Almost 1,000 sex attacks against children in West Midlands in last two years

NEARLY 1,000 sex attacks against children were reported to West Midlands Police in the last two years, according to shock new figures.

The worrying statistics revealed attacks in our region against 861 girls and 100 boys in 2010 and 2011.

The details were released on the first anniversary of Sarah’s Law, which has helped protect more than 200 kids from harm in its first 12 months.

At least 160 disclosures relating to child sex offences have been made, along with at least 58 concerning other offences according to figures from the Association of Chief Police Officers.
