‘Psychopathic’ Scots rapist who blackmailed victims branded ‘extraordinarily cruel’ as he’s given life sentence

A ‘Psychopathic’ serial rapist who blackmailed his victims was branded “extraordinarily cruel” as he was handed a life sentence.

Allan Rotchford, 34, was locked up after raping six women and committing another six sex crimes between 2009 and 2019.

The depraved monster was convicted of two indecent assaults along with another two sexual attacks.

He was also found guilty of extorting graphic images of women by threatening to post intimate pictures online.

The horrific crimes took place in Edinburgh, West Lothian, Stirling and Ayrshire.

Lord Fairley today imposed an Order for Lifelong Restriction at a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow.

Sicko Rotchford – who denied the charges – must serve at least seven years behind bars before he’s eligible for release.

The rapist was described by the judge as manipulative, deceitful and extraordinarily cruel”.

A shocking report described Rotchford as having “no inhibitions to harming others” and said he had displayed a “range of psychopathic traits”.

One doctor said he had “narcissistic personality disorder”

Lord Fairley said: “An Order for Lifelong Restriction is plainly necessary and appropriate.”

Twisted Rotchford was also hit with a Sexual Offences Prevention Order banning him from contacting the victims or accessing any images of them.

Jurors earlier heard how the attacks included raping one woman at a flat in Edinburgh after she had fallen asleep from taking tablets.

The monster also recorded one of the crimes on a mobile phone.

He took to Twitter and Facebook and warned he would put private photos of two of the women online unless they agreed to his sick demands.

Rotchford raped another sleeping victim while he was on bail.

The sicko was put on the sex offenders list indefinitely.

Serial rapist blackmailed partners into fulfilling rape fantasies and committing sex acts on film

A traumatised victim has told how her monster boyfriend posed as an internet blackmailer and subjected her to a reign of terror to trick her into performing depraved and humiliating sex acts.

Serial rapist Allan Rotchford told Jane (name changed) that he would put graphic pictures of her online unless she sent him images of herself performing the acts he wanted.

He demanded to see her both alone and with her partner – in other words, himself.

Playing the blackmailer, Rotchford used a bogus Facebook profile to bombard Jane with more than 6000 messages coercing her into fulfilling his sordid rape fantasies.

Playing himself, he told Jane she had no choice but to obey her tormentor’s orders.

He abused her even though she had just had a baby. She would never have gone along with it if she had not believed she was being extorted.

Jane was not Rotchford’s first victim, or his last. He had four in all, abusing them horribly over a decade from 2009. He used a similar blackmail scam on one of the women to the one he used on Jane.

After Jane had him arrested, he found a new partner and repeatedly raped her while on bail.

Rotchford is now in Barlinnie, awaiting sentence next month at the High Court for nine counts of rape, two of sexual assault by penetration with objects, one of intent to rape, and two of extorting degrading sexual images.

Jane told the Daily Record: “I was so trapped by him. I felt like I was in a box buried six feet under, gasping for air. I was helpless. So many times I thought of ending my life.

“I want people to know Allan Rotchford’s name, to know his face, to know how dangerous he is.”

Jane met Rotchford on Tinder in 2017, when she was at a low ebb. She was pregnant but her relationship with the father was breaking up.

“I had no one to talk to and he came across as sympathetic,” she said of the rapist.

“He would do anything for me – took me out and listened to me when I was down.

“He was very charming and I was looking for someone to love me.”

But within four months, Rotchford’s persona changed. His moods were extreme – friendly one minute, punching walls the next. And within a month of Jane having her baby in August 2017, he became increasingly controlling, vindictive and verbally abusive.

Then one day, Rotchford came back from his job as a delivery driver and told Jane the blackmailer had contacted him on Facebook. He said the crook had an edited explicit image of her, and would publish it if they did not co-operate.

He told Jane the image must have come from an ex of hers. And he dissuaded her from going to the police, insisting co-operation was the only answer.

At first, Jane refused. But then the image appeared online. She felt forced to comply, and her nightmare began.

“I was asked to do things no one would want to do,” she said. “The acts were humiliating, sick. There were deadlines, and if I didn’t meet them the images were to be published.

“Very quickly he had a huge collection of videos and pictures to use against me. I was utterly powerless.”

Rotchford, posing as the blackmailer, then began to contact Jane directly. He told her to provide video of herself being abused by her boyfriend – himself.

She said: “I would wake up in the morning to a raft of messages. They came all day, every day, morning to night, and they didn’t stop.

“The sexual abuse was unimaginable, so painful and degrading. He also drugged me – I wouldn’t know what had happened until I woke up to the pain the next day.

“I had just had a baby. I couldn’t cope. He watched me constantly, isolated me from family and friends, and I was trapped and distraught. I was under his control.”

Increasingly, Jane suspected Rotchford was behind her ordeal, as he was never in the room when the blackmailer messaged her. But when she suggested it, he went “ballistic”.

The blackmailer had promised an end date in October 2017 for the abuse. But when it came, he extended it by a month.

Jane broke down and told her mother everything, the police were called, the messages were traced to Rotchford and he was charged with extortion.

But with no previous convictions, he was bailed. And he found another victim, in Ayrshire, using the Plenty of Fish app.

Police warned Lucy (not her real name) that Rotchford was a potential abuser, but she initially stood by him.

Detective Inspector Stevie McMillan of the Police Scotland Domestic Abuse Task Force (East) and Detective Constable Audrey Morrison investigated Rotchford’s past – and uncovered two previous victims.

Rotchford had preyed on a woman in Bonnyrigg, Midlothian, while in a relationship with her between June 2009 and May 2010.

He would eventually be convicted of raping her, indecently assaulting her with a bottle as she slept, and filming an oral sex session that was so violent she vomited.

Rotchford then abused a woman in Edinburgh over a three-year period from November 2013. Chillingly, he used the same “blackmailer” scam on her as he would later use on Jane. He used a fake Twitter profile to threaten to publish indecent images of her, and on one occasion carried out the threat.

As the police investigation continued, Lucy contacted DC Morrison to ask her for help.

Rotchford was found guilty last month of four counts of raping Lucy, as well as of forced penetration with an object.

“He controlled my every move,” Lucy told us. “He used me to fulfil rape fantasies. He was so disgusting and so manipulative.

“If it hadn’t been for Audrey, I wouldn’t be here. Even when he was arrested I lived in fear of him and was convinced he would break out of prison. I am so glad the police worked so hard, and a jury believed us, his victims.”

DI McMillan said Rotchford’s abuse was “some of the worst and most graphic I have ever come across”.

DC Morrison added: “I admire these women for their bravery in speaking out.

“It is satisfying that the jury saw Rotchford for what he was.

“I would say to any victims to come forward.

“We will help and we will not judge.”

Sex offender turned up at single mum’s home expecting to be allowed to abuse her child

A sex offender turned up at a single mum’s home in Barrow expecting to be allowed to abuse her child, a court heard.

Matthew Roy, 61, has been jailed for three and a half years after falling for a sick and twisted sex plot by Stuart Callum Westwood, 46, which saw a string of perverts sent to the woman’s front door.

Westwood, a former BAE worker, was jailed for eight years in May after setting up dozens of fake profiles on dating apps including Plenty of Fish and Illicit Encounters.

Posing as the woman he invited strangers to her home to participate in sexual acts with the woman and her young son.

Stuart Callum Westwood was sentence to eight years in May for his part

Roy, of Whitehouse Loan, Gorebridge, Scotland previously worked for the police and the ambulance service, was one of the men lured in by Westwood.

Believing he was talking to the woman, quickly moved the conversation to WhatsApp where he made sordid suggestions of sex acts he wanted to perform on the woman and with her young son.

The woman – who cannot be named for legal reasons – was so frightened by the men turning up at her door that she installed CCTV and went to live with her parents for safety. On July 30 2018 she was monitoring the camera on her iPad when she saw Roy walk up to her door.

She immediately called the police and Roy was arrested.

He pleaded guilty to two counts of attempting to incite an adult to engage in sexual activity with a child at Preston Crown Court.

Judge Robert Altham, sentencing, said: “It is important to understand the gravity of what it was you were attempting to cause.

“On that day you had a mobile phone in your hand.

“The boy’s mother knew why you were there. She knew not because she had any collusion but because of what others had done before by turning up at the house.

“It is absolutely clear from the chat logs that you were pushing the conversation along. You were initiating conversations.

“It is plain you turned up there expecting the boy to be there and expecting him to be abused.”

The judge accepted Roy was not in good health although he said he had not seen any medical evidence to support his claims he had suffered mental health problems since attending as a first responder at the scene of the Lockerbie air disaster.

He said Roy was one of ten men to have turned up at the woman’s house.

The judge added: “The pre sentence reports shows an extraordinary career in public service and it is a tragedy that such a career ends like this.”

Roy will be on the sex offenders register indefinitely and will be referred to the Disclosure and Barring Service which protects children and vulnerable adults.

Midlothian pervert Scout leader jailed for dressing boys up as Native Americans and painting their genitals

A pensioner who sexually assaulted young boys when he was their Scout troop leader has been jailed for three years.

Bruce Love used his hands to cover the youngsters in the body paint when the children were part of a Scout ‘Red Indian’ dance troop.

Love, 82, smeared the red dye over the boys genitals while they stood naked in his bath at his former home in Bonnyrigg, Midlothian, in the 1960s and 70s.

He was in charge of a troop for around a decade and activities included youngsters dancing out Native American storylines while he banged a drum at events in Fife and Midlothian.

Love had denied any wrongdoing and stood trial on indictment at Edinburgh Sheriff Court earlier this year where he was eventually found guilty of six charges of using lewd and libidinous practices towards boys under his care.

Six male victims, now all in their 50s, gave evidence to the court stating they had been abused by Love when they were aged 11 and 12 years old.

One man said Love lured him to his former cottage in Bonnyrigg and “checked to see if I was ticklish” before stripping him naked and putting him over his knee.

A second victim told the jury Love had exposed himself and committed an indecent act in front of the lad during a Scout camp near Moffat.

While a third man, who is related to Love, said the shamed Scout master “cupped my genitals” while he smeared the paint over the his naked body.

Love returned to the dock for sentencing and Sheriff Robert Fife told him he had carried out “a grave breach of trust” while he had been in charge of the boys.

Sheriff Fife added: “The evidence heard in court was that you were an authoritarian and you were strict and the boys did what they were told.

“You used that authority to isolate these boys and these boys were violated by you. My impression is that the six boys were chosen by you and abused by you.

“The law has eventually caught up with you. Your disgrace is complete. You continue to deny the charges and there is no remorse.

“Because of the gravity of the offences there is no alternative to a custodial sentence.”

Love, now of Eastleigh, Southampton, was jailed for three years and placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely.

Previously the court heard that Love set up the ‘Red Indian’ dance events and would invite the youngster’s to his home where he would get them to stand naked in the bath one at a time.

He would then daub the boys’ bodies in the red paint including smearing the liquid between their buttocks and over their genitals.

One victim, now 55, told the jury Love abused him following a dance rehearsal at the Scout Hall in Bonnyrigg in the 1970s.

The man, who was aged between 11 and 13 at the time, said: “Mr Love took me back to his own place to put body paint on me after the rehearsal. I remember being asked to go back.

“We went into the front room and Mr Love shut the curtains and said he wanted to see if I was ticklish.

“He asked me to undress and when I had nothing on Mr Love started painting my genitals.”

The man added he felt “uncomfortable with it” and after leaving the cottage he “remembered running home as I was frightened”.

All the victims told the court they did not tell anyone about Love’s conduct at the time of the offending due to their age.

But two years ago one victim made a complaint to the police after he divulged what had happened to him to his wife.

Police then contacted more men who had been in the scout group at the time and a further five confessed they had been subjected to the historical sex abuse.

Love admitted to the jury he would paint the boys’ bodies before the dance performances but denied he had touched any of them sexually or inappropriately.

Love denied any of the boys attended at his home alone and said all the sexual abuse described the victims “didn’t happen”.

But the jury decided the OAP was lying and returned unanimous guilty verdicts to six charges of using lewd and libidinous practices towards children at the Scout Hall in Bonnyrigg and at other locations between December 21, 1969 and January 18, 1978.

Love was found guilty of inducing the boys to remove their clothing, handling their genitals and applying paint to their penis, testicles and buttocks during several incidents in Bonnyrigg, Moffat, Seil Island and the Orkneys.

Midlothian pervert Scout master guilty of sexual offences

A pervert Scout Master sexually abused young boys by daubing their genitals in red paint – while the boys were dressed up as Native Americans.

Bruce Love covered youngsters in his care in the body paint when they were part of a ‘Red Indian Dance’ troupe connected to his Scout group.

Love, 82, gathered the boys, aged between 10 and 14, at his home where he would lather their bodies in the red dye as they stood naked in a bath.

The Scout leader then played drums while the boys danced out Native American storylines at events in Midlothian, Fife and at Seil Island.

Love, a retired social worker, carried out the sick campaign of abuse between 1969 and 1978 when he was in charge of the Scouts group in Bonnyrigg.

Six men, all now in their 50s, gave evidence to a jury at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last week where they detailed how Love targeted them when they were around 11 or 12 years old.

One man said Love lured him to his former home in Bonnyrigg and “checked to see if I was ticklish” before stripping him naked and putting him over his knee.

A second victim told the jury Love exposed himself and began masturbating in front of the lad during a Scout camp near Moffat.

While a third man, who is related to Love, said the shamed Scout master “cupped my genitals” as he smeared the paint over the lad’s naked body.

The former Scout Master, who now lives in Eastleigh, Southampton, denied the allegations but was found guilty of six charges of lewd and libidinous practices towards the men when they were children following a four-day trial at the Capital court.

Sheriff Robert Fife said: “Bail will be continued but I should record that this has been a grave breach of trust involving six boys. These are grave offences before this court.”

Following Friday’s verdict Sheriff Fife deferred sentence to next month for the preparation of reports.

The jury heard Love invited the group of young dancers to his former home in Bonnyrigg where he would apply the paint while the boys stood naked in his bath.

Several witnesses, who cannot be identified due to legal reasons, told the court how Love would touch their genitals and rub the paint between their buttocks as part of dressing up in the Red Indian costume.

One victim, now 55, said Love organised the Indian dance routine as a Scout event and regularly took boys back to his home.

The man, who was aged between 11 and 13 at the time, said: “Mr Love took me back to his own place to put body paint on me after the rehearsal. I remember being asked to go back.

“We went into the front room and Mr Love shut the curtains and he wanted to see if I was ticklish.

A complaint by one of the men was made to the police about the historical abuse two years ago and after being contacted by officers a further five men gave statements stating Love had abused them.

Love admitted to the jury he would paint the boys’ bodies before the dance performances but denied he had touched any of them sexually or inappropriately.

Love denied any of the boys attended at his home alone and said all the events described by the victims “didn’t happen”.

He said he could not remember two of the boys from his time with the Scout group and claimed their lies had “spoiled” his memories of that time.

But the jury decided the OAP was lying and returned unanimous guilty verdicts to six charges of using lewd and libidinous practices towards children at the Scout Hall in Bonnyrigg and at other locations between December 21, 1969 and January 18, 1978.

Love was found guilty of inducing the boys to remove their clothing, handling their genitals and applying paint to their penis, testicles and buttocks during several incidents over the nine-year period in Bonnyrigg, Moffat, Seil Island and the Orkneys.

Jailed: Child rapist subjected a girl to a catalogue of sexual abuse

A child rapist who subjected a girl to a catalogue of sexual abuse over eight years was jailed today.

Andrew Temple, 53, preyed on the victim from the age of eight and even molested her in a hospital.

Temple, of George Terrace, Loanhead, in Midlothian, had denied a string of charges during a trial at the High Court in Edinburgh.

But a jury convicted him of the seven offences he faced, including two charges of rape and three of indecent behaviour towards the girl and two further offences of indecency against boys aged eight and six.

Temple’s offending against the girl began in 1996 and took place at addresses in Easthouses and Dalkeith, in Midlothian, and in Fort William, including at the Highland town’s Belford Hospital where the victim was being treated and went on up to 2004. The boys were targets for his abuse in the 1990s.

The female victim, now aged 31, first spoke to police in 2003 but told the court that she was informed that there was not enough evidence to charge her abuser.

She later contacted police again in 2010 when she was feeling “really suicidal”. She said she had three overdoses and added: “I just thought ‘enough is enough’. Something needs to be done.”

She made a further contact with police in England in 2014 which eventually led to Temple being charged.

At one stage she handed a letter to officers in which she detailed some of the abuse that she suffered at the hands of Temple.

She wrote: “He started touching me, getting me to do things to him and having full sex with him.”

She said she remembered Temple offering her cider and she drank glass after glass until she was feeling “funny and sick”.

She recalled him pulling down her trousers and raping her. She said it hurt her and she wanted him to stop but he did not.

Afterwards Temple returned and asked her if she liked it and she told him “yes” because she felt really frightened. He told her not to tell anyone it.

Following his conviction the judge, Robert Weir QC, put Temple on the sex offenders’ register.

Temple, who was on bail throughout the proceedings, was remanded in custody while a background report is prepared on him ahead of sentencing next month.
