Pervert found guilty of ‘despicable’ rapes against girls under 16

Pervert Paul James has been convicted of a string of child rapes following a trial.

The 47-year-old – known as Cristy – had denied six counts of rape against girls under the age of 16 between 1999 and 2007.

But he was convicted following a trial at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.

James, of Marchwood Court in Penkhull, was also found guilty of five other counts of sexual assault against his three victims.

He will now be sentenced at a later date.

Tamworth man jailed for 29 years over multiple serious sexual offences

A Tamworth man has been jailed for 29 years after being found guilty of multiple serious sexual offences.

Leon Justin Pegg, aged 47, from Tamworth, was sentenced on Friday, April 23, at Stafford Crown Court, after being found guilty of 24 offences including:

  • One count of rape

  • Two counts of attempted rape

  • Multiple sexual assaults

  • Making and distributing indecent photographs of a child.

Pegg was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life.

Pervert, 39, saved indecent images of children and filed them under ‘best bits’

A pervert from Staffordshire who downloaded hundreds of indecent images of children created a folder on his phone called the ‘best bits’.

Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard that Russell Ball would exchange emails with other people, who sent him much of the graphic content.

It included videos and photos that he saved under names like ‘chunky Russian girl’ and ‘eight-year-old blonde licking two *** *****’.

Acting on intelligence, police seized his mobile phone. But most of the images had already been deleted.

Now the 39-year-old has been made the subject of a five-year sexual harm prevention order, as well as a community order that will last for two years.

Ball pleaded guilty to six counts of making indecent images of children and one offence of distributing indecent images.

Some were classed as the most serious category A, with more than 70 at category B and more than 150 at category C.

Antony Longworth, prosecuting, said the offending covered a nine-month period between 2018 and 2019

Although the defendant claimed he’d only had the phone for two months, some of the data had been transferred onto his new mobile from an old phone.

“The bulk were in the ‘best bits’ folder,” added Mr Longworth.

One of the videos featured a girl thought to be aged 10.

The court was told that Ball had also searched the internet using phrases such as ‘child sex dolls’.

Mr Longworth said: “The defendant, who was interviewed, denied any involvement with the indecent images. He said other people used his phone.”

But Ball, formerly of Barlaston and now of Hethersett Walk, Bentilee, went on to change his pleas to guilty on the day he was due to stand trial.

Judge David Fletcher described Ball’s attempts to deflect the blame as ‘absolutely stupid’.

He told him: “You’ve been a very foolish man. Clearly, you are now fully accepting of your responsibility and what happened.”

As part of the community order, Ball must complete a programme for sexual offenders and take part in 20 rehabilitation activity days. He will also have to comply with an electronically monitored curfew for four months, operating between 7pm and 5am.

And Ball has been ordered to pay £1,200 costs as well.

Cannock paedophile locked up for sex attacks on young girls

A paedophile from Staffordshire has been locked up for 16 years after a series of attacks on two young girls.

David Poppett, 62 and from Cannock, was found guilty of 15 counts of indecent assault and three counts of indecency with a child.

The offences took place in Cannock and Hednesford between the late 1980s and late 1990s.

Poppett, of Moss Road, in Chadsmoor, was sentenced to 16 years behind bars at Stafford Crown Court on Friday and given a two-year supervision order to follow the jail term.

Poppett’s two victims were both aged under 15 at the time of the attacks.

Pervert downloads ‘sickening’ bestiality images from Stoke Library computer

Pervert Simon Massamba was caught with extreme pornographic images on his phone – after downloading them from a library computer.

The 58-year-old told officers that the bestiality images had been published by people in his homeland – the Democratic Republic of Congo – to discourage women from going to Greece and being exploited.

But they had been downloaded from a Stoke-on-Trent City Council PC at Stoke Library after the defendant searched for ‘animal porn’.

Now Massamba has been handed a 12 month community order at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.

Police discovered the images – three stills and three moving images – in March 2020. The defendant told police that he did not know that type of porn was illegal. He admitted he got pleasure from looking at the images.

Prosecutor Jonathan Dickinson said: “The defendant provided the pin number for his mobile phone. It was forensically examined and the the bestiality images were recovered.”

Massamba, of Honeywall, Stoke, pleaded guilty to two charges of possessing extreme pornographic images.

The community order includes 50 hours unpaid work and a rehabilitation activity requirement for 25 days. He must also pay £300 costs.
