Man jailed for sexual abuse

A PAEDOPHILE who enticed schoolgirls to his lock-up garage and had sex with one of them has been jailed for five years.

Father-of-five Derek Myers, 42, of Bredbury, Stockport, pleaded guilty at Manchester Crown Court to child abduction, sexual activity with a child under 16, six counts of sexual assault, inciting a girl under 16 to engage in sexual activity and possessing imitation firearms and knifes.

He sexually assaulted girls in his car, once performing a sex act in front of them and had been warned by police about his `inappropriate friendships’. Myers was arrested after a missing girl was rescued from his lock-up.

He had been living in his van and a garage lock up after his marriage broke up in early 2007, the court was told.

Imitation sub machine guns and large hunting knifes were later found in his car.

Judge Timothy Mort told Myers he will have to be on the sex offenders’ register for life
