A man has been jailed for grooming and having sex with a 12-year-old girl after unwittingly revealing his crimes to an undercover police officer.
Saied Tabien, 45, admitted seven counts of sexual intercourse with a girl under 13 and one of indecent assault on a female.
Last Friday at Kingston Crown Court he was sentenced to three years in prison for having sex with the girl, who lived in Earlsfield at the time.
Tabien, of Rothesay Avenue, Wimbledon, was caught after he met up with an undercover police officer from Scotland Yard in July last year and said he was interested in obtaining videos of children having intercourse.
He then revealed to the officer he had previously had sex with a 12-year-old over a decade before and gave enough details about the girl for officers to be able to trace her.
Tabien met the girl and would visit her in Earlsfield and watch videos with her, sometimes giving her whiskey before having sex with her on a number of occasions.
He later moved to High Wycombe but they kept in touch by writing letters.
When she was 15 he went to see her again, and although she told him she just wanted to be friends, he asked her for oral sex and indecently assaulted her.
Tabien had only recently been released from prison after serving a nine-month sentence for inciting the distribution of indecent images of children.
When sentencing him, Judge Martin Binning said: “You were 32 at the time and she was 12.
“You were deliberately grooming her with a view to having sex, which was what you achieved.
“You have a predilection for young girls and pose a high risk to children.”
Tabien was put on the sex offenders’ register and banned from working with children.
