further “naturist” DVDs.

Emmett, who suffers from mild learning difficulties, was remanded in custody in February and yesterday he was jailed for a total of 18 months after he admitted making indecent images of children and two offences of breaching a sexual offences prevention order.

The judge said Emmett had returned to his “addiction to child pornography” and his recent prison sentence had not deterred him.

Judge Bartfield said he had taken account of Emmett’s limited intellect and the fact that he was a vulnerable individual who had suffered a deprived and emotionally difficult childhood.

He said Emmett had also made genuine efforts to try to rid himself of the child porn addiction, but they had not been successful.

In addition to jailing Emmett Judge Bartfield also imposed a new indefinite sexual offences prevention order which limits his use of electronic devices and contact with children under 16.

Emmett will also have to register as a sex offender for the next 10 years.

Nine months for Elland man caught with child abuse images

A MAN who was caught with thousands of indecent pictures of children on his computer has been jailed for nine months.

Trevor Emmett, 34, of Ashgrove House, Elland, admitted 21 offences of possessing indecent images.

He was put on the Sex Offender Register for 10 years and was also made the subject of a sexual offences prevention order.

Bradford Crown Court heard that the pictures, ranging from level one to level five, were discovered on June 27 last year when police raided his house and seized his computer.

David Mackay, prosecuting, said a total of 11,141 level one images were discovered, 756 level two, 220 level three and 759 level four. There were also 718 level four moving images and 37 at level five.
