Man jailed for molesting teenager

A post office worker who sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl as she slept has been jailed for 22 months.

Raphael Kwabu, 27, molested the girl at his previous address in Hemel Hempstead, Herts, in June last year.

Kwabu, of Haymale House, Peckham, south London, pleaded guilty to sexual assault at St Albans Crown Court.

Judge Findlay Baker placed Kwabu on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years and disqualified him from working with children under the age of 18.

Sentencing him, Judge Baker said: “Sexual assault is a serious offence and I have to consider if you are a danger to the public. As this is your first sexual offence, I think you are not but your attitude to consent is unacceptable.”

In a victim impact statement, the victim said she felt “angry and ashamed” after the attack. She is now receiving counselling.
